A November 2024 TechTimes article collected ten Pokémon—or starter trios—that fans wanted to see receive Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The list is a dated editorial snapshot, not a ranked poll: it gives no vote totals, sample size, or evidence that its order reflects popularity. Its ideas are fan speculation, not confirmed game content.
What the 2024 wishlist does—and doesn’t show
TechTimes published the list on November 1, 2024, summarizing candidate Mega Evolutions and the article’s reasoning for each. It does not establish that Reddit users broadly agreed on these picks, or that they were the ten most popular choices. The list is best read as a collection of fan-facing design and battle ideas from that moment.
In March 2025, Destructoid discussed Mega Evolutions returning in Pokémon Legends: Z-A and distinguished forms already shown at that time from possible new ones. That article does not establish the game’s or any downloadable content’s status as of October 2026. The ten candidates below should not be treated as confirmed additions. Destructoid’s March 2025 overview
The ten candidates and the ideas behind them
-
Zoroark
The TechTimes article likened Zoroark to “Generation 5’s Lucario,” framing it as a popular, wolf-like Pokémon with a shape-shifting identity that could inspire a striking Mega design. That comparison and its claim of strong demand are editorial characterizations, not measured popularity data.

-
Meganium
The article presents Meganium as the Johto starter that receives less affection than Feraligatr and Typhlosion, and criticizes its moves and stats. It floats Dragon/Grass or Grass/Fairy as hypothetical typings that might improve its competitive prospects. Neither the critique nor the proposed types represents an official plan.
-
Flygon
Flygon is framed as a recurring “missed opportunity” for a Mega form. The article points to its Ground/Dragon typing and vulnerability to Ice moves, then suggests Bug/Dragon as one possible fan redesign. That type change is speculative; Flygon also appeared in an indexed Reddit excerpt discussing possible new Mega Evolutions.
-
Golisopod
The article describes Golisopod as underused and imagines a Mega form or ability that could alter its battle role. It offers no specific confirmed design or ability.

Kalos starters: Chesnaught, Greninja, and Delphox
This is one grouped entry, not three separate slots. The article’s pitch is that Mega forms could give the Kalos starter trio a fresh boost. Its claim about how many Generation VI Pokémon had Mega Evolutions was historical to the 2024 article and is not needed to understand the wishlist.

Spinda
The article calls Spinda an unusual pick and suggests a larger form or additional spinning patterns as possible visual directions. These are illustrative fan ideas, not announced features.
-
Dragonite
The article compares Dragonite with pseudo-legendary Pokémon that have Mega forms and notes that Dragonite’s evolutionary line lacks an alternate form. That is the source’s case for giving it a new transformation, not evidence of a planned one.

-
Volcarona
Volcarona’s Fire/Bug typing and competitive relevance inform the article’s suggestion; it imagines a more expansive wing design for a Mega form. Volcarona also appeared in an indexed Reddit excerpt, but that example cannot establish community-wide demand.
-
Klefki
The article proposes a redesign featuring a larger key and keychain. Its suggestion that some fans dislike Klefki’s design is subjective, not a popularity measurement.

Sinnoh starters: Empoleon, Infernape, and Torterra
Like the Kalos entry, this is one slot covering three Pokémon. The 2024 article notes that none of the Sinnoh starters had a Mega form at the time and argues that new forms could appeal to fans of the trio.

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black Booster Bundle- Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black Booster Bundle contains six booster packs from Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Pitch Black.
- This is a great option for getting into the new Choas Rising expansion.
- A great gift for the Pokémon collector or player in your life.
How to read the starter entries
The ten entries are not ten individual Pokémon: two slots each group three starters. Counting those groups separately would produce a different total from the source article’s ten-entry format. The article offers rationales and concepts, but no consistent scoring system for comparing popularity, design potential, or competitive value.
Some broader community discussion is visible in indexed Reddit excerpts, including a May 2024 thread asking about new Mega Evolutions and a January 2025 prediction post. The excerpts are limited examples, not a representative sample or a basis for vote counts.
