There is no single “best” Marvel game. Web-slinging adventures, tactical card battles, team-based brawlers and fighting games satisfy very different kinds of fans. This curated ten balances recognizable heroes with different genres, tones and eras. The selections are judged on writing, gameplay mechanics, performance and how well each game delivers its particular corner of Marvel.
For the clearest story arc, play Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2 in that order. For a self-contained campaign, choose Guardians of the Galaxy; for strategy, choose Midnight Suns. The remaining picks cover co-op action, family-friendly play, competitive fighting and classic X-Men storytelling.

How to choose among these Marvel games
Start with the kind of play you want rather than the hero on the box. The games below deliberately span several formats:
- Open-world action: explore a detailed city, fight gangs and move through the environment with superhuman traversal.
- Linear single-player adventure: follow a focused story with a fixed cast and cinematic pacing.

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
Why it belongs on the list
Marvel’s Spider-Man is the most approachable starting point for a modern Marvel game. Its open-world Manhattan is built around momentum: launch from a rooftop, swing between buildings, land in a fight and improvise with gadgets, web traps and environmental objects. The campaign balances Peter Parker’s personal responsibilities with a city-wide criminal conspiracy, so the superhero fantasy never loses its human anchor.
Story order and editions
PlayStation describes the three Insomniac Spider-Man games as a connected story and recommends beginning here. The original PS4 Game of the Year Edition is playable on PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is listed for PS5 and PC and includes The City That Never Sleeps expansion. You can change difficulty at any point, from a story-focused setting to the demanding Ultimate setting, making the campaign suitable for newcomers and experienced action players.
2. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
A shorter, more focused follow-up
Miles Morales sets out on his own while Peter is away, bringing a distinct movement and combat vocabulary to the same broader city. Camouflage, bio-electric venom attacks and a different rhythm of traversal make Miles feel like more than a costume swap. The plot places him between neighborhood responsibility and a conflict involving a gang and a powerful energy company.

PlayStation places Miles Morales after the first game and before Spider-Man 2. It is available on PS4, PS5 and PC. Although it is more compact than the first game, its concentrated campaign makes it an excellent choice when you want a complete superhero story without a huge checklist.

3. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Two Spider-Men, a larger threat
Released on October 20, 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an action-adventure developed by Insomniac Games and published by PlayStation. Peter Parker and Miles Morales share the lead, allowing the story to contrast Peter’s experience with Miles’s growing confidence. The central threats include Kraven the Hunter and Venom, giving the campaign a more aggressive and personal tone than its predecessors.
Who should play it
The game is listed for PS5 and PC. You may begin here, but playing the earlier two games first gives the character relationships and major revelations more weight. The same adjustable-difficulty approach lets you tailor combat without locking yourself into one challenge level.
4. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
A single-player space opera
This is a linear, third-person action-adventure in which you lead the Guardians as Star-Lord. You control Peter Quill directly while issuing commands to Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax. Battles are designed around combining the team’s abilities, but the real appeal is the constant conversation: arguments, jokes and uneasy loyalty shape the journey as much as shooting and exploration.

Platforms and expectations
The Xbox listing covers Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and describes cloud play. It is a single-player campaign, not a four-player service game, so choose it for authored scenes and a complete narrative. Store prices and discounts change; check the live listing rather than relying on an old advertised amount.

5. Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Cards instead of button-mashing
Marvel’s Midnight Suns combines tactical role-playing with card-based combat. Each hero brings a deck of abilities, and every turn asks you to manage card draws, positioning, environmental attacks and a limited action economy. Between missions, you develop relationships with heroes, unlock upgrades and decide how to spend time at the Abbey. The result is as much a character-management game as a battlefield tactics game.
Launch platforms and availability
2K announced the original launch for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch editions planned for later. Because current support can differ by edition and region, verify the platform you intend to use before purchase. The game carries an ESRB Teen rating and is best for players who enjoy planning several moves ahead.
6. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
The modern four-hero brawler
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is built around assembling a team of four heroes and switching between them during real-time fights. Its campaign moves through a comic-book tour of Marvel locations and factions, making it a strong choice for fans who want breadth rather than one character’s personal arc. Combining attacks can stagger bosses and reward experimentation with different team compositions.

7. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
Marvel for families and completionists
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes turns the universe into a playful puzzle-action game. Levels mix light combat with environmental problems that require a specific hero’s ability: smashing objects, controlling technology, flying or manipulating magnetic materials. The broad roster and constant visual gags make it welcoming to younger players while giving longtime fans a steady stream of collectibles.
Why it remains useful
Unlike the darker entries on this list, the LEGO game is forgiving, readable and easy to play in short sessions. It is a good introduction to Marvel characters for children and a relaxed option for adults who prefer exploration and humor over demanding combat. Several editions exist across generations, so confirm which version matches your console.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 treats Marvel heroes as members of a tag team. Who will enjoy it
This is the pick for players who want repeatable matches rather than a long cinematic campaign. Basic controls are accessible, but mastering movement, assists and matchup knowledge takes practice. Online functionality, storefront availability and platform support depend on the edition, so check the current listing for your region.

9. X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
A classic mutant team role-playing game
X-Men Legends II is a top-down action RPG focused on building a four-member mutant squad. You switch between characters to exploit powers, solve ability-based obstacles and manage upgrades. The unusual premise brings the X-Men and Brotherhood together against Apocalypse, giving the campaign a larger roster and more varied team interactions than a single-hero game.
Why seek it out now
Its age shows in the interface and presentation, but the core loop remains satisfying: assemble a team, clear a mission, improve abilities and try a different lineup. It is primarily a legacy release, so modern digital availability is inconsistent. Treat it as a title to locate through legitimate current stores or existing physical copies rather than assuming a new-console port exists.
10. Deadpool
A deliberately irreverent action game
Deadpool puts the character’s fourth-wall-breaking voice at the center of a third-person action campaign. Sword attacks, guns, teleportation and upgrade choices support a deliberately over-the-top combat style, while Deadpool comments on the game’s own missions and conventions. The tone is much more adult and vulgar than the LEGO games or the all-ages Spider-Man presentation.
Set expectations about access
The game is a finite, single-player campaign rather than a live-service title. It is also a legacy release whose digital availability has changed over time, so confirm that a legitimate copy is available for your platform before planning around it. Choose it for comedy and character voice, not for a connected place in the Insomniac Spider-Man storyline.

- Continue with Miles Morales.
- Finish with Spider-Man 2.
If you want variety in three games
