For Java Edition, start with 406731341346898148 for a plains village at spawn. For Bedrock Edition, try -997106344756191692 for a village network or -2927611868038818840 for an island-village survival world. These recommendations are separated by edition because the same seed number does not guarantee the same village location in Java and Bedrock.
This list contains 15 research-backed village seeds for new survival worlds, hardcore runs, builders, speedrunners, multiplayer settlements, and challenge play. The seed, edition, version, and coordinates all matter. The locations below are reported by the linked community posts, seed databases, and guides; they should be verified in a fresh world on the stated version rather than treated as universally guaranteed.

Village and pillager outpost around X 272, Y 82, Z 249 | High-risk rescue challenges | The outpost reportedly overlaps the village |
Coordinates use Minecraft’s X, Y, Z order when all three values are available. When a source gives only X and Z, those are the horizontal coordinates; do not invent a Y value. Coordinates and structure claims should be checked in a new world with the correct edition and version selected.

- Bedrock Edition 26.40: released on August 4, 2026, according to the official Bedrock 26.40 changelog.
Java 26.2 adds the Chaos Cubed content, including Sulfur Caves, Sulfur, Cinnabar, and Sulfur Cubes. Bedrock 26.40 contains additional experimental Drop 3 content. For a normal survival comparison, do not enable experiments, previews, add-ons, or custom data packs unless a seed specifically requires them.
What is a Minecraft village seed?
A Minecraft seed is the value used to initialize procedural world generation. When the edition, game version, generator settings, and relevant data packs match, entering the same seed can reproduce the same terrain, biomes, and structure layout. Microsoft’s world-generation documentation explains the role of seeds and generation settings.
A seed is not a saved world file. It does not copy another player’s buildings, chests, inventories, villagers, explored chunks, or farms. It recreates the generated starting conditions, after which each world develops independently.
Java Edition village seeds
1. Best current Java starter: -8474696455356865864
Target: Java 26.2. Reported setting: a village near a beach and a small cherry grove.
This is the strongest recent Java starter for players who want a useful village without sacrificing attractive early terrain. The community report describes a cleric with a brewing station, two librarians, nearby caves, and strong early resources. That combination can provide beds, food, early trading options, and a natural path toward potion brewing.
Coordinates: the originating Java 26.2 report does not publish a dependable X/Y/Z location. Do not use an invented coordinate for this seed. Load the seed near spawn or check it with a seed map configured specifically for Java 26.2. The report is available on Reddit.
Best for: a relaxed Java survival world with a beach base and cherry-grove decoration. Verification status: recent community report; not independently loaded for this article.

Target: Java 26.2. Reported location: roughly 500–600 blocks from spawn.
This seed is built around variety: three villages are reported in the early-game area, including one zombie village, with a pillager outpost nearby. That gives you a normal settlement to use immediately, a potential curing project, and enough population for a connected trading or transport network.
The outpost changes the character of the seed. It is excellent for players who want a story-driven settlement or rescue challenge, but it is not the safest first world for a completely new player. The linked August 2026 community report specifically warns that a Chunkbase preview may default to the wrong version.
Best for: multiplayer towns, villager logistics, and players who want several settlements within a manageable travel distance. Verification status: reported for Java 26.2; check the exact village and outpost positions before committing to a hardcore run.
3. Best Java village at spawn: 406731341346898148
Target: Java 26.2. Village: a plains village at spawn.
If your priority is immediate access to beds, crops, houses, and villagers, this is the clearest Java recommendation. A plains village is generally easier to expand than one scattered across cliffs or dense forest, and its flat surroundings are well suited to a starter base, animal pens, crop fields, and a future trading hall.
A pillager outpost is reported at approximately X 368, Z 544. That is far enough away to avoid being the first thing you see, but close enough to become a later combat objective. Keep the outpost separate from the village until you are ready to manage patrols and raids. The recommendation comes from a Java 26.2 community post.
Best for: beginners, peaceful survival, and speedier access to a functioning base. Risk: the outpost is a nearby danger, not a reason to approach the village with Bad Omen active.
4. Best Java mountain-village megabase: -1407625683096375766
Target: Java 26.2, with the original report also using Java 26.1.2. Village area: four villages inside mountain bowls at spawn.
This seed is for builders who want a dramatic natural enclosure rather than a flat starter plain. Multiple villages nested in mountain bowls create ready-made districts for a castle, ring road, farms, villager quarters, or a large enclosed settlement. The terrain also gives a megabase a strong visual identity before you place a single block.
Generation may be awkward: village houses can be separated by slopes, caves, and elevation changes, so this is less convenient than the plains-village pick. The discoverer also reports that Bedrock has a different village arrangement. Treat the four-village claim as Java-specific and verify it in Java 26.2. Source: the mountain-bowl community report.
Best for: mountain megabases and scenic settlement builds. Edition warning: do not carry the Java village coordinates into Bedrock.
5. Best Java cherry-lake village: 69420018030897796
Target: Java 26.2. Reported village area: approximately X 64, Z 48.
A village around a cherry-grove lake is one of the better choices for a scenic long-term base. The lake offers a natural town center, the cherry grove supplies a distinctive palette, and the surrounding terrain can support bridges, docks, terraces, and a compact trading settlement.
The available report supplies X and Z but not a reliable surface Y coordinate. Use X 64, Z 48 as the horizontal search area and inspect the terrain rather than digging straight down. A Bedrock counterpart is listed separately below; it is not the same world layout. Source: PCGamesN’s seed coverage.

