How the expectations changed
Nintendo’s January 3, 2025 2025 Switch lineup roundup included Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond among its selected planned games. Nintendo cautioned that its listed dates were accurate at the time of publication, so that roundup is likewise a dated plan rather than a current calendar.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond received a specific date
On September 19, 2025, Nintendo announced that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would launch on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2025. The announcement describes Samus being transported to planet Viewros, where she uses equipment, weapons, psychic abilities, and an advanced bike to explore and survive. What this list can—and cannot—tell you now
The roundup captures BGR’s forecast for Switch games in late 2024 and 2025. Its dates should not be treated as evidence that a game is still upcoming, and the supplied official updates do not establish a current release status for every title in the list. The sources also do not establish the Switch 2 hardware launch date, so the original “until Switch 2 arrives” framing cannot serve as a current timeline.
