15 Rarest Fortnite Skins in 2026, Ranked by Availability

There is no verified public Fortnite skin ownership ranking. This 2026 list compares closed acquisition windows, promotional outfits, and long Item Shop absences—and explains why those kinds of scarcity are not the same.

There is no verified public count of how many players own each Fortnite outfit, so no definitive ownership-based “rarest” ranking is available. This list ranks 15 notable outfits by how restricted their known acquisition windows have been, while distinguishing closed Battle Pass or promotion windows from long absences in the Item Shop. Shop-history dates are a snapshot as of 8 October 2026, not a promise that an outfit will never return.

How this ranking works

“Rarest” is not an official Fortnite statistic. The sources available for this ranking do not establish verified outfit ownership counts, and community estimates are not a substitute for Epic-published data. Instead, the order is an editorial judgment based on each outfit’s documented acquisition route and availability history.

  • Closed acquisition windows: Battle Pass rewards and limited promotions had specific historical ways to obtain them. A closed window is different from a shop outfit that has simply been absent for a long time.
  • Long Item Shop absences: These outfits may return. A last-seen date describes the archive’s record, not a permanent status.
  • Returns matter: Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper have returned through the OG Season Shop, so claims that they have never returned are outdated.

The archive used for the entries describes its approach as checking whether an outfit can still be obtained and, if not, since when: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive. FRVR uses a narrower approach, considering outfits previously sold in the regular Item Shop and ranking them by time away from that shop: FRVR’s rarest Fortnite skins ranking. The list below focuses on notable scarcity histories across both closed windows and shop absences, rather than presenting either source’s method as an official measure.

The 15 rarest Fortnite skins in 2026

  1. Black Knight

Why it ranks here: Black Knight is a clear example of a reward tied to a closed Battle Pass window. The archive identifies it as a Chapter 1 Season 2 Battle Pass tier 70 outfit. That season ended on 21 February 2018, and the archive says the outfit has not appeared in the Item Shop. This is strong evidence of a historically limited acquisition route; it is not an official statement that Epic can never make it available again. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

Fortnite Legendary Skull Trooper (Gilded) - 6-inch Articulated Figure with Harvesting Tool, Back Bling, and Code for Bonus Virtual Item
    • GILDED TROOPER: Board the Battle Bus and drop in with Fortnite Legendary Skull Trooper (Gilded)!
    • FORTNITE: 6-inch action figure is inspired by the video game Fortnite
    • ARTICULATED: Feature 28 points of articulation to win any Battle Royale
    • ACCESSORIES: Comes equipped with Back Bling and Harvesting Tools
    • BONUS CODE: Code for virtual item included: Mecha-jolly
  2. Galaxy

Why it ranks here: Galaxy’s documented route was a Samsung device promotion associated with the Galaxy Note9 and Tab S4, rather than a standard shop rotation. The archive lists the promotion as closed in August 2018. That makes its scarcity different from an outfit merely waiting for another shop appearance; the specific eligibility and cutoff details are based on the archive’s account. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

  3. iKONIK

Why it ranks here: iKONIK was also tied to a device promotion, giving it a limited promotional acquisition path rather than an ordinary Item Shop history. Its scarcity should be understood through that promotion route, not an unsupported estimate of how many accounts own it. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

  4. Black Widow (Outfit)

Why it ranks here: Black Widow is a notable long-absent Item Shop outfit. Shop absence can make an outfit hard to encounter, but it does not establish a closed acquisition window or prove that a return is impossible. Source: FRVR shop-absence ranking.

  5. Travis Scott

Why it ranks here: The archive records 27 April 2020 as the outfit’s last Item Shop appearance. That supports calling it long absent from the shop as of the archive’s recorded history, not permanently unobtainable. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

  6. Rue

Why it ranks here: Rue is included among outfits notable for extended Item Shop absence. Unlike a reward limited to a completed Battle Pass, shop absence alone leaves open the possibility of a future return. Source: FRVR shop-absence ranking.

  7. Special Forces

Why it ranks here: Its relevance here is a long gap between recorded shop appearances, not a documented one-time promotion or Battle Pass lock. That makes it a less conclusive kind of scarcity than outfits with a clearly bounded original acquisition window. Source: FRVR shop-absence ranking.

  8. Predator

Why it ranks here: Predator was obtained through Chapter 2 Season 5 Jungle Hunter quests, rather than the regular shop. The archive gives the season period as ending on 15 March 2021. That describes the historical acquisition route; it does not establish current availability or a permanent exclusivity policy. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

  9. Renegade Raider

Why it ranks here: Renegade Raider originally came from the Chapter 1 Season 1 Season Shop, but it returned in the OG Season Shop. The archive lists the return beginning 20 December 2024 and later availability through 31 January 2026. Its history is therefore not “never returned”: its original early-season status matters, but a later shop return changes the scarcity picture. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

  10. Aerial Assault Trooper

Why it ranks here: Like Renegade Raider, Aerial Assault Trooper originated in the Chapter 1 Season 1 Season Shop and later returned through the OG Season Shop. The archive lists returns beginning 20 December 2024 and availability through 31 January 2026. It should not be described as an outfit that has never returned. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

  11. Chun-Li

Why it ranks here: The archive lists 26 August 2026 as Chun-Li’s last Item Shop appearance. That date is a changing shop-history snapshot, not evidence of a permanent lockout. Source: Fortnite.GG cosmetics archive.

  12. Kratos

Why it ranks here: Kratos is included as a notable long-absent shop outfit. The relevant scarcity signal is time away from the shop, which can change if Epic brings the outfit back. Source: FRVR shop-absence ranking.

  13. Demogorgon

Why it ranks here: Demogorgon’s place on this list reflects extended shop absence, not a documented ownership count. Like other shop outfits, it should be described as hard to find in the rotation rather than permanently unobtainable. Source: FRVR shop-absence ranking.

  14. World Warrior

Why it ranks here: World Warrior is another outfit whose scarcity case is based on shop-history absence. That is a useful measure of how rarely it has been available in the shop, but it cannot tell us how many players own it. Source: FRVR shop-absence ranking.

  15. Kai Cenat

Why it ranks here: The archive lists 4 September 2026 as Kai Cenat’s last Item Shop appearance. That recent recorded date illustrates why shop-based rankings change: a last-seen date is not a permanent rarity verdict, and the list should be revisited as rotations continue. What “rare” does—and does not—tell you

A closed Battle Pass or promotion window is a stronger historical scarcity signal than a long shop gap, because the original route had a defined period or eligibility condition. It still does not establish how many players obtained the outfit, nor does it prove that Epic will never offer it again. Conversely, an Item Shop outfit’s long absence is a record of past rotation, not a guarantee about future availability.

For that reason, precise claims such as “owned by less than 1% of players” should not be treated as verified without a public, attributable ownership dataset. The sources cited here do not provide one. If you are checking whether a particular shop outfit is available now, consult the live shop rather than relying on an old ranking or an archived last-seen date.
