The best headphones for Meta Quest 3 are not necessarily the best conventional Bluetooth headphones. For interactive VR, choose either a short 3.5mm wired pair, USB-C earbuds with a dedicated low-latency dongle, or an audio-integrated head strap. Ordinary Bluetooth is convenient, but its delay can make rhythm games, gunshots, dialogue, and positional cues feel disconnected.
Our top wireless pick is the Soundcore VR P10. For the simplest and most predictable setup, choose a compact wired model such as the Final VR500. If you want headphones, battery extension, and a strap in one accessory, consider the KIWI Design K4 Duo.

Important: Quest 3 has a 3.5mm headphone jack; Quest 3S does not. Quest 3S owners should use USB-C audio, Bluetooth, or a suitable adapter.

This is a research-based editorial shortlist, not a claim that every model was hands-on tested by VGSources. Availability and prices change, so check the linked manufacturer page before buying. Past price signals placed the VR P10 around $79.99, the Vega T1 around $69.99, and the Razer Quest model around $149.99, but those figures should not be treated as current prices.

Why ordinary Bluetooth is not the default for VR
Quest 3 can pair with Bluetooth headphones, but successful pairing does not guarantee a good gaming experience. Bluetooth audio can introduce enough delay for sound to arrive after the corresponding visual event. That is especially obvious in Beat Saber and other rhythm games, shooters, weapon-heavy games, music-training apps, and dialogue-heavy scenes.
The issue can also become more noticeable in PC VR. Audio may travel through the PC while the headset is already receiving streamed video, so wireless audio delay can compound the streaming delay. Bluetooth can still be perfectly acceptable for films, podcasts, YouTube, and non-interactive music, particularly if you do not notice the lag.
RTINGS notes that many Bluetooth headphones have noticeable gaming latency. The useful distinction is not “wireless versus wired,” but generic Bluetooth versus a dedicated low-latency wireless link. A USB-C 2.4GHz dongle generally gives a more suitable path for interactive VR, while 3.5mm and USB-C wired audio avoid wireless transmission delay altogether. See RTINGS’ gaming-earbud latency context.

Quest 3: includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth, and a USB-C port.
Quest 3S: does not include the Quest 3’s 3.5mm headphone jack. Use Bluetooth, USB-C audio, a USB-C wireless dongle, or a compatible USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter.
A USB-C dongle can occupy the headset’s only USB-C port. If you use a battery pack or battery head strap, prefer a wireless system with documented USB-C power passthrough. Do not assume that a generic USB-C hub or splitter will solve the problem: it may introduce power, physical-fit, data, or software compatibility issues.
For the same reason, every 3.5mm recommendation above is marked as Quest 3 only unless an adapter is added. Quest 3S compatibility for third-party USB-C headsets and dongles should be checked against the current product documentation and headset software rather than inferred from the connector alone. UploadVR’s Quest accessory overview also distinguishes the two headsets’ audio hardware.

1. Soundcore VR P10 — best overall wireless
The VR P10 is built around the problem Quest owners actually have: interactive audio latency. Its USB-C transmitter uses a dedicated low-latency wireless connection rather than ordinary Bluetooth, and the dongle includes charging passthrough. Bluetooth support also makes it more useful beyond Quest.
Best for: native Quest gaming, fitness, and cable-free room-scale play. Watch out for: the earbuds are a practical gaming choice rather than an automatic pick for premium microphone or music performance. Confirm stock and current pricing at the official product page.
2. PRISMXR Vega T1 — best low-latency alternative
The Vega T1 uses a USB-C dongle intended to avoid the delay associated with ordinary Bluetooth. Its transmitter has charging passthrough, an important advantage when the Quest port is also needed for power. GamesRadar’s review specifically describes the dongle as the low-latency mechanism for VR use.

