Rainbow Six Siege lag on PS5 can come from an outage, Wi-Fi instability, or another connection problem; “lag” alone does not identify the cause. Check Ubisoft and PlayStation Network status first, then test your home connection with the least disruptive steps before changing advanced settings.
1. Check Rainbow Six Siege server status
Open Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege service status page and check the PS5 listing. The page’s result can change, so refresh it while troubleshooting rather than relying on an earlier status. If Siege services are affected, wait for Ubisoft to resolve the issue before changing your home network.
2. Check PlayStation Network status
PlayStation recommends checking its network service status page when troubleshooting connection problems. If PSN reports an outage or maintenance, wait until service recovers and try Siege again.
3. Test the PS5 over wired LAN
If you can temporarily connect the console to your router with Ethernet, use wired LAN to see whether Wi-Fi is contributing to the problem. On PS5, go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection > Set Up Wired LAN > Connect. PlayStation documents this setup, but does not promise that Ethernet will lower latency or fix server-side or ISP problems.

- 40 Gbps 2000 Mhz High Speed: The Cat 8 ethernet cable support max. 40 Gbps data transfer and 2000 MHz Brandwith, ideal for gaming and streaming, greatly improving upload and download speed, sound, image and resolution quality
- Excellent Anti-interference: The ethernet cable comes with 4 shielded foiled twisted pairs (F/FTP), pure copper core and gold-plated RJ45 connector, reducing interference, noise and crosstalk, making network speed faster and more stable
- Marvelous Durability: Internet cable wrapped with quality cotton braided cord, which makes the LAN cable stronger and more durable. The test proves that this internet cable can be bent at least 10000 times without broken, very suitable for long-term use
- PoE Supported: All lengths of ethernet cord can support the PoE power supply function except 65ft. You don't need additional power supply when installing a PoE camera, which is very convenient and safe
- Wide Compatibility: With the RJ45 Connector, network cable can be perfectly compatible with computers, laptops, modems, routers, PS5, X-Box and other networking devices. It can also be fully backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6e, Cat6, Cat5e, Cat5
If you do not have a suitable cable, borrowing one for a temporary test can help you compare wired and Wi-Fi behavior; there is no specific cable category that PlayStation says is required to fix Siege lag.
4. Improve Wi-Fi placement and verify the network
If Ethernet is impractical, place the PS5 closer to the router and remove objects that may interrupt the wireless connection. PlayStation recommends these checks for its PS5 connection error guidance. Also confirm that the console is using the intended Wi-Fi network name and that its password and security details are correct.

5. Restart the PS5, router, and modem
Restarting can clear a temporary connection fault. PlayStation’s troubleshooting instructions for a cited PS5 connection error say to restart the console, turn off the router and modem, wait at least five minutes, then restart the router and modem. Follow your equipment’s normal startup process, then reconnect the PS5 and test Siege. This is a troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.
6. Reconfigure network settings cautiously
PlayStation recommends configuring network settings again for the connection error covered by its guidance. PS5 network setup includes options such as IP address, DNS, MTU, and proxy settings, but the support instructions do not establish a particular DNS provider, MTU number, or other custom value as a fix for Siege lag.

If you do not know what a setting should be, do not copy an unverified value or make broad router changes. PlayStation advises asking your internet service provider or network administrator about unfamiliar network settings. Its connection setup guidance is available at PlayStation’s internet connection support page.

- Cat 8 Speed, Cat 5/5e Value Enjoy Cat 8 Ethernet cable performance at a Cat 5/5e-level value. With up to 40Gbps speed and 2000MHz bandwidth, this high speed internet cable delivers more bandwidth than standard Cat 5 and Cat 5e cables, helping support smooth gaming, streaming, video calls, large file transfers and everyday wired network use.
- 40Gbps Speed, Wide Compatibility This Cat 8 Ethernet cable supports up to 40Gbps data transfer and 2000MHz bandwidth for fast, reliable internet performance. Standard RJ45 connectors are backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat5e devices, including routers, modems, switches, gaming PCs, PS5, PS4, Xbox, smart TVs, laptops and printers.
- Stable U/FTP Shielding Each of the 4 twisted pairs is individually wrapped with aluminum foil to help reduce crosstalk, noise, and signal interference. Combined with RJ45 connectors on both ends, the U/FTP design helps maintain cleaner signal transmission for a stable and reliable wired network connection.
- Nylon Braided Durability The nylon braided jacket adds everyday durability while keeping the cable flexible and easy to route. Reinforced construction helps the cord handle bending, pulling and frequent plugging, making it a reliable choice for desks, gaming rooms, home offices and long-term network setups.
- 50ft Reach for More Setups The 50 ft length makes it easier to connect devices across rooms, along walls, under desks or around corners. Great for router-to-PC connections, modem-to-TV setups, gaming consoles, workstations, printers and other home network equipment that needs a longer Ethernet cable.
- Siege-specific connection issue: Ubisoft’s connectivity guide for Rainbow Six Siege directs players with persistent problems to contact Ubisoft support. The guide is PC-labeled, so its relevance is general game connectivity rather than a PS5-specific procedure.
- PS5 or PlayStation connection problem: Use PlayStation’s connectivity support and its troubleshooting or repair options.
- Router, ports, or provider connection: Ask your ISP or network administrator for help with router configuration. PlayStation notes that a busy network line may require waiting and trying again.
Wired LAN or Wi-Fi: which should you test?
| Connection | When it is useful | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Wired LAN | Use it when the router is reachable by cable, or as a temporary comparison test. | Follow the PS5 wired setup path above. A difference between wired and Wi-Fi behavior can point toward the wireless link, but it does not prove the game server or ISP is fault-free. |
| Wi-Fi | Use it when running Ethernet is impractical. | Try moving the PS5 closer to the router, clearing obstructions, and confirming the selected network and credentials. |
If other devices on the same home network also have connection trouble, that is useful information to share with your ISP. If only Siege is affected, check Ubisoft’s service status and contact Ubisoft if the problem persists.