Target: Java 26.2. Village: around X 225, Z 0. Nearby structures: pillager outpost around X 215, Z 261 and ruined portal around X 347, Z 242.
This seed puts useful civilization and immediate danger in the same early-game region. The village can supply beds and food, while the outpost creates a clear objective: secure the settlement, establish defenses, and decide when to confront the pillagers. A second village, cherry grove, and bamboo jungle are also reported nearby.
Do not kill pillagers and then casually enter the village. The Bad Omen effect can trigger a raid when you enter a village, so prepare walls, lighting, escape routes, and a way to protect villagers first.
Best for: challenge runs, multiplayer defense projects, and players who want a village with a built-in conflict. Source: PCGamesN.

Target: Java 26.2, but verify the structure locations because the published coordinates originated with an older 1.21.x map. Village: X 208, Y 100, Z -288. Exposed mineshaft: around X 215, Y 9, Z -261. Trial chamber: around X 137, Y -13, Z -199.
This is a strong utility seed for players who want the village to lead directly into underground progression. The reported village provides the normal early survival benefits, while the nearby mineshaft and trial chamber offer routes toward ores, combat loot, and more dangerous exploration.
At Y 9 and below, caves, lava, and mineshaft openings make blind digging especially risky. Travel to the coordinates, establish a safe entrance, and bring food, blocks, a shield, and spare tools. Source: All Things How.
8. Best Java speedrun-oriented village: 9232
Target: Java 26.2. Village: X -159, Y 70, Z 119. Reported End portal area: approximately X 1146, Y 31, Z -828.
Recommended Free Tools
The village is close enough to make the early survival phase efficient, and the seed is also reported to include a shipwreck, mineshaft, and a relatively accessible stronghold route. It is a useful choice for players who want to practise moving from village supplies into Nether and End progression.
The stronghold and portal-room coordinates are especially version-sensitive. Do not promise a fixed number of pre-filled Eyes of Ender or specific portal-room loot without checking the exact Java 26.2 world. Source: All Things How.
Best for: speedrun practice and structured progression. Risk: the stronghold is not a village-at-spawn feature; it is a later journey.
9. Best Java zombie-village challenge: 135132278163449878
Target: Java 26.2. Zombie village: approximately X 16, Y 71, Z 64, near a cherry grove.

This seed starts with an unusual abandoned settlement rather than a normal trading hub. Zombie villagers can be cured and the village rebuilt, making it a satisfying long-term project for players who enjoy turning a dangerous start into a functioning town.
Secure the area before nightfall, light every building, and prepare the curing setup before exposing zombie villagers to daylight or hostile mobs. A zombie village may have altered or missing infrastructure, so it should not be sold as an instant supply of normal villagers.
Best for: challenge players, restoration projects, and anyone who wants a trading hall with a backstory. Source: All Things How.
10. Best Java flower-mountain village: 3821725889229843661
Target: Java 26.2. Village: around X 329, Y 130, Z 43. Cherry grove: around X 163, Y 132, Z 128.

