There is no official Epic Games ranking of the best Fortnite emotes, so this list is an editorial selection—not a definitive popularity chart. It balances recognizable classics with playful dances and one famously confrontational taunt. Third-party site Fortnite.GG lists Orange Justice, Take the L, and Floss among highly ranked emotes and includes Get Griddy among leading entries on its most-used page; those are community signals, not official or population-wide Epic statistics. The remaining picks broaden the list rather than claim a proven current rank.
How to choose a Fortnite emote
“Best” depends on what you want an emote to do: celebrate, make other players laugh, or deliver a pointed taunt. Recognizability is another useful measure, but there is no verified, comprehensive Epic ranking to settle which emotes are most popular. Fortnite.GG offers third-party ranking and use signals, while the individual choices below are recommendations rather than positions in an official chart.
Emotes also do not all work the same way. Epic says Dance Emotes can sync with nearby Jam Tracks and let other players join in, but that describes the Dance Emote category—not every emote. Some emotes are built in to a particular cosmetic item and only work while that item is equipped.
7 best Fortnite emotes
1. Get Griddy
Get Griddy earns a place for its high visibility on Fortnite.GG’s most-used emotes page. That makes it a strong recognizable pick, though the site’s metric is not an official Epic statistic and does not establish population-wide preference. Check the current in-game Item Shop if you want to see whether it is available; shop stock changes.

2. Orange Justice
Orange Justice is a familiar Fortnite classic and appears prominently in Fortnite.GG’s community ranking as well as editorial coverage of popular emotes. It is a natural choice if you want an instantly recognizable dance rather than a taunt. Its inclusion here is based on that recognition, not an official Epic placement.
3. Floss
Floss is another classic with strong recognition. It appears among the higher-ranked entries on Fortnite.GG’s list, making it one of the selections with a third-party ranking signal behind it. That ranking should not be mistaken for an Epic Games chart.

4. Take the L
Take the L is an unmistakable taunt, which is precisely why it can be a memorable pick—and why it may not suit every moment. Epic includes it among the emotes covered by the See Confrontational Emotes setting. Players can choose whether they see designated emotes from friends in their party, any player, or nobody. Epic says the setting “does not change a player’s ability to use any Emotes.”
5. Billy Bounce
Billy Bounce makes the list as a playful, movement-focused option for players who want a lighter celebratory feel. The available evidence does not establish its current comparative popularity or ranking, so treat it as a taste-based pick rather than a measured chart favorite.
Rank #3

6. Best Mates
Best Mates brings another recognizable classic to the selection. It broadens the list beyond the emotes supported by the cited third-party ranking signals; its present-day comparative rank is not established here.
7. Dance Moves (“Default Dance”)
Dance Moves is a natural pick for anyone after a familiar Fortnite-associated dance. Many players call it the “Default Dance,” but that nickname should not be confused with the in-game emote name. If exact naming matters when browsing the Locker or Item Shop, look for Dance Moves.

- Standalone or built-in: Epic Support says built-in emotes can only be used when specific items are equipped. They appear in the Locker section of the in-game emote wheel, not in the lobby Locker.
- Dance Emote syncing: Epic’s Rockstar Emote shop listing describes Dance Emotes as syncing to the tempo of nearby Jam Tracks and allowing other players to join. This behavior is specific to the category described there, not a promise about all emotes.
- Shop stock: Do not assume a named emote is currently purchasable. Check the in-game Item Shop for current availability; past seasonal or bundle appearances do not establish that an item is on sale now.
Sources and scope
Epic Games has not supplied an official best-emotes ranking in the sources cited here. Fortnite.GG’s ranking and most-used pages are third-party community signals, and their methodology does not establish a representative measure of all players’ preferences.
