Xbox’s 10th-generation plan is being described as a family of devices, beginning with a home console—but a dedicated next-generation handheld has not been confirmed. A report published October 8, 2026, relaying comments attributed to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma at an internal town hall, says the strategy also recognizes that many players want to game on the go.
What Xbox has reportedly said about Gen 10
According to TOY-PEOPLE.COM’s report, based on internal town hall transcripts and memos obtained by Windows Central, Sharma described Xbox’s direction this way: “As we move into Gen 10, we’re shifting toward an entire family of devices.” The report also attributes to her the qualification, “There isn’t one device that fits everyone.”

Those are reported remarks from an internal meeting, not a public Xbox product announcement. The report says the home console would come first. It also says some products in the wider approach would be built by Xbox or Microsoft, while others would be developed with partners; it does not name future Gen 10 partners.

Does this confirm a Gen 10 Xbox handheld?
No. The report says Sharma acknowledged the desire for portable play, but it does not confirm a dedicated Gen 10 handheld, its design, or whether one is planned. Her reported wording is: “Of course, we’ll start by delivering a great console, but we also know that many players want to game on the go.”

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That statement signals awareness of demand, not a specific product commitment. The report provides no Gen 10 release date, price, performance target, technical specifications, game-compatibility details, or disc-drive information. It also does not establish a final lineup of devices.
Where the ROG Xbox Ally fits
The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally is an existing Microsoft-ASUS handheld gaming PC partnership and provides context for portable Xbox-style gaming. The report does not identify it as a Gen 10 device or announce a successor. Its existence therefore cannot be treated as proof that a next-generation Xbox handheld is coming.

What “family of devices” could mean—and what it doesn’t establish
The report speculates that Project Helix could encompass a console, portable hardware, and PCs. That is an interpretation of the broader device-family idea, not confirmed product detail. Until Xbox or Microsoft publicly identifies the Gen 10 lineup, it is not possible to make a supported buyer comparison between next-generation devices or say how they would differ in price, performance, portability, or compatibility.
What to watch for next
A public Xbox or Microsoft announcement would be needed to establish whether a handheld is planned and to confirm models, partners, timing, pricing, and specifications. For now, the reported direction is a home console first and a wider device strategy that acknowledges interest in portable gaming; the hardware details remain unknown.