The village’s coastal position makes it a practical starting point for fishing, boats, and a shoreline base. Check the buildings yourself before planning around a specific profession or item. Source: the Bedrock community report.
Best for: Bedrock players who want a recognisable coastal settlement and early access to village infrastructure.
12. Best Bedrock cherry-lake equivalent: -2032795982907864146
Target: Bedrock 26.40. Reported feature: a cherry-lake village concept corresponding to the Java seed 69420018030897796.
Recommended Free Tools
This is a Bedrock counterpart for players who want the same general idea as the Java cherry-lake pick: a village, water, and cherry-grove scenery. It is not the same generated world, and the coordinates are not interchangeable with Java. The supplied community coverage does not provide a dependable Bedrock X/Y/Z location, so use a Bedrock-configured seed map before setting out.
Best for: scenic Bedrock construction. Verification status: map-check required; do not describe the Java and Bedrock entries as identical. Source: PCGamesN.
13. Best Bedrock village cluster: -997106344756191692
Target: Bedrock 26.40. Reported villages: taiga village at X 200, Y 112, Z -328 and snowy village at X 261, Y 100, Z 147. Up to seven villages are reported within about 1,000 blocks.
This is the strongest Bedrock choice for a settlement network. Taiga and snowy villages give the world visual variety, while several villages can be connected with roads, rails, boats, or Nether portals. Separate villages can also reduce the need to put every villager profession in one crowded trading hall.

The seven-village total depends on the search radius and the exact version. Treat the two listed locations as reported targets and verify the full cluster in a Bedrock 26.40 seed map. Source: All Things How.
14. Best Bedrock island village: -2927611868038818840
Target: Bedrock 26.40. Savanna village: around X 264, Y 71, Z -376.
This island-survival seed combines a savanna village with warm-ocean exploration. A shipwreck, warm ruins, and an ocean monument are reported in the wider area, giving the world a clear progression from village survival to ocean expeditions.
Island starts are attractive but can be less forgiving. Check the island for wood, animals, and enough space for crops before travelling to the monument. The source reports villages in both editions for this seed, but their positions shift, so use the Bedrock coordinate above only on Bedrock. Source: All Things How.
15. Best Bedrock high-risk village: -4541735665408914819
Target: Bedrock 26.40. Village and pillager outpost: reported around X 272, Y 82, Z 249.
This is a deliberate rescue-and-defense challenge rather than a beginner-friendly starter. The pillager outpost reportedly overlaps the plains village, creating an immediate objective: secure the villagers, light the area, build defenses, and decide whether to remove the outpost or turn the whole location into a fortified town.
Do not enter the village after killing patrol leaders while Bad Omen is active unless you are prepared for a raid. A safer opening is to scout from outside, gather basic tools and food, protect villagers, and establish an escape route before starting combat.
Best for: high-risk Bedrock survival, multiplayer defense, and players who want the village itself to be the central problem. Source: All Things How.

