What “free” means in this list
Each game’s core play can be accessed without paying upfront. That does not mean every game is free of optional purchases: cosmetics, passes, expansions or convenience items may be offered. Check each game’s current storefront details to understand its monetization before you install it.
Performance is just as system-specific. The integrated GPU’s generation, available system memory, CPU, graphics driver, game settings and current game build all matter. A title that launches on one laptop may perform poorly on another, and meeting a minimum requirement is not a promise of smooth play.

Team Fortress 2
This team-based shooter is free-to-play on Steam. Its published requirements include legacy-era hardware details, so treat them as a starting reference rather than a reliable measure of how the current game will perform on a modern integrated GPU. Dota 2
Dota 2 is a free-to-play team strategy game on Steam. Check its current system requirements and consider whether its competitive, mouse-driven play style appeals to you before downloading. Steam’s Dota 2 support page provides technical information.
League of Legends
League of Legends is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA). Riot’s Windows requirements, dated September 22, 2026, list Intel HD 4600 graphics, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB free storage as minimums; the recommended specifications are Intel UHD 630 graphics, 4 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. Valorant
Valorant is a free-to-play tactical shooter. Because requirements and compatibility can change with updates, check the publisher’s current PC specifications for your system rather than assuming an Intel UHD or Iris Xe model is sufficient.
Counter-Strike 2
Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play competitive shooter on Steam. Its support page specifies a minimum video card with 1 GB or more of memory and support for DirectX 11 and Shader Model 5.0. That describes a capability threshold, not a guarantee of good performance from any integrated GPU. Review Steam’s Counter-Strike 2 technical requirements before installing.

Warframe
Warframe offers action and cooperative play with role-playing elements. Check its current requirements and how much storage the installation needs; neither game performance nor installed size should be assumed from the fact that the core game is free.
Brawlhalla
Brawlhalla is a free-to-play platform fighting game. Its lighter-looking presentation does not guarantee a particular frame rate on your laptop, but its genre makes it a different kind of option from the shooters and MOBAs here. A controller is optional and may feel comfortable for platform-fighter inputs; it will not improve graphics performance.

Trackmania brings time-trial racing to the list. Check the current edition’s requirements and account or launcher needs, and confirm which content is available without payment before choosing it.
OpenTTD
OpenTTD is a transport-management simulation, offering a slower, planning-focused alternative to action games. Check the current download source and requirements; its inclusion here is about having a no-upfront-cost game to consider, not a blanket compatibility certification for every PC.

The Battle for Wesnoth
The Battle for Wesnoth is a turn-based strategy game. Its turn-based pace can suit players who prefer planning over rapid reactions, and it broadens the list beyond competitive multiplayer. Confirm current operating-system compatibility and requirements for your device.
SuperTuxKart
SuperTuxKart is a kart racer and another option for players who would rather race than shoot or manage a strategy game. Check the current system requirements and reduce graphics settings if performance is poor.

- Identify your hardware. In Windows, open Settings > System > About to check your processor and installed RAM. Find the graphics adapter in Device Manager under Display adapters, or check the manufacturer’s specification for the laptop’s exact model.
- Compare against the current official requirements. Use the game publisher’s or storefront’s current page, and match the operating system, CPU, GPU and RAM. Also check storage space, account or launcher requirements, and whether an internet connection is needed.
- Allow for headroom. Minimum specifications are a basic compatibility threshold, not a promise of stable or smooth gameplay. Shared system memory, background applications, driver condition and the particular game update can affect results.
- Start with less demanding settings if performance is poor. Reduce resolution first, then try lowering shadows, anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion and post-processing. Close unnecessary background applications. These adjustments can help, but they cannot guarantee a fix if the hardware falls short.
Which kind of game should you choose?
- For competitive shooting: consider Team Fortress 2, Valorant or Counter-Strike 2, after checking current requirements and input preferences.
- For team strategy: try Dota 2 or League of Legends; both reward learning their systems and mouse-driven play.
- For action and co-op: look at Warframe.
- For fighting or racing: consider Brawlhalla, Trackmania or SuperTuxKart.
- For slower planning: try OpenTTD or The Battle for Wesnoth.
A mouse can make pointer-aiming games more comfortable, and a controller may suit a platform fighter, but neither is required and neither increases frame rate.
