Command names and arguments can change between patches. The 7D2D Wiki labels its current reference as a V3.3 list, verified against V3.2.0 (b9) and re-checked on V3.3.0 (b18); older V3.2 guides may therefore disagree. Treat the console’s own help output as authoritative for your build.

How to open and use the 7 Days to Die console
Start or join a PC game, then press F1. If nothing happens, try the key your keyboard layout assigns to the console: search snippets document F2, the quote key, @, Ö, Ø and Ñ as alternatives. The exact key is layout-dependent, so do not change game files merely because F1 fails.
- Open the console.
- Run
helpto print commands available in this version. - Run
help commandname(for example, help listplayers) to display that command’s arguments and permission requirement. - Enter the command without angle brackets or explanatory text, then press Enter.
Commands that target another player generally require an entity ID or platform ID. Run listplayers (alias lp) and listplayerids (alias lpi) first, and copy the identifier exactly as the console prints it.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a dated reference, the 7D2D Wiki V3.3 command page says it was checked against V3.2.0 (b9) and re-checked on V3.3.0 (b18). A static web list cannot guarantee compatibility with every experimental branch or later patch.
7 Days to Die console commands: practical reference
The table below covers the commands documented in the available V3.2/V3.3 summaries. Where a source does not establish a safe, exact argument format, the cell tells you to consult in-game help rather than presenting a guess.
| Command | Alias | What it does | Usage and cautions |
|---|---|---|---|
help |
— | Lists console commands. | help <command> requests that command’s syntax. Use this before relying on an online example. |
listplayers |
lp |
Lists online players, including position and health. | Run it before a player-targeting command when you need to identify who is connected. |
listplayerids |
lpi |
Shows entity and platform IDs. | Copy the ID required by the command; do not assume the two ID types are interchangeable. |
kick |
— | Removes a selected player from the server. | Use help kick for the target argument and any reason syntax in your build. |
kickall |
— | Kicks all connected players. | Useful immediately before a planned restart or save operation; warn players first. |
ban add |
— | Adds a player to the ban list. | Durations can use units from minutes through years. Confirm the exact player-ID and duration format with help ban. |
admin add |
— | Assigns a player’s permission level. | Level 0 grants full access. Use the ID shown by lpi and verify the result with the server’s permission tools. |
cp add |
— | Sets the permission level required for a command. | This changes who may run that command; it does not promote a player by itself. |
say |
— | Sends a message to every player. | Use it for restart notices, rule reminders and other server-wide announcements. |
sayplayer |
pm |
Sends a private message to one player. | Supply the target recognized by your build; check help sayplayer if names containing spaces are rejected. |
saveworld |
sa |
Saves the world. | Run it before maintenance or a shutdown to reduce lost progress. |
pplist |
— | Lists persistent player data. | Use it when investigating stored player records; exact output fields depend on the build. |
shutdown |
— | Stops the server. | Announce the stop, save first, and allow players to disconnect cleanly. |
giveself |
— | Places an item in your inventory. | Documented parameters include an internal item name, quality level, count, an inventory-placement flag and a spawn-with-mods flag. Quality is stated as 1–6. Confirm the argument order with help giveself. |
spawnentity |
se |
Spawns a zombie, animal or NPC. | Debug mode can list available entity IDs. Published summaries disagree about whether the arguments are an entity name plus coordinates or a player ID plus entity ID, so run help se first. |
giveselfxp |
— | Grants experience to yourself. | Check the current argument name and amount format with help giveselfxp. |
buff |
— | Applies a buff to yourself. | Buff names are drawn from the game’s buffs data; use the exact identifier accepted by your version. |
buffplayer |
— | Applies a buff to another player. | Requires a player target and buff identifier. Confirm both with in-game help. |
settime |
st |
Changes in-game time. | Reported ranges conflict between references. Never assume that a value valid in one build is valid in another; run help settime. A snippet specifically warns that settime 0 can crash the game. |
gettime |
gt |
Prints the current in-game day and time. | Use it to record the current value before experimenting with time changes. |
listitems |
— | Searches item identifiers from the console. | listitems <filter> is useful for finding internal names required by item-giving commands. |
For another published command reference, see the V3.2 list at Hosthavoc. Treat it as a cross-check, not a substitute for the help text shipped with your game.
Player lookup, kicking and bans
Find the correct target
Names are convenient for humans but are not always the identifier a command expects. Start with lp to see who is online, then run lpi to obtain the entity and platform IDs. Keep the console output visible while you copy the value; selecting an adjacent number can target the wrong person.