A village can compress several early-game tasks into one location:
- Beds: villagers provide beds for sleeping and a quick early respawn point.
- Food: village farms can provide crops while you establish your own fields.
- Shelter: houses can be used as temporary protection while you gather wood and stone.
- Villagers: residents can become a long-term trading network once you secure and assign them.
- Iron access: villages contain iron golems and can lead to early iron equipment or a later iron farm.
- Profession blocks: farms, lecterns, smithing stations, and other workstations can support trading infrastructure.
- Building foundations: an existing settlement gives a survival world a natural starting town, even if you eventually replace every house.
Not every village contains a smithing building, a rare profession, or valuable chest loot. A village’s usefulness comes primarily from its residents, beds, crops, and location—not from an assumed diamond chest.
How to choose the right village seed
| Criterion | What to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Village access | At spawn, within 200 blocks, or within a clearly stated early-game trip | New players benefit more from immediate beds and food than from a distant spectacular structure |
| Version confidence | Exact edition and release, ideally with a fresh-world or map check | Structure placement can change after updates |
| Survival utility | Wood, water, crops, animals, safe ground, and villagers | A scenic village is less useful if it cannot support the first nights |
| Terrain and building quality | Plains, coasts, islands, cherry groves, valleys, or mountain bowls | The best base site depends on whether you value convenience or scenery |
| Secondary structures | Outposts, shipwrecks, portals, mineshafts, trial chambers, temples, or strongholds | Nearby structures add progression and exploration goals |
| Risk clarity | Zombie status, outpost overlap, island isolation, and elevation | A challenge seed should not be mistaken for an easy starter |
| Edition coverage | Separate Java and Bedrock coordinates | A single coordinate is not enough for a claim covering both editions |
Java and Bedrock: do the same seeds work?
The same number can be entered in both editions, but the resulting village locations are not guaranteed to match. Modern Java and Bedrock often have substantial terrain and biome-generation parity, which is why a seed may look broadly similar in both versions. Structures use edition-specific generation behaviour, however, and villages, pillager outposts, temples, strongholds, and mineshafts can be absent, displaced, or arranged differently.
For this reason, a label such as Java and Bedrock should mean one of two things: the same seed was checked separately in both editions, or the writer is referring only to similar terrain rather than identical structures. The Minecraft Wiki seed overview, Microsoft’s world-generation documentation, and ChunkSeeds all support treating edition and version as separate map settings.
How to enter a seed
Java Edition
- Open Minecraft Java Edition.
- Select Singleplayer.
- Select Create New World.
- Open the world-generation or advanced options where the Seed field appears. Current guides describe this as World tab, then the seed box, although labels can change between game builds.
- Paste the complete number, including the minus sign for a negative seed.
- Create the world.
- Use
/seedif commands or permissions allow it, or verify the seed through the world’s available settings or your chosen map tool.
Entering a seed during world creation does not require cheats. A command such as /seed can require the appropriate permissions, particularly in multiplayer. The menu path is also documented in the current seed guide from All Things How.
Bedrock Edition
- Select Play.
- Select Create New, then Create New World.
- Open the Game settings.
- Enter the number beside Seed, or use the seed picker when the recommendation is an official preset.
- Enable Show Coordinates before creating the world.
- Leave experiments disabled for normal survival testing.
- Create the world.
The official Bedrock Seed Picker FAQ gives the path as Minecraft → Create New → Create New World → Game → box next to Seed. Interface labels can vary slightly by platform, but the seed is entered during world creation.

- X: east and west position.
- Y: vertical height.
- Z: north and south position.
For example, X 208, Y 100, Z -288 means move to X 208, elevation Y 100, and Z negative 288. Many seed lists provide only X, Z because the village is visible on the surface; a coordinate such as 208, 100, -288 includes a suggested height.

Do not dig straight down when you reach a coordinate. Villages can sit beside ravines, caves, mineshafts, lava, or trial chambers. Approach from the surface, inspect the terrain, and create a safe entrance before mining below a listed structure.
Also remember that the initial player spawn is not necessarily exactly X 0, Z 0. Descriptions such as at spawn mean the village is in the initial spawn area, not that the player must appear on the exact coordinate origin.
Using seed maps without getting the wrong result
Seed maps are useful for checking village coordinates, biome boundaries, strongholds, trial chambers, outposts, shipwrecks, ancient cities, and other structures. Useful tools include ChunkSeeds, MC Seed Map, and SeedLander.

