Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo make a PS5 DualSense controller charge last longer, reduce optional features such as vibration, trigger effects, speaker volume and indicator brightness. You can also check the charge and top up while the PS5 is in rest mode. Sony does not publish a measured runtime gain for any of these changes, so treat them as practical adjustments—not guaranteed extra hours.
1. Lower vibration intensity
On your PS5, go to Settings > Accessories > Controller (General) > Vibration Intensity. Choose a lower level or turn vibration off if you do not need it. The setting is available on PS5, but Sony does not quantify how much charge you may save by changing it. PlayStation’s controller settings guide lists the available options.
2. Reduce trigger-effect intensity
In the same Controller (General) settings area, open Trigger Effect Intensity and lower it or disable it when adaptive resistance is not important to you. Trigger effects work in supported games, so you can adjust the setting to suit the games you play.
3. Turn down the controller speaker
Open Volume (Speaker for Controller) under Settings > Accessories > Controller (General). Lower the volume if you do not need game audio or effects from the DualSense’s built-in speaker.

- Haptic feedback - Feel physically responsive feedback to your in-game actions with dual actuators which replace traditional rumble motors. In your hands, these dynamic vibrations can simulate the feeling of everything from environments to the recoil of different weapons. .Operating temperature : 41 °F to 95 °F (5 °C to 35 °C)
- Adaptive triggers - Experience varying levels of force and tension as you interact with your in-game gear and environments. From pulling back an increasingly tight bowstring to hitting the brakes on a speeding car, feel physically connected to your on-screen actions.
- Built-in microphone and headset jack - Chat with friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5mm jack. Easily switch voice capture on and off at a moment’s notice with the dedicated mute button. Internet and account for PlayStation Network required.
- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
4. Reduce controller indicator brightness
Choose Brightness of Controller Indicators in Controller (General) and select a lower level if you do not need the lights to be prominent. You can change the setting back whenever you prefer brighter indicators.
5. Check the charge and top up between sessions
Press the PS button, open Control Center > Accessories and check the controller’s battery icon. While charging, the icon animates and displays a lightning bolt; three bars indicate a full charge. The DualSense can charge over the included USB cable while the PS5 is on or in rest mode. This helps you manage when the controller is ready to use; it does not restore or increase the battery’s capacity. PlayStation’s DualSense connection and charging guide describes the charging indicator.

What to know about DualSense battery life
Settings can reduce optional features, not restore lost capacity
These adjustments are choices, not fixes for an aging battery. Sony’s CFI-ZCT1W DualSense instruction manual says battery duration gradually decreases with repeated use and age, and varies with storage, use and environmental conditions. If a controller’s capacity has substantially deteriorated, replacing it may be an option; a replacement is not necessary for ordinary battery management.
Charge in a suitable environment
The CFI-ZCT1W manual specifies a charging environment of 50 °F to 86 °F (10 °C to 30 °C) and says charging may be less effective outside that range. Avoid exposing the controller to extreme temperatures, including direct sunlight or a hot vehicle. If you will not use it for an extended period, Sony recommends fully charging it at least once a year to help maintain battery functionality.

If the controller will not charge

- Use a cable that supports charging and data (also described as charge and sync). Charge-only cables cannot be used.
- Keep in mind that not all USB chargers can charge the controller.
These charging instructions come from PlayStation’s DualSense support page. The temperature and long-term storage guidance above is from the CFI-ZCT1W manual; check the documentation for your controller’s model if it is a different hardware revision.