Razer’s Quest-specific model combines a dedicated USB-C 2.4GHz transmitter with Bluetooth. Its strongest argument is the Meta-oriented design and premium positioning, not necessarily value: competing dongle earbuds can address the same latency problem for less.
Best for: readers who want a premium, Quest-focused product. Watch out for: price and availability. Treat microphone support, charging behavior, and Quest 3S fit as model-specific claims; check the official specifications.
4. KIWI Design K4 Duo — best integrated audio head strap
The K4 Duo is not a conventional removable headphone. It combines a head strap, battery extension, and built-in wired audio, giving users a cleaner all-in-one setup with fewer loose parts. Tom’s Guide describes the design as adding approximately three hours of battery life, although real runtime varies with use.
Best for: owners who already want a replacement strap and value convenience over minimum weight. Watch out for: added bulk, cost, and reduced flexibility compared with separate earbuds. Verify that the listing is for your headset model at KIWI Design.
5. Final VR500 — best simple wired gaming earbuds
The VR500 is a compact 3.5mm in-ear option. A wired connection is the least risky choice for rhythm games, fast action, and positional cues because there is no Bluetooth pairing or wireless audio path to troubleshoot.
Best for: Quest 3 owners who want small, light earbuds and reliable audio. Watch out for: it is not plug-and-play on Quest 3S, and an inline microphone should not be assumed to work for Quest voice chat.
6. Sony INZONE Buds — best crossover low-latency earbuds
The INZONE Buds are designed for gaming with a USB-C wireless dongle and Bluetooth LE support. They may make sense for someone who uses the same earbuds with a PC as well as VR.
Best for: a broader gaming setup. Watch out for: Quest compatibility should be confirmed for the current model and firmware, and the dongle may obstruct the charging port when plugged directly into the headset. For PC VR, the transmitter may be better connected to the PC.

9. EPOS GTW 270 Hybrid — best older multipurpose option
The GTW 270 Hybrid pairs compact earbuds with a USB-C dongle, Bluetooth, and aptX Low Latency support. Its comfortable, multipurpose design keeps it relevant when found at a sensible price.
Best for: buyers who locate new stock with a valid warranty. Watch out for: availability is a serious concern, and battery life is comparatively short. Do not treat an old listing as evidence of current support.
10. Samsung AKG USB-C Earphones — best inexpensive USB-C wired option
These compact USB-C earbuds avoid Bluetooth delay and do not require a transmitter. They can be a useful low-cost solution for Quest 3S owners, provided the headset recognizes the USB-C audio device.
Best for: inexpensive, portable wired audio. Watch out for: USB-C headsets do not all behave identically on Quest, and microphone or inline-control functionality is not guaranteed.
11. Apple EarPods with USB-C — best familiar open-fit earbuds
USB-C EarPods are widely familiar and use an open design that lets some room sound through. That can be useful during mixed-reality play or exercise, but it also reduces isolation and immersion.
Best for: readers who already like the fit and want a simple USB-C option. Watch out for: Quest controls and microphone functions may not fully operate.
12. JBL Quantum 50C — best budget USB-C gaming option
The Quantum 50C is a gaming-oriented wired in-ear model with USB-C. It offers a lower-cost alternative to dedicated wireless earbuds without adding battery management.

These lightweight wired earbuds are inexpensive and easy to replace. They are a sensible backup for Quest 3 owners who prioritize low cost and low latency.
Best for: casual gaming and replacement pairs. Watch out for: Quest 3S requires a compatible USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter, and the microphone should not be assumed to function.
14. Koss KSC75 — best lightweight open-back option
The KSC75 is extremely light and open, making it appealing for active players who dislike sealed earbuds. Open construction also helps users hear their surroundings.
Best for: breathable, lightweight play. Watch out for: the ear clips can interfere with some Quest straps, and isolation is minimal.
15. Sony MDR-EX15AP — best ultra-budget backup
The MDR-EX15AP is a basic, compact 3.5mm earbud option for readers who need something inexpensive and readily replaceable.
Best for: a backup pair or occasional use. Watch out for: basic sound, a potentially fragile cable, and limited usefulness from the microphone and controls on Quest.