- Version: Java 26.2 or Bedrock 26.40, unless the seed entry says otherwise.
- Dimension: Overworld, Nether, or End.
- Seed: the complete number, including its minus sign.
Some map links default to an older release such as Java 1.21.5, Java 1.21.11, or 26.1. A map can therefore show an apparently authoritative village at the wrong location. Recent community seed posts specifically warn that automatically generated Chunkbase links may use a different version from the one used to discover the seed.
If the village is missing
Work through this checklist before abandoning the seed:
- Check the edition. Java coordinates do not automatically work on Bedrock.
- Check the version. Use Java 26.2 or Bedrock 26.40 for this list unless an entry explicitly identifies an older test.
- Check the number. Re-enter every digit and confirm that a negative seed still has its minus sign.
- Check coordinate order. Confirm whether the source gave X/Z or X/Y/Z.
- Check your spawn assumption. You may have spawned away from the exact origin, and a description saying near spawn does not mean visible from every spawn point.
- Disable experiments and modifications. Turn off Bedrock experiments, add-ons, data packs, and custom generation settings for baseline testing.
- Correct the map settings. Make sure a seed map is not using an older Java or Bedrock version by default.
- Use a fresh world. Generate a new world rather than checking a world created with another seed or another set of generation options.
- Update the platform. On Bedrock, confirm the game has fully updated on the particular console, computer, or mobile device.
If the coordinates are correct but the village looks different, the likely causes are edition-specific structure generation, an older release, a map-tool mismatch, or a structure candidate that does not generate under the selected settings. This is why exact current-version verification is more useful than an attractive screenshot alone.
Important edge cases
Village at spawn versus village nearby
At spawn is best for beginners, speedruns, and immediate survival. A village within 200–500 blocks is still an easy early-game destination and may offer more interesting terrain. A village several hundred to 1,000 blocks away can be worth including if it has exceptional scenery or structures, but it should never be described as a village at spawn. Locations beyond 1,000 blocks are exploration destinations, not immediate starter villages.
Large village versus practical village
A large village may offer more beds, crops, villagers, and trading potential, but it can also generate awkwardly across hills, cliffs, water, or caves. A smaller plains village on flat land may be the better base. Choose based on whether the goal is a convenient trading hall, a dramatic screenshot, or a large building project.
Villages beside pillager outposts
These are challenge seeds. Pillagers may threaten the settlement immediately, and the player may need to rescue villagers before building. Killing pillager patrol leaders can give Bad Omen; entering a village while affected can trigger a raid. Secure the village first and do not approach the outpost casually.
Zombie villages
Zombie villages contain zombie villagers rather than a normal population. Restoring one requires curing zombie villagers with the appropriate potion and golden-apple setup. They can become excellent trading hubs, but they are unsafe at night and may have missing or altered village infrastructure.
Blacksmith and chest claims
Blacksmith is common community shorthand for village smithing buildings. Where possible, identify the actual building type—such as armorer, weaponsmith, or toolsmith—or say blacksmith-style building. Chest loot is randomized and version-dependent. A report of diamonds in one chest does not guarantee diamonds in every copy of the seed.
Strongholds and trial chambers
Stronghold locations, portal-room details, trial chambers, mineshafts, and other structures can be affected by edition and version. A stronghold should not be described as directly beneath a village unless the exact current-version location has been checked. Likewise, do not promise a particular number of filled Eyes of Ender or a specific loot table without direct verification.
Multiplayer and seed visibility
On a Bedrock dedicated server, non-operator players may not be able to see the world seed in Game Settings under Bedrock 26.40. The world owner or server administrator can provide the seed instead. Do not assume every multiplayer player can retrieve it independently; permissions and server settings matter. The change is noted in the official Bedrock 26.40 changelog.
Can you change the seed in an existing world?
No. A seed is selected when a new world is created. Entering a different seed does not transform an existing world, and changing generation settings after chunks have been created can produce mismatched borders. To use one of these recommendations, create a fresh world and enter the seed before generation begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Minecraft village seed in 2026?
There is no single universal winner because Java and Bedrock generate structures differently. For Java, 406731341346898148 is the best easy village-at-spawn choice, -6977600871532184528 is the strongest multi-village pick, and 69420018030897796 is the scenic cherry-lake choice. For Bedrock, use -997106344756191692 for a village cluster, -2927611868038818840 for an island world, or -4541735665408914819 for a high-risk outpost challenge.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Do Minecraft village seeds work on both Java and Bedrock?
The same seed number can be entered in both editions, but village and other structure locations may differ. Use edition-specific entries and coordinates. A claim that a seed works on both editions should mean it was checked separately in both, or that only the broad terrain is similar.
Can I use these seeds on consoles?
Yes, consoles use Bedrock Edition, so choose the Bedrock 26.40 entries rather than the Java entries. Confirm that the console has installed the current update and verify the seed in a fresh world.
Do Minecraft seeds change after updates?
They can. Large terrain features may remain similar, but structures, caves, loot, and newer generation features can change. Always check the edition and version listed with the seed.
Do I need cheats to use a seed?
No. Entering a seed during world creation does not require cheats. Commands such as /seed may require permissions, especially in multiplayer, so use the world settings or ask the owner for the seed when necessary.
Does a village chest always contain diamonds?
No. Chest loot is randomized and version-dependent. Treat diamond or other loot reports as observations from a particular test, not guarantees.
Can I use a seed in an existing world?
No. Seeds are selected during world creation and do not replace terrain in an already-generated world.
The Bottom Line
Choose the edition first. Java players should begin with 406731341346898148 for the simplest spawn-area start, while Bedrock players should consider -997106344756191692 for multiple villages or -2927611868038818840 for island survival. Enter the complete seed in a fresh world, including the minus sign, enable coordinates on Bedrock, and verify the listed location using the correct Java 26.2 or Bedrock 26.40 map setting. Treat village, loot, stronghold, and structure claims as version-specific reports—not promises that apply identically everywhere.
