There is no single removable rechargeable battery pack that fits both Xbox and PlayStation controllers. Xbox Wireless Controllers can use removable AA batteries or compatible fitted packs; PS5 DualSense controllers have an internal battery, so the practical choices are USB charging or a charging dock. Here are five options, with the distinction made clear.
How to choose the right charging option
Start with the controller, not the battery capacity. For an Xbox Wireless Controller, choose between a fitted pack and rechargeable AA cells, and check that the product’s battery door fits your controller generation. A fitted pack stays inside the controller; rechargeable AAs can be removed and used in other compatible devices, but need a separate charger.
For DualSense, the battery is internal. You cannot swap in an Xbox-style pack: charge the controller by USB or use a compatible charging station. These are charging methods, not replacement batteries.
Xbox battery packs and PlayStation charging options

Which Xbox option should you choose?
Choose a fitted pack for a simple swap-free setup
The PowerA Rechargeable Battery Pack is the straightforward single-controller option in this list. PowerA states that its 1100mAh NiMH pack provides 20+ hours per recharge and takes about three hours to charge. Those are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results; actual play time can vary.

Choose the Play & Charge Kit for battery rotation
With two packs, you can use one while the other is ready to go. PowerA’s estimate is up to 20 hours per fully charged pack, and the included 10-foot cable and four battery doors make the kit more complete than the single pack. Check the specific controller compatibility: PowerA says the kit does not work with Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.
Choose the Duo station for a shared charging spot
The Duo station is designed to charge two controllers on a dock and includes two packs. It suits a setup where controllers are returned to one place after use; it requires an AC adapter rather than relying only on a cable connected to the controller.

Choose rechargeable AAs for flexibility across devices
Rechargeable AAs are a different approach from fitted packs. They make sense if you want cells that can move between compatible devices and already have, or are willing to buy, an external charger. Check that your Xbox controller accepts removable AA cells and do not assume every AA charger or cell has the same performance.

USB charging
PlayStation’s support instructions say to connect a compatible controller to a PS5 or PS4 console using the included USB cable while the console is on or in rest mode. The same support page notes that compatible USB devices can also be used, although some devices may not charge the controller. Dock charging
A charging station gives the controller a dedicated place to sit between sessions. It does not replace or remove the internal battery. Because the available listing does not establish current model details, confirm that a station is intended for your DualSense controller before ordering.

Check compatibility and availability before buying
- Identify the exact controller: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, or DualSense.
- For a fitted Xbox pack, check the battery door and controller fit; for rechargeable AAs, confirm the controller accepts removable AA cells.
- Decide whether you need one pack, a two-pack rotation, or a dock that holds two controllers.
- Treat runtimes and charge times above as manufacturer claims, not guaranteed results.
