There is no single best non-FromSoftware Soulslike: the right pick depends on whether you want deliberate melee combat, fast technical fights, gunplay, or a lighter world. These six games were available to play by 2025. The first four have the clearest support for the specific distinctions below; Lords of the Fallen and Black Myth: Wukong round out the list as dark-fantasy and Soulslike-adjacent options.
How to choose a non-FromSoftware Soulslike
Use combat style and setting as your first filters. A Soulslike label does not guarantee a particular pace, weapon system, level structure, or multiplayer mode. Platform availability can also vary by edition and region, so check the exact store listing before buying.
- Want weapon experimentation in a distinctive setting? Start with Lies of P.
- Want rapid, technical combat? Choose Nioh 2.
- Prefer aiming and ranged weapons alongside melee? Look at Remnant II.
- Want a colorful change from grimdark fantasy? Try Another Crab’s Treasure.
- Want another dark-fantasy world? Consider Lords of the Fallen (2023).
- Open to an action RPG often grouped with the genre? Consider Black Myth: Wukong, while recognizing that the Soulslike label is disputed.
The six games
1. Lies of P — best for weapon combinations and a distinctive setting
Lies of P reimagines Pinocchio in Krat, a Belle Époque-inspired setting. Its official support page describes a journey toward becoming human, with lies and emotions tied to the story, and combat built around weapon combinations and Legion Arms. That makes it a strong choice if you want a recognizable Soulslike framework with a specific literary premise and tools to experiment with.
NEOWIZ lists PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Mac, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Check the retailer’s listing for your region and intended edition; a digital platform listing does not establish physical availability. See NEOWIZ’s official Lies of P support information.

2. Nioh 2 — best for fast, technique-heavy combat

Those systems put a premium on learning combat timing and developing weapon skills rather than relying on one simple approach.

6. Black Myth: Wukong — a Soulslike-adjacent action RPG
Black Myth: Wukong is often grouped with Soulslikes, but some players dispute the label. It can be a useful adjacent pick if you are interested in the broader action-RPG space rather than looking for a strict match to Soulslike conventions. Check official product information for current platform and edition details, and do not assume that the genre label alone tells you how its combat or progression works.

What to check before you buy
- Match the edition to your device. Confirm the exact platform and edition on the relevant store or official product page; availability can differ by region.
- Check multiplayer explicitly. Do not infer solo or co-op options from a game’s genre, its store presence, or another platform’s listing.
- Confirm physical availability separately. A digital storefront or support page does not establish that a physical edition exists for your platform or region.
- Choose by the experience you want. The distinctions supported here are clearest for combat pace, combat mix, and world tone; the Soulslike label alone cannot settle which game will suit you.
