Compatible Joy-Con and accessories offer a physical option, but check your console model before buying.
1. Choose a light or dark HOME Menu theme
Nintendo’s documented built-in themes are Basic White and Basic Black. To switch between them:
- From the HOME Menu, open System Settings.
- Select Themes.
- Choose Basic White or Basic Black.
This changes the menu background. Nintendo’s documented options do not include downloadable themes or controls for rearranging the HOME Menu layout. Nintendo Support: Themes
2. Adjust the display colors
Switch family systems offer color-display options, and Switch OLED adds a separate choice for its built-in screen.

Change display colors
Open System Settings > System > Change Display Colors and choose Default, Invert Colors, or Grayscale.
Choose Switch OLED screen colors
On Switch OLED, go to System Settings > System and set Console-Screen Colors to Vivid or Standard. This setting affects handheld and tabletop play, not TV mode. Nintendo Support: System settings and display colors

3. Remap buttons for comfort or accessibility
Button mapping lets you change the functions of supported controller buttons to better suit how you play. Open System Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Change Button Mapping, choose a supported controller, and follow the on-screen controls to adjust its mapping.
Nintendo lists Joy-Con (L/R) and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller support; Switch Lite buttons can also be remapped. You can save custom configurations in slots 1 through 5. Configurations are stored on the console, not the controller, so they do not travel with it to another Switch. The POWER, Volume, HOME, and SYNC buttons cannot be remapped. 4. Make your user profile your own
Nintendo’s settings include user and Mii options. Use the available user settings to manage your profile, or create and select a Mii where supported. My Page on the HOME Menu shows user information and friend lists. Available identity options can vary by system and account; Nintendo’s documentation does not establish additional custom-icon features. Nintendo Support: My Page Nintendo Support: System settings
