Why “best” depends on the mode and card choice
Ultimate Team: highest rating versus squad fit
Overall rating gives a quick headline comparison, but it does not tell you which card best suits your formation or role. Check position and the card’s pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, and physicality against what your squad needs. The database exposes these attributes; no gameplay testing is established here.

Base cards and special cards
A special card can have a different rating from the same player’s base item. A ranking that allows special cards can therefore produce a different order from one limited to base cards. Do not compare a special-card rating against a base-card list as though both use the same scope.
Career Mode
Career Mode ratings are a separate question from Ultimate Team item ratings. The listed Ultimate Team figures do not establish a Career Mode top 20.

How to make a reliable top-20 list
- Choose one EA FC 25 database snapshot and one mode—such as Ultimate Team or Career Mode.
- Set the item scope: base cards only, or base and special Ultimate Team cards.
- Sort the selected listings by the rating field relevant to that mode.
- Keep one card per player, applying the same rule to every player—for example, the highest-rated eligible card.
- State how ties are handled, and label the result with the snapshot date and card scope.
Without those choices and a complete sorted listing, a numbered list of 20 would imply precision the available evidence does not support.
