Storm, Rogue, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Cyclops would each give a hypothetical Marvel’s Wolverine sequel something different: a leader who can reshape a fight, a power with personal stakes, a physical foil, and familiar faces who make the story feel like an X-Men team. These are wishlist picks, not a confirmed roster: no sequel has been established by the official material cited here.
Why a sequel could use more than Wolverine and Team X
PlayStation describes Marvel’s Wolverine as a single-player, narrative action-adventure for PS5, with Logan as the playable character. Its story has him rejoining Team X after leaving it and working with fellow mutants while Bolivar Trask kidnaps mutants. PlayStation’s official game page lays out that premise.

That is not yet an X-Men team story. Insomniac narrative director Walt Williams, who also wrote the official prequel comic, put it plainly: “In Marvel’s Wolverine, there are no X-Men.” He added, “Most people in the world don’t even know mutants exist.” In that context, introducing recognizable X-Men in a later story could mark a meaningful change in the world around Logan—not just add cameos. The prequel comic is available through Marvel Unlimited.
The official sources establish the current game’s premise and the characters’ identities or roles; they do not confirm a sequel, its mechanics, or any of these appearances. The gameplay ideas below are proposals, not reported plans.

1. Storm: a leader who changes the scale
PlayStation describes Storm in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls as leader of the Unbreakable X-Men and a mutant able to command forces of nature, including wind and lightning. That gives a sequel a strong basis for a character who is not simply another fighter beside Logan: her presence could change the setting and the tactical choices in an encounter. She would also give the group a leader whose authority and responsibilities differ from Wolverine’s rough-edged role.
Her inclusion is a recommendation, not a casting plan. The source supports her leadership and powers, not any specific game mechanic. PlayStation’s announcement describes her role and abilities.

2. Rogue: a power that makes contact matter
Marvel describes Rogue’s ability as absorbing life force, memories, or abilities through physical touch. That power naturally carries risk and intimacy: a rescue, an argument, or a moment of trust could become dangerous simply because someone gets too close. A sequel could turn that tension into choices that reach beyond who wins a fight.
Marvel establishes the ability; using it to shape encounters or relationships would be a game-design choice. Marvel’s Rogue character page provides the official character background.

3. Colossus: a physical foil to Wolverine
Piotr Rasputin, known as Colossus, is a mutant who became an X-Man and served as the team’s primary muscle, according to Marvel. Set beside Logan, he could make brute force feel different: not a lone survivor’s answer to danger, but a teammate whose strength changes how the group handles it. That contrast could also let a story show Wolverine cooperating with another close-range powerhouse rather than always owning that space himself.

4. Nightcrawler: a familiar face for a real team
Marvel’s X-Men history material identifies Nightcrawler among the team’s prominent members. His presence would help move a roster beyond “Logan plus allies” toward a group readers recognize as the X-Men. A mobility-centered role might also distinguish his encounters from Wolverine’s, but that is an editorial possibility, not a confirmed mechanic or a claim about the current game.
5. Cyclops: the clearest signal that the story has widened
Marvel identifies Cyclops among the original X-Men characters. Adding him would make the shift from Team X’s mutant defense force toward a recognizable X-Men story unmistakable. He need not displace Logan as the central character: a different team presence and a distinct approach to conflict could create productive friction while leaving Wolverine’s perspective at the center.

His status as an original team character supports the roster argument, not a claim that he has been planned for a sequel. Marvel’s X-Men history and reading list identifies Cyclops and Nightcrawler among the team’s notable members.

The strongest case for this group is variety of story function. Storm supplies leadership, Rogue makes her power personal, Colossus gives Logan a physical counterpart, and Nightcrawler and Cyclops make the ensemble read as the X-Men rather than a handful of unrelated guest appearances. Their distinct abilities could also support different kinds of encounters, provided a future game chose to build mechanics around them.
That is the wishlist’s point: not to treat a sequel or roster as confirmed, but to show how five established mutants could widen a Wolverine-led story in different ways.
