These ten prospects are a practical shortlist for an FM26 EFL Championship save—not a guaranteed ranking of the game’s best potential or easiest signings. “Wonderkid” has no single cutoff: this article uses it broadly for a young prospect with development upside, rather than claiming every name meets a strict under-21 definition. The picks come from a club-by-club guide published on 20 February 2026; their ages, clubs, roles and availability need checking against the database update and start date in your own save.
How to use this FM26 shortlist
The names below are editorial leads, not a uniform player-data ranking. The guide behind them selected one prospect from each club using considerations such as playing time relative to age, hype and projected potential, and normally allowed players up to age 23. That differs from FM Scout’s narrower definition, which counts players aged 20 or younger on 7 July 2025. See the club-by-club selection and FM Scout’s methodology for those criteria.
FM26 potential can vary between saves, and a player’s contract, club, loan status and age can change with database revision and save date. FourFourTwo’s Mark White noted on 16 March 2026 that “Potential can vary from save to save, while some players have their potential locked to a certain level, so to keep things simple, we’ve graded them with the following assessments of their potential: Generational 🌟, Elite ⭐️, World-class ⚡️, League-winning starter ✨, UCL squad player 🔥, Europa squad quality ☄️ and Midtable ✅.” Treat any ceiling as a possibility in your save, not a promise. FourFourTwo’s guide explains its own grading approach.
The EFL Championship profile on Football Manager Blog’s FM26 database currently lists 24 men’s clubs and 642 linked players. Those are database-site snapshot figures, not a guarantee that a particular player is eligible or available in every game update. The profile’s average ability, potential and indexed value describe the competition data overall; they do not establish individual transfer fees or affordability. Check the Championship profile alongside your chosen database. Ten prospects to check in your save
Each player below was named for a Championship club in the February 2026 club-by-club guide. It does not supply comparable attributes, positions, potential figures or fees for all ten, so those details are intentionally left to your database rather than guessed here.
-
August Priske — Birmingham City
The guide names Priske as Birmingham’s pick. Check his age, position, club registration and role in your save before deciding whether he addresses a first-team need or is a longer-term project.
-
Harvey Higgins — Blackburn Rovers
Higgins is the guide’s Blackburn selection. Confirm his first-team status and attributes in your database before building a tactical plan around him.
-
Ephraim Yeboah — Bristol City
Yeboah is named as Bristol City’s prospect. Verify that your selected update places him at the club and check his in-game role before making an offer.

- A Multi-layered business simulation in the world of sport.
- Acquire and train players, hire doctors, trainers, and other sports professionals then develop your stadium, attract sponsors, and play matches against other teams.
- Several paths to victory.
-
Dylan Lawlor — Cardiff City
Lawlor is the Cardiff pick. Check his eligibility and position in the save; the selection alone does not establish that he is ready to start in the Championship.
-
Ibrahim Fullah — Charlton Athletic
The guide names Fullah for Charlton. Because club scope and age depend on the database and save date, confirm both before treating him as a target for your Championship side.
-
Owen Eames — Derby County
The guide notes Eames has made first-team appearances in the Championship and FA Cup after progressing through Derby’s academy. That senior experience makes him worth inspecting, but use your save’s attributes and squad demands to judge readiness.
-
Charlie Hughes — Hull City
Hughes is listed as Hull’s pick. Check that he fits your chosen age cutoff and database version, then assess his position and current ability in-game.

Harry Gray — Leeds United
The guide described Gray as Leeds’ best young prospect at publication and reported he was making an impression on loan at Rotherham. Recheck his current club and loan status in your save before approaching Leeds.
-
Jeremy Monga — Leicester City
The guide highlighted Monga as a 16-year-old playing in the Championship and impacting games at the time of publication. Those are dated source claims, not a substitute for checking his age, club and playing status in your chosen database.
-
Raees Bangura-Williams — Millwall
The guide reported regular senior appearances, goals in the FA Cup and Championship, and England U20 caps. Treat these as claims from its publication date and verify his current club and in-game status before making a bid.
How to choose the right target for your club
A useful shortlist starts with your squad problem and time horizon, not a presumed potential rating. Open each player’s profile in the same FM26 database and compare the same fields. If your scouting package or knowledge does not reveal a value, do not treat an estimate as a confirmed asking price.

- Readiness: Use current ability, attributes and any available scouting report to judge whether the player can contribute now or needs development.
- Upside: Compare the potential information exposed by your save, remembering that potential may vary between saves.
- Cost and access: Check contract length, transfer status, loan arrangements and the club’s response to an approach. Do not infer affordability from league-wide database values.
- Development plan: Consider whether your club can offer minutes, coaching and a suitable loan pathway if the player is not ready to feature regularly.
Only rank these ten against one another after gathering those details from one database revision and one save date. The available club-by-club selection is balanced across clubs, but it is not a verified ranking by potential, price or immediate readiness.
