10 Steam Deck Medieval Fest Bargains Under $10: Verified and Playable Picks

By VGSources Team 8 min read

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Steam’s Medieval Fest ran from April 20 through April 27, 2026, ending at 10 a.m. Pacific. It is over, so the prices below are historical US event prices reported during the sale—not offers you should expect to see in October 2026.

The strongest documented shortlist contains ten games priced below $10, with both Verified and Playable Steam Deck labels. Use it as a guide to what was worth watching during the festival, then open each game’s current Steam store page to check today’s price, regional currency and compatibility label.

What the historical under-$10 list actually covers

PC Guide published the ten-game shortlist on April 23, 2026, while the sale was running. Its prices were US event prices, not a permanent price cut and not a snapshot of October pricing. The list is also a selection rather than a complete catalog: Steam advertised a broad medieval theme spanning open-world survival, adventures, city builders and simulations, and other roundups identified additional bargains.

Because the event ended on April 27 at 10 a.m. Pacific, treat every amount in the table as a historical reference. Regional pricing, taxes, later discounts and the end of the event can all change what a game costs when you read this.

Ten documented Steam Deck picks under $10

The table is best read as a price-and-compatibility snapshot, not an objective ranking. The available reporting did not use one review scale, common performance test or standardized battery test, so it cannot establish that the most expensive entry is better than the cheapest one.

How Verified and Playable affect your purchase

PC Guide’s explanation is a practical rule of thumb: Verified games are expected to work smoothly out of the box, while Playable games can require adjustments. That wording belongs to the roundup, not a guarantee that every session will be effortless.

Verified

A Verified listing is the lower-friction choice when you want to install a game and start playing with minimal configuration. You should still read the individual store page, because labels and game builds can change after a roundup is published. A Verified mark does not tell you how much storage a game needs, whether its online services are active, or whether a particular control preference suits you.

Playable

Playable is not a warning to avoid a game. It signals that some part of the experience may need work: a control remap, an on-screen keyboard, a display setting, a launcher interaction or another small adjustment. The amount of setup varies by title and by your tolerance for troubleshooting. Check community notes and the current store listing before buying if you need a console-like experience.

Check the live listing before checkout

  1. Open the game’s current Steam store page on the account and store region you will use.
  2. Confirm the present price and currency; do not assume the April US amount still applies.
  3. Read the current Steam Deck compatibility badge and any recent notes.
  4. Check whether the game requires an additional launcher, persistent internet connection or account step that matters to your use case.
  5. Install only after confirming that the available storage and your control setup are appropriate.

Choosing by the kind of medieval game you want

Kingdom Two Crowns: the low-cost management option

This side-scrolling kingdom-building game is the clearest fit for players who want to plan rather than duel. You expand a settlement, recruit subjects and defend your borders, with cooperative play available as part of its appeal. Its low historical price made it an easy entry point for a shared-couch or relaxed strategy session. The Verified entry in the table makes it the simplest setup choice among the management-focused options.

Total War: Medieval II – Definitive Edition: campaign and battlefield strategy

This edition combines a turn-based grand campaign with real-time battles. It suits players who want maps, armies and long campaigns instead of a short action game. Strategy interfaces designed around a mouse can feel different on a handheld, so plan to experiment with trackpad, stick and back-button bindings. The title was listed as Playable, making control customization part of the decision rather than an afterthought.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War: a large action adventure

Shadow of War is the pick for an open-world action structure with exploration, melee combat and a campaign that can occupy many sessions. Its Verified listing reduces the setup risk for a player who wants a substantial single-player adventure. The historical price was especially notable because it placed a large-scale game below the psychological $5 mark during the festival.

For Honor: competitive melee combat

For Honor focuses on timing, stance and close-range fighting, with online modes central to its identity. It is a better match for players who enjoy repeated matches and learning opponents than for someone seeking a quiet offline role-playing campaign. Since the table marked it Playable, test the control layout and confirm that the online requirements work for your network before committing time to it.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance: a demanding historical role-playing game

Kingdom Come: Deliverance offers a grounded, first-person medieval role-playing experience rather than a fantasy power trip. Its slower pace and systems-heavy approach reward patience. The Playable designation means you should allow time for setup and performance checks, particularly if you are sensitive to small interface or control compromises on a handheld.

Felvidek: a compact, distinctive role-playing choice

Felvidek stands apart from the larger productions in the list with a deliberately retro presentation and a more unusual role-playing tone. It is a good candidate when you want something concise and stylistically different from open-world blockbusters. Its Verified listing makes it one of the safer impulse purchases for a short session or a second game alongside a longer campaign.

