The latest stable notice listed was V3.2.0 Stable b10 Hotfix, dated August 26, 2026. The studio’s March 2026 statements put sandbox options in 3.0 and bandits in 4.0, but did not give those updates release dates. The original roadmap’s story-mode target of Q4 2025 has passed, and the reviewed official sources do not establish a replacement date.
What is the current 7 Days to Die roadmap?
The roadmap has moved on from the post-1.0 schedule published in 2024. Its original target quarters are historical, not a current release calendar. In March 2026, Fun Pimps staff described the roadmap as evolving and said 3.0 and 4.0 were in development, with 5.0 and 6.0 planned. Those statements describe development plans, not ship dates.

The studio’s official announcements index provides the most concrete recent build status. As it appeared on October 4, 2026, it listed V3.3.0 EXP b18 dated September 24, 2026, and V3.2.0 Stable b10 Hotfix dated August 26, 2026. Experimental and stable labels matter: an experimental notice is not evidence that its features are in the stable release.
| Version or plan | Status and date | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| V3.3.0 EXP b18 | Experimental PC notice, September 24, 2026 | Inventory grid changes and a larger backpack system. Backpacks come in small, medium and large sizes, each with six quality levels; equipping one adds encumbrance slots. Experimental-build information, not confirmation of stable availability. |
| V3.2.0 Stable b10 Hotfix | Stable notice, August 26, 2026 | The latest stable notice listed on the official index reviewed October 4, 2026. |
| 3.0 | In development, according to Fun Pimps staff on March 24, 2026 | A community moderator described sandbox options as its key feature on March 29, 2026. No release date was stated. |
| 4.0 | In development, according to Fun Pimps staff on March 24, 2026 | A community moderator described bandits as its primary addition on March 29, 2026. No release date was stated. |
| 5.0 and 6.0 | Planned, according to Fun Pimps staff on March 24, 2026 | No feature details or release dates were stated in that announcement. |

When are bandits coming to 7 Days to Die?
No confirmed release date was stated in the reviewed official material. On March 29, 2026, a community moderator described 4.0 as the update whose primary addition would be bandits. Fun Pimps staff had said five days earlier that 4.0 was in development, but neither statement committed to a launch window. The old roadmap placed bandits under “A New Threat” for Q2 2025; that target has passed and should not be treated as a current promise.
Is story mode coming to 7 Days to Die?
The original post-1.0 roadmap listed story mode under “The Road Ahead,” targeted for Q4 2025. That quarter has passed. The reviewed official announcements do not establish a new version or date for story mode, so there is no confirmed current launch window to report. Its presence on the old roadmap does not show that it has shipped.

What happened to the original roadmap?
The 2024 post-1.0 developer diary grouped features into three target windows. These are useful as a record of the original plan, but subsequent development statements and build notices have superseded them as a guide to current timing.
| Original roadmap phase | Original target | Features listed at the time |
|---|---|---|
| Storm’s Brewing | Q4 2024 | Weather system and biome progression overhaul; wardrobe system; console crossplay and random generation; additional zombie stages; spawn-near-friend; Twitch drops; outfit DLCs; and more. |
| A New Threat | Q2 2025 | Bandits; UI and main-menu overhaul; event system; and a new quest type. |
| The Road Ahead | Q4 2025 | Trader overhaul; story mode; Steam Workshop support; and a new quest type. |
The sequence and numbering later changed: the March 2026 moderator post described 3.0 as formerly 2.7 and 4.0 as formerly 3.0. This is another reason not to map the older roadmap labels directly onto current releases.

What did The Fun Pimps say about changing plans?
On March 24, 2026, faatal, a Fun Pimps staff member, wrote: “The roadmap is an evolving process internally with multiple influences. That is why we say it is subject to change, because it does change.” In the same post, faatal said: “3.0 and 4.0 are both currently in development, with 5.0 and 6.0 planned out.” The statements explain why older target windows should not be read as guarantees; they do not provide a new calendar.
In a separate March 2026 announcement, The Fun Pimps said it had joined Behaviour Interactive and would continue to lead development, with additional support for the game. The studio did not attach a feature schedule or update-speed guarantee to that announcement. It also said the game had sold more than 20 million copies; that is the company’s stated figure, not an independently audited count.

How to check whether an update is available
- Open the official announcements index and check the date and version label of the newest notice.
- Read the build designation. “EXP” means the notice is for an experimental build; a “Stable” notice identifies a stable release or hotfix.
- For a specific feature, check the announcement itself rather than relying on an older roadmap entry. A planned feature, a moderator’s description, and a released stable feature are different kinds of evidence.
