The promotions have ended, and retailer prices, stock, bundles, and availability may now differ.
The strongest deals in this roundup were the PlayStation 5 Pro at about $649–$650, PlayStation VR2 at $300, the Razer Viper V3 Pro at as little as $100, and the Xbox Wireless Controller at $40. But the best purchase depended on your platform: PlayStation Portal and PS VR2 required a PS5, Backbone came in separate USB-C and Lightning versions, and VITURE glasses could require additional adapters or accessories.

- Best budget accessory: Xbox Wireless Controller at $40.
- Best PC mouse deal: Razer Viper V3 Pro at $100.

1. Sony PlayStation 5 Pro
Black Friday price: About $649–$650, versus retailer reference prices of roughly $749–$750.
#1 Best Overall
- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
The PS5 Pro was the headline console deal. Walmart listed it at $649, while Best Buy and Target showed approximately $650. Sony also announced a $100 Black Friday reduction in select regions. The console originally launched in the US at an official MSRP of $699.99, so the retailer comparisons represented about $100 below the displayed reference price and roughly $50 below launch MSRP.
It was best for existing or prospective PS5 owners with a high-quality 4K display—ideally one that supports high refresh rates—and an interest in games with PS5 Pro enhancements. Benefits vary by title; not every PS5 game receives the same improvement.
Watch-outs: The PS5 Pro is expensive, and its digital-focused design means disc-based buyers may need to purchase a separate disc drive. Owners of a 1080p television or players who do not care about enhanced visuals received less value. See Sony’s official PS5 Pro announcement for launch specifications and pricing.

Black Friday price: $300, down from $400; a Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle was also listed around $299.
At $300, PlayStation VR2 was one of the most substantial discounts in the list. Sony officially advertised $100 off during its 2025 promotion, and the Horizon bundle could be the better choice if the game was included at no extra cost.
This deal made sense for PS5 owners specifically seeking console virtual reality. It was not a general gaming accessory: the headset requires a PS5, additional setup space, and a willingness to buy into a smaller VR software ecosystem.
Compare the standalone headset and Horizon bundle before buying. Retailer inventory and bundle contents varied by location.

Black Friday price: $100 at Best Buy, $110 from Razer, or $120 at Amazon, versus a $160 reference price.
The Viper V3 Pro was a strong deal for competitive PC players who wanted a lightweight wireless mouse and responsive esports-oriented performance. The $100 listing represented the most compelling price in the roundup.
However, headline sensor specifications do not make a mouse universally better. Shape, hand size, grip style, weight preference, and comfort matter more for many players. Casual users may not benefit enough from a premium mouse to justify its normal price.
Check that the listing covers the same color, wireless configuration, and included accessories before comparing retailers. Razer’s official product page is the useful reference point.
4. Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller
Black Friday price: $40 through Xbox, $49 at Amazon, or $56 at Walmart, versus a $65 reference price.
At $40, the Xbox Wireless Controller was the simplest value purchase in the roundup. It suited Xbox owners needing a replacement or second controller, Windows PC players, and users of compatible mobile or cloud-gaming services.
Connectivity differs by setup. PC buyers should determine whether they will use Bluetooth, a USB cable, or a separate Xbox Wireless Adapter. Xbox cloud gaming also requires a supported device, network, and Game Pass subscription. Microsoft’s Black Friday announcement explains the promotion and cloud-gaming context.
5. Ubisoft Star Wars Outlaws
Black Friday price: $15 at Walmart, $20 at Best Buy, or about $32 at Amazon. Reference prices ranged from approximately $30 to $50.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Star Wars fans looking for a single-player action-adventure game saw the largest percentage discounts in the roundup. But this was a price-sensitive game purchase rather than an across-the-board best deal: the platform, edition, and retailer determined the real saving.
Do not compare Walmart’s $15 listing directly with Amazon’s $32 listing without confirming that both are the same platform and edition. A large percentage discount does not automatically make a game a better purchase than a smaller discount on hardware you already need.
6. Sony PlayStation Portal
Black Friday price: $179 at Walmart or about $180 at Best Buy and Sony, versus $200.
PlayStation Portal was a good targeted purchase for PS5 owners who wanted to play remotely while someone else used the television or while moving around the home. Sony promoted a $20 discount during its 2025 Black Friday event.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Portal is primarily a PS5 remote-play device, not a standalone handheld console. It requires a PS5 and a sufficiently reliable home or mobile network. Without those, the discount did not make it a good buy. The original roundup also described the promotion as the first observed discount; that claim belongs to the historical source and should not be treated as a current offer.
See the official PlayStation hardware store for current product availability rather than assuming the 2025 price remains active.
7. Backbone One mobile controller
Black Friday price: About $77–$80 for USB-C models and $85 for a Lightning model, versus roughly $99–$100.
Backbone One added physical controls to compatible phones for mobile games, cloud gaming, and remote play. The discount was worthwhile for phone owners who already knew they wanted a controller.
Compatibility warning: USB-C and Lightning models are different products. USB-C versions suit compatible Android phones and USB-C iPhones; Lightning versions suit older Lightning iPhones. Check the phone connector, case clearance, and game-controller support before ordering. Remote play also depends on network quality.

