Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteSome games let you bypass most of the campaign and reach the final boss early, but “immediately” rarely means from the first seconds of a new save. The route may require finishing the opening, beating the game once to unlock mission select, or using a separate endgame mode. Here are ten games identified by an existing guide as candidates, with an important caveat: the available evidence does not confirm current, platform-specific steps for most of them.
What “immediately” means in this list
Reaching a final boss without replaying the full campaign is different from selecting that boss at the start of a fresh save. Routes can depend on prior completion, unlocked chapter or mission select, a dedicated mode, or a community workaround such as a save edit. A boss-rush mode is also not necessarily a direct selector for the final boss.

The ten candidates below come from a single editorial guide. Its list is useful as a starting point, but platform, edition, unlock state, and game version can change what is possible. Step-by-step routes for these ten titles have not been independently established here, so treat them as leads rather than guaranteed instructions.
Ten candidates for an early final-boss encounter
- Doom (2016) — Listed as a candidate; the available evidence does not establish a current route or its unlock requirements.
- Doom Eternal — Listed as a candidate; verify the edition, platform, and required progression before relying on a shortcut.
- Wolfenstein: The New Order — Listed as a candidate; no platform-specific final-boss access steps are established here.
- Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus — Listed as a candidate; the route and any completion gate remain unverified.
- Halo: Combat Evolved — The guide includes both the original and Anniversary edition, but does not establish which version or unlock state supports direct access.
- Halo 2 — The guide includes classic and Anniversary modes; confirm the version and whether campaign completion is required.
- Resident Evil 2 (2019) — Listed as a candidate; the evidence here does not specify a final-boss selector or a dependable fresh-save route.
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order — Listed as a candidate; no current, version-specific access instructions are confirmed.
- Hades — Listed as a candidate; the guide’s mention does not establish whether its route skips the progression normally leading to the final encounter.
- Classic Doom — Listed as a candidate; the guide does not pin down a specific release, platform, or reliable route.
Because these are not verified walkthroughs, check the instructions for your exact version before attempting a route—particularly when it involves cheats, edited saves, or community-created tools.

A documented early route: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Tears of the Kingdom offers a documented way to reach the final boss well before completing the regional questlines, though not from a brand-new game start. Nintendo Life reports that you first complete the opening and Great Sky Island, then unlock the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower to obtain the Paraglider. From there, a route through Hyrule Castle Cavern and the Depths leads toward the final encounter. The path is dangerous, with caves and enemies along the way. If you have not completed the Regional Phenomena quests or dungeons, you may also face the unfinished regional bosses in a gauntlet before the final boss. Nintendo Life’s route guide describes the sequence.
Boss practice and endgame modes are not the same as final-boss selection
Metroid Dread
Nintendo distinguishes its boss-practice option from its post-completion challenge modes. In its April 7, 2022 announcement, Nintendo said: “Complete the game to unlock Boss Rush and fight Samus’ most formidable foes one-after-another to try to get the best time possible!” Boss Rush unlocks after completing the game; Survival Rush follows Boss Rush, and Dread Rush requires completing Dread Mode. The announcement also describes Practice Mode for training boss battles, but it does not establish immediate selection of the final boss. Nintendo’s announcement lays out the unlock conditions.

Godfall: Challenger Edition
In a December 1, 2021 PlayStation announcement, Counterplay Games Game Director Daniel Nordlander said Godfall: Challenger Edition provides access to three endgame modes without the base-game and Fire & Darkness story content, along with an immediate level-50 boost. That is evidence of a way to bypass story content and enter endgame modes, not proof of direct final-boss selection. The announcement does not establish whether this edition is currently available. Read the PlayStation announcement.
Infinity Blade III
Infinity Blade III’s Deathless Mode is a challenge after the campaign, not an immediate final-boss route: Epic says players must complete the campaign at least once, after which the mode takes them through each quest in order. Epic’s Deathless Mode page states the requirement.

How to choose a route that fits what you want
- Starting a fresh save? Look specifically for a route confirmed to work before campaign completion. The Tears of the Kingdom example still requires finishing the opening and obtaining the Paraglider.
- Want to replay the final encounter? Check whether the game offers mission select, boss practice, or a boss-rush mode—and whether it includes the final boss specifically.
- Trying to skip story content? An endgame mode may bypass the campaign without letting you choose a particular boss. Confirm what the mode actually contains for your edition.
- Considering a community workaround? Check compatibility with your platform and game version, and consider the risk of corrupting a save or losing progress before editing files or using cheats.
There is no dependable universal answer to whether you must beat a game once: some routes are available after an opening or through built-in endgame access, while others rely on post-completion features or unverified workarounds. Confirm the gate for the exact title and version you plan to play.
