The 2022 Lenovo Legion Y9000P and Y7000P can charge through USB-C at up to 135W, but that top rate uses Lenovo’s proprietary charging protocol. Standard USB Power Delivery (PD) is limited to 100W. The compact charging option is useful for travel and battery top-ups; it is not a replacement for the main adapter when you want full gaming performance.
Which Legion laptops support 135W USB-C charging?
The claim applies to the 2022 Lenovo Legion Y9000P and Y7000P announced for the China market—not every model that has used either name. Lenovo’s February 2022 launch coverage identifies both laptops with 80Wh batteries and Legion Super Rapid Charge Pro. The Y9000P was a 16-inch, 12th-generation Intel gaming laptop; the Y7000P was a lower-positioned model in the same launch family. 135W Lenovo charging is not the same as 135W USB PD
Reports on the launch distinguish Lenovo’s higher-wattage mode from standard USB PD. The reported proprietary profile is 20V at 6.75A, which equals 135W; the stated standard-PD ceiling is 100W. A charger’s advertised wattage alone does not establish that it can negotiate Lenovo’s 135W mode.

The 135W/100W distinction is reported by PConline and ITHome. Calling the top rate simply “135W USB PD” obscures the compatibility requirement.

What the Legion C135 charger does
Lenovo introduced the single-port C135 GaN USB-C adapter alongside the 2022 Legion ecosystem. It was described as supporting Lenovo’s proprietary 135W mode as well as PD, QC and PPS for broader device compatibility. Its compact GaN design makes it a portable secondary charger, especially for work or travel. The associated C135 launch coverage describes the accessory; Lenovo’s product listing is for a Y9000P bundle with the C135W adapter.
That does not make it a universal replacement for the laptop’s main power brick. The laptops’ gaming hardware can demand substantially more power than 135W, particularly under combined CPU and GPU load. Lenovo’s launch material listed Y9000P GPU options reaching 140W or 150W, depending on configuration; those figures are GPU power alone. Contemporary reporting also cited a combined CPU-and-GPU budget above 185W for a higher-end Y9000P configuration.

How fast is the advertised charge?
Lenovo advertised charging the 80Wh battery to approximately 80% in 30 minutes with the appropriate charger. Treat that as a manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed result or an independently verified test. It does not mean the laptop draws a constant 135W throughout the session.
- Battery temperature, health and starting charge level affect charging speed.
- Charging generally slows near full capacity.
- CPU/GPU use consumes some incoming power, so gaming or other heavy work can reduce the net battery gain.
Which port and charger should you use?
Launch reporting identifies the rear USB-C port for the high-wattage charging specification. Do not assume every USB-C port on the laptop supports the same input. Confirm the port markings and manual for your exact regional SKU before buying a charger; port placement and capability can differ across models and years. PConline’s report specifies the rear port.

For the full 135W rate, use a charger and cable that support Lenovo’s proprietary mode. A conventional 100W USB-PD charger can charge the laptop at up to the reported standard-PD limit, but cannot provide the advertised proprietary 135W rate. A generic charger marked 140W or 165W is not automatically compatible: check its supported protocols, the cable’s current rating and whether its output is shared across ports. A multi-port adapter may deliver less when another device is connected.
Can you game on a 135W USB-C charger?
Not at the laptops’ maximum performance level. A 135W input ceiling is below the power demands of demanding gaming workloads on these systems, before accounting for the display and other components. While connected over USB-C, a laptop under heavy load may reduce performance, draw extra power from its battery, or do both. The charger’s fast-charge feature concerns battery replenishment; it does not raise CPU or GPU performance limits.

The C135 is best treated as a lighter adapter for productivity, browsing, video playback, travel and top-ups. Keep the original high-wattage adapter available for demanding games and other sustained, high-load work.

A compact charger makes sense if you
- Want a smaller secondary adapter for travel, classes or meetings.
- Use the laptop mostly for productivity away from home.
- Need to top up the battery rather than sustain maximum gaming performance.
It is a poor fit if you
- Expect to replace the original adapter permanently or game at full performance while plugged in.
- Are considering a generic high-wattage charger without confirming Lenovo-protocol compatibility.
- Own a different year or regional Legion model and have not checked its specifications.
Before buying, verify the model year and SKU, the correct port, charger protocol, cable rating, plug and regional voltage, and whether the adapter’s output is shared. This matters especially for used laptops: confirm that the included main adapter is present and that the USB-C charging behavior, battery condition and regional warranty meet your needs.

Model year and availability matter
This was a China-market launch feature from February 2022, with Lenovo’s launch event on February 28. It should not be assumed for later Y9000P or Y7000P generations, or for a differently named Legion sold elsewhere. Several official Lenovo listings for the 2022 machines and C135 bundle now show unavailable or discontinued status rather than dependable current stock.