Remove a player temporarily
Use kick for a single player. Use kickall when taking the server offline for maintenance, but send a warning with say first. Kicking is not a ban: the player can reconnect unless a separate ban or whitelist rule prevents it.
Apply a timed ban
ban add supports duration units ranging from minutes to years according to the command summaries. Because the available references do not agree on every argument token, open help ban and follow the syntax printed by your server. Record the target ID, duration and reason in your administration notes so an accidental long ban can be corrected.

Grant administrator access
admin add assigns a permission level to a player. Level 0 is documented as full access. A safe workflow is:
- Run
lpiand copy the intended player’s identifier. - Run
help adminto confirm the argument order in your build. - Use
admin addwith that ID and the desired level. - Have the player run a harmless command, or inspect the server response, to verify the permission changed.
Give level 0 only to people who should be able to alter the world, manage players and stop the server. A lower level is preferable for moderators when your command-permission setup supports it.

Control which level a command requires
cp add changes the level required to run a particular command. It is a command-policy tool, not a player-promotion command: changing a command’s level affects everyone attempting to use it. Test policy changes with a noncritical command before applying them to kicking, bans, item spawning or shutdown.
Understand the whitelist failure mode
The whitelist has an unintuitive all-or-nothing behavior: once even one whitelist entry exists, players not on that list cannot join. Add the first entry only when you are ready to maintain the complete allowed-player list, and verify access with a second account before ending your administration session.

Messaging, saving and shutting down safely
Use say for a server-wide announcement and sayplayer (alias pm) for a private notice. A reliable maintenance sequence is:
- Broadcast the planned downtime with
say. - Wait for players to reach a safe location.
- Run
saveworld(aliassa). - Run
kickallif connected players remain. - Run
shutdownonly after the save has completed.
pplist is separate from a world save: it lists persistent player data and is useful for checking records, but it is not a replacement for saveworld.

Giving items, experience and entities
Find internal item names first
The item command uses internal identifiers rather than the display name shown in a player’s inventory. Run listitems <filter>, select the exact identifier, then consult help giveself. A documented parameter pattern is giveself itemName [qualityLevel=6] [count=1] [putInInventory=false] [spawnWithMods=true]; because this pattern is not confirmed by a fetched full page, treat the bracketed defaults as version-sensitive.
Examples of internal names shown in command summaries include gunAK47 and meleeToolPickaxeIron. The quality setting is described as running from 1 through 6. Use a small count while testing, and verify the item entered the intended inventory before issuing a larger command.
Grant experience
giveselfxp grants experience to the issuing player. The available summaries do not establish a single argument spelling or maximum, so use help giveselfxp and enter the amount exactly as your build requests.
Spawn a zombie, animal or NPC
spawnentity, commonly abbreviated se, creates an entity. Debug mode can expose available entity IDs. Published syntax summaries conflict: one describes an entity name with coordinates, while another describes a player ID with an entity ID. Do not combine those formats. Run help se, copy the format shown there, and test in an expendable area because a malformed or excessive spawn can obstruct a base or affect performance.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Buffs and time controls
Apply buffs
buff applies a buff to yourself; buffplayer applies one to another player. Buff identifiers come from the game’s buffs data, so the visible effect name may not be the exact token accepted by the console. Check the identifier with your build’s help or data files before applying it to a live world.
Read and change the clock
Run gettime (or gt) before changing time so you have a reference point. settime (or st) is version-sensitive: one published summary describes a 0–24,000-style range, while another describes 0–23. The references also warn against settime 0 because it may crash the game. Use help settime, make a backup or save first, and test on a copy of the world when possible.
How to troubleshoot a command that fails
- The console does not open: try the layout-specific alternatives listed above, and check that the game window has focus.
- “Unknown command” appears: run
help. The command may have been renamed, removed or disabled in your branch. - The command is denied: check your admin level with the server’s permission configuration and whether
cp addraised the command’s required level. - A player target is rejected: refresh
lpandlpi; players who reconnect can receive different entity IDs. - An item is not found: search with
listitemsand use the internal ID, not the localized display name. - An entity will not spawn: inspect
help sefor the current argument order and valid IDs; do not mix coordinate syntax with player-ID syntax from another version. - Time changes cause instability: stop experimenting with disputed values, restore the last save, and avoid the specifically warned-about
settime 0. - No one can join: inspect the whitelist. A single whitelist entry blocks everyone not explicitly listed.
Keeping a command list accurate across updates
Do not label an online table “complete” without a version. The V3.3 Wiki page is the most recent dated reference in the supplied material, but it still advises checking the running game. After an update, compare the output of help, help admin, help giveself, help se and help settime with your server notes. Remove examples that no longer appear, preserve aliases only when the console still accepts them, and test destructive commands on a copy before using them on a community world.
