Rhythm as the main event
Elite Beat Agents
Elite Beat Agents turns the Nintendo DS touchscreen into its control surface. Players tap numbered colored circles in sequence, drag the stylus alongside moving targets and spin a wheel in time. Its comic-book storylines, four difficulty levels and multiplayer modes give the rhythmic actions a broader structure. Nintendo describes it as a full remake of the Japanese original, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!

Nintendo lists a July 13, 2007 release and the format as a Nintendo DS Game Card. That physical edition calls for compatible DS hardware; condition, region and compatibility can differ among used copies.

Space Channel 5
Space Channel 5 is classified as a music game with rhythm mechanics, manual input and gamepad controls. The DiGRA-hosted dataset lists Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 platforms. That makes it a useful contrast to games built around a dedicated instrument or touchscreen: rhythm is expressed through gamepad input. The classification does not establish a current edition or storefront listing.
Rhythm as a way to command
Patapon
Sony describes Patapon as a blend of strategy, simulation and music-game elements. Rather than treating beats only as something to hit for a score, it uses drum rhythms as commands for a tribe. Sony says the original appeared on PSP in 2007 and that a remastered edition for PS4 followed on August 1, 2017. The PS4 edition is a documented later platform option; current availability was not verified.

Orgarhythm
Orgarhythm also puts rhythm in service of strategy. Marvelous USA describes rhythmic prompts and taps as the interface for issuing commands and gathering forces in a real-time strategy game. It is a distinct example of timing functioning as a control system for a genre beyond the conventional music-game format. The source establishes the game’s concept, but not a current platform edition or store listing.

Rhythm inside other genres
Rez
The DiGRA-hosted dataset classifies Rez as a rail shooter with rhythm mechanics, manual input and gamepad controls, and lists Dreamcast and PS2 platforms. Its inclusion broadens the idea of a rhythm game: timing can be part of an action game’s structure rather than the sole focus. The dataset is a classification source, not an assessment of quality or current availability.

Guitar Hero 5
Guitar Hero 5 represents the less obscure route into this list: a particular installment from a well-known series, rather than a lesser-known standalone concept.
