Why these three fit different parts of a Sunderland save
A useful build-around shortlist should offer more than three versions of the same player. Sunderland’s FM24 squad listing gives these three different position groups, making them plausible choices for distinct needs in your squad and tactic. The listing is a third-party guide, however, so treat its positions as broad coverage—not proof of ideal roles or instructions.

These position labels come from Sortitoutsi’s Sunderland FM24 guide. They do not establish exact attributes, ideal tactical roles, potential ability, or how any player will develop in a particular save.
Jack Clarke: a wide attacking option
Clarke is listed as AM RL, giving him coverage on either attacking flank. He is the clearest pick of the three if your squad-building priority is a wide threat. How you use him should depend on your formation and the needs of the side; the listing does not verify a best role, duty, or set of instructions.

Dan Neil: a central option
Neil is listed as DM/AM C, spanning defensive and attacking midfield positions through the centre. That makes him the shortlist’s natural central-midfield choice if you want a player to consider for the middle of the pitch. The broad labels alone do not say which role or tactical setup will suit him best.
Jobe Bellingham: a flexible development project
Bellingham is listed as DM/AM/F C, covering central defensive midfield, attacking midfield, and forward positions. That range makes him the most positionally flexible of the three on this listing, and a candidate to develop in the part of your system where the squad needs him. It does not establish his potential rating or guarantee that he will thrive in any of those positions.

Check your mode and database before committing
FM24’s starting squad and transfer context depend on the career mode and data update you select. The publisher describes Original, Real World, and Your World modes; Your World sets squads and budgets as of the career’s start date and cancels future transfers. The mode therefore matters when deciding what your Sunderland squad looks like at the beginning of a save. See Football Manager’s mode and release information.
Sports Interactive announced its final FM24 data update on 9 April 2024 and said a new save was needed to use the latest player and team data. If exact squad status, ratings, or other database-dependent details matter to your plan, check the build selected for your save rather than assuming every FM24 database shows the same information. The third-party Sunderland listing may reflect a particular snapshot; its valuations and wages should not be treated as timeless or as official Sports Interactive data. What to verify in your own save
- Confirm which of the three players are in your starting squad under your chosen mode and database.
- Check their displayed attributes and positional familiarity in your save before assigning a role.
- Use Clarke’s flank coverage, Neil’s central coverage, and Bellingham’s broader central/forward coverage as starting points—not as substitutes for your tactic or your own in-game checks.
- Do not rely on an exact age, rating, potential, valuation, or wage from a third-party listing without confirming it against your selected database.
FM24 availability is a separate question
On 4 December 2024, Football Manager said FM24 would remain on storefronts until the planned digital launch of FM25 in March 2025. That was a historical statement about planned availability and does not confirm whether FM24 can be purchased in 2026. See the publisher’s December 2024 announcement.