8. VITURE Luma Pro XR Glasses
Black Friday price: About $425 at Best Buy or $499 at Amazon. VITURE’s own 2025 promotion listed Luma Pro at $449.
VITURE glasses appealed to players who wanted a private, portable virtual screen for handheld gaming, remote play, cloud gaming, or video. The source-described specifications included up to a 120-Hz refresh rate, a 52-degree field of view, up to 1,000 nits of perceived brightness, and a virtual screen described as up to 152 inches.
Recommended Free Tools
Those figures describe a virtual display, not a physical 152-inch monitor, and “1,000 nits” refers to perceived brightness. Comfort, fit, eyesight correction, motion sensitivity, and connection compatibility are more important buying questions than the headline screen size.
The glasses may need a compatible USB-C video output, adapter, dock, or neckband depending on the phone, console, PC, or handheld. VITURE’s sale page also listed accessories such as a Mobile Dock, Pro Neckband, controller, and USB-C XR adapter. Confirm the exact SKU and generation: WIRED used the name “VITURE Luma Pro XR Glasses,” while VITURE’s own naming used “Luma Pro.” Check the official VITURE store and current accessory requirements.

Black Friday price: About $100 on Amazon, versus roughly $110.
The Arctis Nova 3P Wireless was recommended for players wanting a comfortable wireless headset with game-specific EQ profiles, fast charging, and broad connectivity through a USB-C dongle. The product itself, rather than the relatively small discount, was the main reason to consider it.
Do not assume “3P” means identical wireless, Bluetooth, wired, and microphone support on every platform. Confirm the exact console, PC, phone, and connection modes supported by the listing. SteelSeries maintains a headset category for current models and specifications.
10. Arcade1Up Pac-Man Deluxe Arcade Machine
Black Friday price: $449 at Walmart or about $450 at Best Buy, versus approximately $499–$500.
This was a gift and entertainment purchase rather than a conventional value-per-game deal. The cabinet included a 17-inch color LCD, arcade-style controls, Pac-Man artwork, a light-up marquee, fake coin slots, multiple Pac-Man titles, and additional games such as Galaga.
It suited families, retro fans, and buyers who wanted a physical centerpiece. It required assembly and considerable floor space, and a conventional console could offer more games per dollar. The $50 saving applied to the listed cabinet prices, not to every Arcade1Up model or a permanent manufacturer-wide reduction.

11. Alienware 16X Aurora gaming laptop
Black Friday price: About $2,100 from Dell, $2,240 from Amazon, and approximately $2,350 at Best Buy, depending on configuration.
The Alienware 16X Aurora was aimed at buyers who needed a high-end portable gaming PC and valued a bright 240-Hz display, rear ports, a responsive touchpad, solid gaming performance, and decent battery life. Those performance and battery observations were part of WIRED’s product testing, not new testing for this article.
The discount was modest—roughly 5–10 percent—and retailer configurations were not necessarily comparable. Compare processor, graphics card, RAM, storage, display, and warranty before calling one listing the best deal. Dell’s laptop storefront is the appropriate place to check the exact configuration.
12. SteelSeries Arena 9
Black Friday price: $550 through SteelSeries, versus about $680.
The Arena 9 suited desktop PC gamers building a room-filling speaker system. Its appeal was immersive sound without wearing a headset, but the setup required room, cable management, and a suitable listening environment.
It was a poor fit for apartments, shared spaces, headphone-first players, or anyone wanting a simple soundbar. Surround speakers can help create positional audio, but they do not replace a good headset in every room or gaming situation. Confirm the exact speaker arrangement, connections, and platform support before buying.
Which deal was actually worth buying?
For PS5 owners
Choose the PS5 Pro if you wanted better visuals and had a display capable of showing the difference. Choose Portal if your problem was access to the television. Choose PS VR2 only if you specifically wanted VR. These products overlap less than their PlayStation branding suggests, and each adds a different prerequisite or setup cost.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →For PC gamers
The Viper V3 Pro was the clearest accessory bargain, while the Arctis Nova 3P was a reasonable multi-platform headset purchase. The Alienware laptop made sense only for buyers already shopping in the high-end portable-PC category; its percentage discount was not exceptional.
For mobile and portable gaming
Backbone was the lower-cost, straightforward controller choice, provided the connector matched your phone. VITURE offered a much more unusual private-screen experience, but its total cost could rise after adding a dock, adapter, neckband, or other required accessory.
For gifts and shared entertainment
The Xbox controller was the safest broad-use gift. Star Wars Outlaws was attractive at $15–$20 if the platform matched the recipient’s console. Arcade1Up was the memorable centerpiece gift, but only where the recipient had room and wanted a cabinet.
How to compare archived gaming deals fairly
- Compare the exact product. Check platform, color, storage, memory, connector, bundle, and included accessories.
- Separate reference price from MSRP. A retailer’s crossed-out price is not automatically the manufacturer’s official price.
- Calculate total ownership cost. Include a PS5 Pro disc drive, VR games, VITURE adapters, an Xbox wireless adapter, laptop upgrades, or speaker accessories where applicable.
- Check prerequisites first. Portal and PS VR2 require a PS5; Backbone requires the correct phone connector; cloud gaming requires a supported device, network, and subscription.
- Check the date. A listing can remain indexed after stock ends, change price, or redirect to a newer model. None of the prices above should be treated as live August 2026 offers.
Bottom line
For the strongest combination of product quality and discount, the PS5 Pro, PS VR2, Razer Viper V3 Pro, and Xbox Wireless Controller stood out. Portal, Backbone, and VITURE glasses were better described as targeted buys because their value depended heavily on hardware ownership and compatibility. The Alienware laptop, Arena 9, and Pac-Man cabinet were worthwhile only for narrower audiences, while Star Wars Outlaws was chiefly a question of platform, edition, and lowest price.
