Halloween falls on Saturday, October 31, 2026, but a promotion could start earlier or give way to early holiday sales. These are prebuilt desktop buying criteria, not laptop recommendations. Best Buy’s gaming desktop category and gaming PC deal results are the places to check for current listings; a deal-page label alone does not establish that a price is exceptional.
Why there isn’t a verified seven-deal list yet
Best Buy’s catalog includes systems with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060, 5060 Ti, 5070, 5070 Ti, 5080, and 5090 graphics, as well as AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT and RX 9070-series cards. That establishes the range of products to compare, not which exact models will be in stock or discounted during October. The listings available as of August 18, 2026 did not verify a Halloween-specific promotion. Check the desktop catalog and its sale-filtered listings when you are ready to shop.
Earlier crawled Best Buy pages showed a mix of configurations and reductions, but those figures are historical signals, not current or Halloween prices. For example, listings included an iBUYPOWER system with an RTX 5070, 32GB RAM, and 2TB SSD at $1,249.99 versus $1,449.99, and an ASUS ROG G700 with RTX 5080, 32GB RAM, and 2TB storage at $3,179.99. Those earlier figures do not establish today’s price, present stock, seller, or discount quality. See the previously crawled sale listings only as configuration examples, not buying offers.

Use these categories to select genuinely different systems rather than seven near-identical desktops. No specific October SKU, price, seller, return term, or condition can be verified here, so these are selection targets—not live recommendations.

How to judge the graphics card for your games
Choose the GPU first, then check that the processor, memory, and cooling support it. These tiers are broad starting points, not performance guarantees: game, resolution, settings, ray tracing, upscaling, CPU, and thermal design all affect results.

- 1080p: An RTX 5060 or RX 9060-class system is an entry-level or mainstream target, particularly for buyers focused on price.
- 1440p: Consider an RTX 5070 or RX 9070 for a mainstream system. An RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or RX 9060 XT 16GB may suit buyers who value additional VRAM for textures or selected workloads.
- High-refresh 1440p or entry-level 4K: Look toward RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT systems, while checking benchmarks for the games and settings you use.
- Premium 4K, ray tracing, or demanding creator work: An RTX 5080 or higher may be appropriate, but it is difficult to justify for a buyer who only plays at 1080p.
Treat VRAM as a longevity and workload factor, not a substitute for GPU performance. A card with 16GB is not automatically faster than a card with 12GB. AMD Radeon systems can offer attractive rasterized performance per dollar, while NVIDIA features may be important for particular games or creator applications; compare the workloads that matter to you.
What else to inspect on the listing
Memory and storage
Sixteen gigabytes of RAM can work in a budget PC, but 32GB is a better target for a midrange or premium 2026 gaming desktop, particularly if you keep browsers, chat, streaming, or other applications open. Check whether the RAM is installed as one or two modules, whether the slots are occupied, and whether the manufacturer documents upgrades. For storage, treat a 1TB SSD as a practical minimum and 2TB as a useful premium-system target. Check for an accessible, standard M.2 slot and whether a second slot is available; do not assume an upgrade path if the listing does not establish one.

Processor, power supply, and cooling
A flagship CPU does not compensate for a weak GPU when gaming is the priority. Prefer a sensibly matched modern Ryzen 5/Ryzen 7 or Core i5/Core i7 over paying extra for a processor that does not improve your target gaming experience. Before calling a system upgradeable or well-cooled, look for the PSU wattage, rating, manufacturer and model, GPU power connector, cooler type, fan layout, and case ventilation. Best Buy listings can omit these details. An undisclosed PSU or proprietary motherboard is a meaningful uncertainty, not evidence of a quality component.
Operating system and included items
Confirm that the exact configuration includes Windows 11 if you expect a ready-to-use Windows PC, and verify Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, keyboard, and mouse rather than assuming they come in the box. Product configurations can differ even within a model family.

Verify the price, seller, and terms before checkout
- Match the exact SKU. Compare the full model and component list, not just the brand or product-family name.
- Assess the price independently. Best Buy’s “was” or “comparable value” price is not proof of the lowest recent market price. Compare the exact configuration with its manufacturer listing, available price history, and current equivalent systems. A reduction of roughly 10% against a credible recent price can be a useful value signal, but calculate it from verified prices rather than an advertised comparison.
- Check who sells and ships it. Read the listing’s seller and fulfillment line. Best Buy’s catalog spans brands including CyberPowerPC, iBUYPOWER, HP, ASUS, Lenovo, Alienware, Skytech, MSI, and others; seller identity can affect support and terms. Marketplace listings may have less predictable support and different return or warranty handling.
- Read the condition and return details. For an open-box PC, verify the condition grade, accessories, seller, return period, and warranty coverage on that exact listing. Missing antennas or accessories, replaced components, cosmetic damage, or uncertain manufacturer coverage can erase the savings. Open-box may also be a poor fit for a gift buyer who expects a pristine system.
- Check stock and delivery for your location. Pickup, shipping, and inventory can vary by ZIP code and store. Confirm availability and any stated sale end time on the live listing; if none is stated, do not assume the price will last.
Best Buy has previously shown an “up to $400” savings message on selected gaming desktops, but that promotion is not evidence of a current Halloween offer. Check the Only at Best Buy PC-gaming deals page for current terms rather than relying on an earlier promotion.

Should you buy during Halloween or wait?
- Buy now if the exact configuration has a strong price against credible recent comparisons, suits your resolution and games, and has acceptable seller, stock, return, and warranty terms. Do not let a countdown or large “was” price substitute for those checks.
- Wait if the discount is weak, important components such as the PSU are undisclosed, the system is poorly matched to your needs, or you do not need a PC soon. November may bring Black Friday offers, but a better price is not guaranteed and the specific configuration may sell out.
- Consider another route if you need portability, prefer to choose every component yourself, or find prebuilt prices unattractive. A prebuilt is most useful when you value a ready-to-use system and one-vendor support over component-level control.
