This ranking weighs how central Force abilities are, how they shape combat or progression, the kind of story each game offers, and how distinct the experience is. It is an editorial selection, not an objective or play-tested scorecard.
How the ranking works
A game ranks higher here when using the Force is a defining part of play rather than a decorative detail. The list also considers whether powers offer meaningful variety, how they fit the game’s combat and progression, and whether the overall experience gives fans a distinct way to inhabit the Star Wars universe. These titles span RPGs, action adventures, shooters, and LEGO games, so their Force systems are not directly interchangeable.
The official descriptions establish detailed Force features for several of the top entries, but do not provide a consistent measure for comparing all twelve. The order is therefore an editorial judgment, not a claim that one game has objectively more satisfying powers than another. Store availability and supported editions can change; check the relevant storefront for your region and platform before buying.
The 12 best Star Wars games with Force powers
1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Knights of the Old Republic is the strongest pick for players who want the Force to be part of a larger role-playing build. StarWars.com describes it as an epic RPG set four thousand years before the Galactic Empire, and says players can “Learn to use the Force with over 40 different powers, plus build your own Lightsaber.” That is the clearest official indication of power breadth among these picks.
#1 Best Overall
- The following games are included in the cartridge: STAR WARS Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (3.6 GB)
- STAR WARS Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast (1.1 GB)
- STAR WARS Episode I Racer (254 MB)
- STAR WARS Republic Commando (2.5 GB)
- STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed (3.4 GB)
Its appeal is not simply the number of abilities: the RPG format makes character development and the broader adventure central to the experience. Choose it if you want to shape a Force-using character rather than focus primarily on real-time saber action. StarWars.com also says a remake is being made for PS5 and PC; that statement is not a release-date or current-availability confirmation. StarWars.com: Knights of the Old Republic.
2. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Jedi: Survivor combines third-person action-adventure play with a continuing Jedi story. StarWars.com describes it as a single-player, galaxy-spanning adventure set five years after Fallen Order, and says its cinematic combat returns with additional Force abilities and new lightsaber fighting styles. That combination makes it a strong fit for players who want Force use integrated with action combat rather than isolated from it.
EA says the game can be played on its own, although newcomers may prefer Fallen Order for story context. Progress does not transfer between the two games. EA’s pages link to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox storefronts and list supported platforms, but edition and regional availability should be checked at purchase time. 3. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Fallen Order is the natural starting point for players who want a Jedi action-adventure in which Force abilities develop along the journey. EA frames the story around rebuilding the Jedi Order, developing Cal Kestis’s Force abilities, and mastering the lightsaber; PlayStation’s feature page likewise describes adding Force powers and abilities as the adventure progresses.

4. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
For unrestrained Force spectacle, The Force Unleashed is the clearest choice in this ranking. StarWars.com casts the player as Starkiller, Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, and specifically names Force Grip and Force Repulse. Its story takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
Rank #3
- A new hero, a story untold in an emotionally gripping new Star Wars campaign that spans over 30 years
- The ultimate battleground
- Galactic scale space combat: Space combat has been designed for Star Wars Battlefront II from the ground up with distinct handling, weapons and customization options
- Battery: No battery used
The game ranks below the top three because its appeal is more concentrated in the power fantasy than in the broader role-playing or evolving Jedi-adventure structures above. That focus is also its draw: pick it when dramatic Force attacks are the priority. StarWars.com: The Force Unleashed.
5. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords belongs on a Force-focused list for players drawn to the role-playing approach of the original KOTOR. It is a distinct sequel, but the evidence available for this ranking does not establish a precise power count, specific ability list, or current supported editions. Its placement is a recommendation for fans seeking another RPG set in the Old Republic era, not a claim that its Force system surpasses the first game’s documented breadth.
6. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Jedi Academy is a natural inclusion for players looking for a Jedi-centered game outside the Cal Kestis series. It offers a different point of entry into Jedi action, but a detailed comparison of its usable powers and present-day platform availability is not established here. Consider it if you want to explore another game built around a Jedi identity, and verify the edition and platform before purchasing.

- Standard Edition for Xbox Series X (disc) includes the full Star Wars Zero Company game. Not compatible with Xbox One. Single-player turn-based tactics set in the Clone Wars era—lead Hawks in an intense campaign.
- Build your squad from clone troopers, scoundrels, astromechs and even a Jedi—combine abilities and gear in deep Tactical-Strategy combat.
- Plan at your base, adapt on dynamic battlefields and make decisions that shape missions and replayability in this cinematic Star Wars story.
- Customise Hawks and your operatives, tailor loadouts and unlock powerful squad synergies designed for Strategy, Turn-Based and Sci-Fi fans.
7. Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Jedi Outcast provides another Jedi-focused option from the Jedi Knight line. It ranks below the more fully documented entries because this list cannot establish a comparable official feature set or a current platform-by-platform availability picture for it. Its inclusion reflects the strength of its Jedi premise as a recommendation category, not a measured score for Force variety.
8. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
The sequel is the next choice for players who want more of the high-impact Force-action premise associated with The Force Unleashed. Specific ability details and current supported editions are not established in the evidence used for this ranking, so it sits below the original rather than receiving an unsupported claim of expanded powers or improved combat.
9. Star Wars: The Old Republic
The Old Republic extends the Old Republic setting into an online role-playing game. It may suit players who want a longer-form RPG experience in that era, but this ranking does not assert a particular number of Force abilities, class feature comparison, or current access terms. Check the current platform and account requirements before starting.

10. Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017)
Battlefront II offers a different kind of Force experience from a dedicated Jedi adventure or RPG: it is a multiplayer-focused Star Wars game with Force-using characters. It ranks lower because this ranking prioritizes games where Force use structures a larger share of the experience. Specific character abilities and current online-service details are not established here, so consult the game’s current platform listing for what is available.
11. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
The Skywalker Saga is the lighter, family-friendly style of pick in this list. It covers the saga in LEGO form, making it a tonal contrast to the action-heavy Jedi games and RPGs above. This ranking does not make a detailed claim about its power roster or platform availability; check the listing for the edition that fits your device.
12. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Dark Forces II rounds out the list as an earlier Jedi Knight-era option for fans interested in the series’ history. It is included as a distinct Force-focused recommendation rather than on the basis of a verified comparison of its powers, controls, or modern compatibility. Confirm current availability and supported systems before buying.
Quick Recap
Which game should you start with?

- For a dramatic power fantasy: choose The Force Unleashed, whose official description highlights Force Grip and Force Repulse.
- For an RPG rather than an action adventure: the two KOTOR games are the closest fit in this selection.