Rank #3

Chivalry 2: chaotic medieval multiplayer

Chivalry 2 is built around large medieval battles and expressive melee combat. The appeal is immediate: join a fight, learn the rhythm of attacks and defenses, and improve through repetition. Because it is multiplayer-focused, your experience depends on connectivity and the health of its matchmaking population as well as on Deck setup. The Playable label is a reason to check controls and online behavior before planning it as your main game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: the broadest role-playing commitment

The Witcher 3 is the choice for a long-form fantasy adventure with extensive quests and exploration. A Verified listing helps with the initial installation decision, but the scale of the game means you should also think about storage, download time and whether you want one enormous campaign or several smaller games. It was one of the list’s strongest value propositions during the event without being evidence that the game is always discounted.

Battle Brothers: turn-based mercenary management

Battle Brothers is for players who enjoy recruiting a fragile company, managing limited resources and making consequential tactical decisions. Its turn-based structure works well for short handheld sessions, although the amount of information on screen can make a comfortable control layout important. The Playable designation suggests checking text readability and input mapping before settling into a long campaign.

Dark Souls II: the near-$10 action role-playing pick

Dark Souls II is the list’s price-ceiling option and the natural choice for players who want demanding combat, exploration and repeated attempts at difficult encounters. It rewards deliberate movement and learning enemy patterns rather than rushing. Since it was listed as Playable, verify the current control behavior and any compatibility notes before buying if you have little patience for configuration.

Two additional festival recommendations outside the ten-game table

Steam Deck HQ’s separate coverage shows why the ten entries should not be presented as the complete festival catalog. It reported Asterigos: Curse of the Stars at $8.74 during the sale and Besiege at $2.99. Those amounts were also event prices, not current guarantees.

Rank #4
Valve Steam Deck 1TB Upgraded Handheld Gaming Console with Carring case, 1280 x 800 OLED Display Silicone Soft Cover Protector & Joystic Cap & Tempered Glass Film Bundle
  • Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
  • Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
  • Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
  • Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
  • The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.

The same roundup recommended some games priced above $10. Their omission from the table is therefore a price-filter decision, not a judgment that they were unsuitable for Steam Deck. If you are reconstructing a broader Medieval Fest watchlist, use the individual Steam pages and record the region and date of every price you save.

A practical way to use a historical deal list

Decide whether you need low friction or a specific genre

Start with your tolerance for setup. If you want to avoid troubleshooting, begin with the Verified entries: Kingdom Two Crowns, Shadow of War, The Witcher 3 and Felvidek. If you are comfortable changing controls or settings, the Playable entries open the list to competitive action, grand strategy, tactical management and demanding role-playing.

Match session length to the game

Short, repeatable sessions favor Kingdom Two Crowns, Felvidek and Battle Brothers. Longer commitments fit The Witcher 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Shadow of War. Multiplayer-oriented choices such as Chivalry 2 and For Honor also require you to consider connection quality and whether you want to play when other people are online.

Check the real total before purchasing

A sub-$10 sticker price is not the same as a sub-$10 checkout total in every location. Steam prices vary by country and store region, and tax treatment can differ. Confirm the final amount in your own cart rather than converting the historical US figure yourself.

Record the date if you are sharing the deal

If you publish or send someone this list, label every amount with the sale dates and the country used for the observation. That prevents an April event price from being mistaken for a standing price and makes later updates much easier.

Common mistakes when reading the list

  • Treating the sale as ongoing: Medieval Fest ended April 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pacific.
  • Calling the ten games the complete catalog: other coverage included Asterigos: Curse of the Stars and Besiege, among other recommendations.
  • Assuming Playable means broken: it indicates that adjustments may be needed, not that the game is unusable.
  • Assuming Verified guarantees every preference: the badge does not replace checking controls, online requirements, storage or current game updates.
  • Comparing prices without a region: the reported figures are US event prices and may not match your store.
  • Declaring an objective winner: the available reporting supplies prices and labels, not a common test that ranks performance or quality.

Bottom line for a Steam Deck buyer

For the least setup, the historical Verified group gives you four distinct starting points: kingdom management, open-world action, a long fantasy role-playing campaign and a compact retro-styled adventure. For variety, the Playable group adds multiplayer battles, grand strategy, tactical mercenary management, historical role-playing and a difficult action RPG. The key fact is timing: these were bargains during April’s Medieval Fest, not prices that remain guaranteed now. Check each live Steam listing before spending money.