3.5mm wired: best for reliability and minimum complexity on Quest 3. USB-C wired: low latency, but compatibility and port access require checking. USB-C 2.4GHz dongle: the best cable-free route for interactive VR. Bluetooth: the most convenient, but the riskiest for timing-sensitive games.
How to connect headphones to Quest 3
3.5mm wired headphones
- Start Quest 3 and enter the headset.
- Insert the 3.5mm plug fully into the headphone jack.
- Start a game or media app and confirm that sound has moved from the built-in speakers.
- Adjust volume using the Quest controls.
If the speakers continue playing, remove and firmly reconnect the plug, then restart the headset. Treat the jack primarily as an audio output. Do not assume an inline microphone will work, especially with different TRRS wiring or separate microphone and headphone plugs. Oversized or right-angle connectors may collide with the facial interface or strap.
Bluetooth headphones
- Disconnect the headphones from your phone or laptop.
- Put them into pairing mode.
- Open the Quest universal menu, then Quick Settings and Settings.
- Open Devices or Bluetooth; labels can change between Horizon OS updates.
- Select the headphones and test them in a game with visible or rhythmic sound cues.
If pairing fails, restart Quest, remove the headphones from its Bluetooth list, and pair again. If delay remains distracting, switch to wired audio or a dedicated USB-C transmitter.
Best Value
- Compatible: The On-Ear Earflap Ear protector enhanced sound compatible with quest 3/2 headset.
- This ear muff for quest 3 2 concentrates the sound of the VR headset, and enhances the sound effects. The immersion brought by the game sound effects can be improved.
- Ear Muffs for quest 3 2 made of High quality Synthetic Resin, protein faux leather. providing maximum comfort and reducing ear pressure during long-term use.
- Convenient to install and remove, the weight is slight. Stable wearing, not easy to fall off, comfortable to wear, cost-effective.
- Package: 1 Pair *Headphone for quest 3.
USB-C wireless earbuds
Plug the supplied transmitter into Quest’s USB-C port; do not pair the earbuds through the normal Bluetooth menu unless the manufacturer specifically requires it. The transmitter receives Quest’s digital audio and sends it over a dedicated low-latency link. Pair the earbuds with the transmitter according to the product instructions, then check whether the headset can still be charged. Passthrough charging is particularly valuable on long sessions.
Best choices by use case
- Beat Saber and rhythm games: Final VR500 or another 3.5mm wired pair; otherwise use the VR P10, Vega T1, or another dedicated dongle system.
- Competitive shooters: prioritize low latency, secure fit, and accurate imaging over ANC or heavy bass.
- Fitness: small, stable earbuds or an open design such as the KSC75; avoid cables that can catch and ANC if you need to hear people nearby.
- Films and YouTube: Bluetooth may be acceptable, while over-ear headphones can be comfortable for seated use.
- PC VR: test the complete audio path. A dongle may need to plug into the PC, and streaming plus wireless audio can increase perceived delay.
- Mixed reality: open or ambient designs preserve awareness better than strongly isolating earbuds or ANC.
Comfort, fit, and safety checks
- Try different ear tips before judging stability.
- Use fins only when they fit comfortably beneath the facial interface.
- Keep wired cables short and route them so they cannot snag during movement.
- Check compatibility with glasses and your chosen head strap.
- Large over-ear cups can add heat, weight, and strap pressure; they are better for seated games, films, racing, and flight simulation.
- Open designs leak sound and provide less immersion, but can help with safety awareness.
- Run a left/right stereo test before playing. A reversed channel layout can invert positional cues in VR.
Quest’s software and each game provide the spatial processing. Headphones reproduce that processed signal; they do not independently create positional audio. Judge them by imaging, channel consistency, dialogue clarity, bass control, fit, and latency rather than by “true 3D audio” marketing.
Common problems and fixes
Audio is delayed
Test the same cue with a wired pair. If the delay disappears, the Bluetooth connection is the likely cause. For native Quest, use 3.5mm, USB-C wired audio, or a dedicated low-latency dongle. For PC VR, test whether the transmitter works better when connected to the PC and reduce other streaming or wireless sources.

For 3.5mm headphones, push the plug in fully, reconnect it, and restart Quest. For USB-C models, confirm that the headset recognizes the device and that the product supports USB audio rather than requiring a proprietary host or console mode.
The USB-C dongle prevents charging
Use a model with documented charging passthrough, such as the Vega T1 or VR P10 where supported. Avoid assuming a generic splitter will work. Check whether your head strap or battery cable physically blocks the dongle.
The microphone does not work
Output support does not prove microphone support. Quest may continue using its internal microphone, while an inline remote, TRRS microphone, or wireless dongle input may not be recognized. Check the specific model’s documentation and test voice chat before relying on it.
The left and right channels are reversed
Play a stereo left/right test. If the channels are reversed, stop using that adapter or headset for VR and try a different cable or adapter. Reversed channels can make positional sounds appear behind or beside you incorrectly.

Can I use AirPods with Quest 3?
Yes, Quest 3 can pair with Bluetooth headphones, including compatible AirPods. They may introduce noticeable delay in games, so they are better suited to films, podcasts, and other non-time-critical audio.
Can Quest 3 use USB-C headphones?
Quest 3 can use compatible USB-C audio devices, but USB-C compatibility is not universal. Confirm that the headset supports USB audio and check whether the connection blocks charging.
Does Quest 3 support a microphone through the headphone jack?
Do not assume it does. The 3.5mm jack should primarily be treated as audio output; microphone and inline-control behavior depends on the specific headset and wiring.
Can I charge Quest 3 while using USB-C earbuds?
Only conveniently if the wireless dongle or adapter provides compatible USB-C power passthrough, or if your setup has another supported charging route. A generic hub or splitter is not guaranteed to work.
