How to choose a gacha game
The label tells you little about what playing feels like. Before committing, compare the game’s core activity, the time it asks for, and whether you want a mostly solo story or social and competitive modes. Random character or item rewards may be part of progression, but the details of purchases and guarantees differ by title.
- Combat: Decide whether you want real-time action, turn-based battles, tactical placement, rhythm play or puzzles.
- Session pattern: Story chapters and exploration suit longer sessions; repeatable battles, daily tasks and idle progression can fit shorter visits but may encourage regular check-ins.
- Social play: Check whether cooperative or competitive features are optional or central to the experience you want.
- Practical fit: Confirm regional availability, platform and minimum OS or hardware requirements on the official store or game site.
- Spending: Read the current in-app purchase information and understand how random pulls, currencies and limited-time banners work before paying.
Action and exploration
Genshin Impact
A fit for players who want an action RPG built around real-time combat and exploration. Its open-world structure is a different proposition from games focused on short, repeatable battles.

Honkai: Star Rail
A turn-based RPG option for players who prefer team planning and story progression to real-time action. Apple’s App Store editorial feature has surfaced it alongside other mobile RPGs, but that feature is not proof of availability in every region.
Fate/Grand Order
A story-led turn-based RPG with a particularly important compatibility caveat: the official Japanese site lists specific OS and hardware requirements, so check the requirements for your device and region rather than assuming support. That site describes the game as basically free with some in-app purchases; this description should not be applied to the other games in this list. This is not a game to start: a corporate disclosure published in June 2026 reported that service ended on May 28, 2026. The date matters because the title appeared in the 2023 list, but its service has since terminated. See the Square Enix corporate disclosure.
Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia
This title also appeared in the 2023 list. A community-maintained shutdown list reports that service ended, but that secondary source is not enough to treat its current status as definitively established here. Check for an official notice before relying on an old listing.

Girls’ Frontline
A strategy-focused collection game in the source list. Check the platform and regional store listing carefully; the 2023 list does not establish current operational status.
Summoners War: Sky Arena
