Riot announced that 2XKO Early Access would begin on October 7, 2025, the same day its Closed Beta ended. Season 0 started with Early Access, but Ranked did not: Riot scheduled Ranked to launch two days later, on October 9, 2025. Since then, Riot has announced a different 2026 plan, including the scheduled removal of Ranked lobbies.
When did 2XKO Early Access start?
Riot announced on September 23, 2025 that Early Access would begin on October 7, 2025, when the Closed Beta ended. The launch opened Season 0 and was described as a full-feature version of the game. Riot’s Early Access announcement also said that content earned after October 7, 2025 would no longer be reset.
The rollout included combo trials, Battle Pass and Ranked tuning, and balance work. Early Access was not, however, the Ranked launch date.
When did Ranked start in 2XKO?
Riot’s Season 0 patch notes said Ranked would start on October 9, 2025, with patch 1.0.1.1—two days after Early Access began. Riot said the additional time would let it include adjustments and backend improvements made after Closed Beta. The date appeared in the Season 0 patch notes published October 6, 2025.

Who was the new 2XKO character in the announcement?
Riot’s September 2025 announcement teased the arrival of a tenth champion alongside Early Access, but did not name the character. It said a gameplay reveal and developer update would follow. Riot’s later character plans name Lux for patch 1.3.1 and Samira for October’s patch 1.3.3, but those announcements do not establish either character as the identity of the earlier tease.
How Riot’s 2026 plan changed
The September 2025 announcement forecast five seasons in 2026, each bringing a new champion, Ranked reset, Battle Pass, and more. That was the plan at the time—not the schedule Riot later announced.

In an August 20, 2026 update, Riot said Ranked lobbies were scheduled to be disabled with patch 1.3.1, planned for September 8, 2026. Riot said skill-based matching would be streamlined through Casual lobbies. The same update identified Lux for patch 1.3.1 and Samira for October’s patch 1.3.3. Riot cautioned that its dates and plans may change; consult its August 2026 update and newer patch notes for the latest status.

As part of its First Impact program, Riot said it would support 22 community-run tournaments during the rest of 2025. Each event would receive a pot bonus, with an additional prize for winning as a duo. Riot named Evo France, scheduled for October 10–12, 2025, as the program’s first event. These were announcements for 2025, not current event listings.
