Is the Fortnite FTC refund deadline over?
Yes. The FTC’s current Fortnite Refunds page lists July 9, 2025, as the last day to submit a claim. There is no open filing window on the published program page. Older coverage may refer to earlier deadlines; use the FTC page for current program information.

The settlement covered particular billing experiences, not every Fortnite purchase. The FTC describes these groups:
- Players charged in-game currency for things they did not want between January 2017 and September 2022.
- Players whose accounts were locked after they complained to their credit-card company about wrongful charges.
- Parents whose child charged their card without their knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
Fitting one of these descriptions did not by itself guarantee a payment. In June 2025, the FTC said it was sending 969,173 checks and PayPal payments totaling more than $126 million, bringing total refunds issued to nearly $200 million. Those are figures from that dated update, not a statement of any individual claim’s current status. The $245 million Epic agreed to pay to resolve FTC allegations was the settlement amount, not the amount awarded to each claimant. See the FTC’s June 2025 payment announcement.

How do I check an existing Fortnite refund claim?
- Type the FTC’s official address into your browser or use the link to the FTC Fortnite Refunds page directly.
- Use the program page’s current FAQ or contact route for questions about an existing claim. Do not rely on an unsolicited message link to establish that a claim is real.
- Do not pay an intermediary or give payment details to someone who unexpectedly contacts you claiming they can release a refund.
The FTC’s Consumer Advice warning is direct: “If you get an email or text message that tells you to click a link or pay to get your refund, it’s a scam.” Read its Fortnite refund scam advice.
Which refund route applies to your purchase?
The FTC settlement and an ordinary purchase refund are separate processes. The FTC administered compensation for the settlement’s covered past billing practices; Epic or the store that processed an ordinary purchase handles requests under its own policy.

Can Epic refund a Fortnite purchase made on PC or mobile?
For purchases processed through Epic checkout on PC, Mac, or mobile—including Fortnite real-money purchases powered by the Epic Games Store—the applicable Epic policy depends on whether the product is marked refundable or self-refundable. Under the published policy, eligible refundable or self-refundable PC and Mac products generally must be within 14 days of purchase (or, for pre-purchases, within 14 days after release) and have less than two hours of runtime. Eligible mobile products have a two-hour window.
Do not assume those time limits apply to every Fortnite item. In-game items, subscriptions, virtual currency, and consumable digital items are usually non-refundable under Epic’s policy unless applicable law requires otherwise. Check the product’s designation and the current policy before requesting a refund.

Request an eligible self-refundable Epic Store purchase
- Sign in to your Epic account.
- Open Account settings, then Transactions.
- Find the purchase and select Request refund.
- Choose a reason and submit the request.
Epic says refunds typically return to the original payment method within 10 business days. Check the current support page for full details, including any regional account-balance option. This procedure is not a way to submit a missed FTC settlement claim.
What if I bought Fortnite content on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Apple, or Google Play?
If the console or a third-party mobile store processed the payment, contact that store and follow its refund policy. Epic says it cannot process purchases made through payment systems it does not manage. A purchase’s eligibility and available options depend on the store; an Epic refund request cannot substitute for the store’s process.

What happens to Fortnite items after a refund?
Epic says a completed refund or payment reversal may cause the purchased items to be removed from the account. Epic Player Support cannot restore those items. For a third-party purchase, direct payment or refund questions to the relevant store or payment provider.
