Reburn is the new name of the Ukrainian studio formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine, and its first announced game under that identity was La Quimera, a story-driven sci-fi shooter. The change does not apply to the separate, Malta-based 4A Games, which said it had not rebranded and was continuing work on the next Metro.
Which studio became Reburn?
The Ukrainian studio formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine announced its rebrand as Reburn on February 27, 2025, at the same time it revealed La Quimera. The new name was intended to make the distinction from the Malta-based 4A Games clearer, according to Game Developer’s report on the announcement.

The similarly named studios should not be conflated. On February 28, 2025, 4A Games published an official clarification saying it had not changed its name, was working on the next Metro with Dmitry Glukhovsky, and had another new intellectual property in development. Reburn is the studio associated with La Quimera; 4A Games remains the studio that affirmed its identity and Metro work.
In that statement, 4A Games described a team of about 200 or more people, with roughly 150 still in Ukraine. The studio said it works from offices in Kyiv and Sliema, remotely, and sometimes from the front line in Ukraine; those headcount figures are its approximate 2025 estimate, not a precise current roster.

What is La Quimera?
La Quimera is Reburn’s original first-person sci-fi shooter, set in a dystopian future Latin America. Its Steam description places the player in the role of an operative in a fractured world where microstates depend on mercenary forces. The game is designed for solo play or online co-op with up to two friends, making three players the maximum party size. See the Steam listing for the current store description.
GameSpot reported that filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and Reburn’s E.J.A. Warren created and wrote the game’s world and narrative. Reburn CEO and founder Dmytro Lymar described the project as drawing on the studio’s experience making narrative-driven shooters for the Metro series, according to GameSpot’s announcement coverage.

Release status and Early Access content
Steam lists Reburn as both developer and publisher and gives May 7, 2025, as the PC Early Access release date. The game remained in Early Access on the listing reviewed in October 2026. Reburn’s developer notes describe the current Early Access build as including the first four campaign levels and approximately five hours of story-driven content; these are the developer’s estimates and may change as development continues.
Reburn says it plans for Early Access to last up to 18 months, while explicitly allowing that schedule to change depending on feedback and development pace. That is a development plan, not a guaranteed full-release date; the Steam page is the relevant place to check for updated status.
