Astro Bot is a single-player PS5 platformer built around exploring planets, using level-specific abilities and rescuing a scattered crew. Before you start, keep eight habits in mind: learn each power-up, search off the main route, track what you have found, and make use of the growing crew back at the hub. The game launched on September 6, 2024, and PlayStation describes a journey across more than 50 planets to rescue 300 bots.
1. Learn what each level’s power-up can do
Astro’s abilities change how you move through a stage and interact with obstacles. Take a moment to try the ability when it appears instead of treating it as a one-use attack; its movement may be as important as its combat use. PlayStation describes the game as featuring more than 15 new abilities, each with a distinct play style.

- Barkster the Bulldog Booster gives Astro an air dash that can smash walls, hit enemies and carry him across gaps.
- Twin-Frog Gloves deliver long-range punches and can be used to swing.
- Monkey Climber helps Astro scale sheer surfaces and take on large foes. Team Asobi refers to the monkey helper as Handy-D and describes climbing, swinging and slamming with its hands.
- Muteki armor can roll through spiky areas, fit into tight spaces or launch Astro like a cannonball.
- Giant Sponge absorbs water from the environment, grows larger and can cause destruction.
These examples illustrate why it helps to experiment: an ability may solve a traversal problem as well as help in a fight. [PlayStation’s game overview; Team Asobi’s launch announcement; Team Asobi on Handy-D]
2. Use the ability to inspect your surroundings
When you gain a new tool, look at the space around Astro from more than one angle. An air dash, punch, climb or swing can interact with the environment in different ways. Try the ability on nearby obstacles and surfaces when it seems safe, but do not assume every level hides an alternate route behind every power-up. The useful habit is to notice what the ability can reach or affect before you move on.

3. Look beyond the straight route
The central goal is to find Astro’s scattered crew across more than 50 planets. PlayStation lists 300 bots to rescue, including 150 PlayStation cameos, so the visible path through a stage is not the only thing worth your attention. Check side areas and look around after reaching a new section rather than heading directly toward the next obvious destination. The official sources establish the overall scale, not exact locations for every hidden bot.
4. Keep an eye on bots, puzzle pieces and coins
These collectibles do different jobs, so notice what remains as you explore instead of treating every pickup as interchangeable. Bots add to the crew you can use on the hub planet. Coins can be spent in the Gatcha Lab to unlock special items for VIP bots; those items prompt the characters to perform actions inspired by their original games. Puzzle pieces are another collectible to watch for as you explore, but the sources do not establish a universal reward order for them.

5. Return to the hub and try the crew’s group actions
Rescued bots are useful beyond filling out a collection. Team Asobi says bots can join together for group actions that open up more of the hub planet to explore. One example is a running wall of bots that helps Astro reach higher places. As your crew grows, revisit the hub and try the group actions available there; they can reveal places you could not reach earlier.
6. Treat bosses and challenge stages as pattern-learning sections
Boss encounters and reflex-focused retry levels ask you to respond to what is happening on screen. Watch for an attack pattern before committing to a move, and use a retry to learn what changes rather than rushing through the same approach. This is general platforming advice, not a guarantee that one tactic works for every boss or challenge.

The PlayStation Store listing says control and tutorial information can be reviewed at any time and that the game includes a practice environment. If a new mechanic or control prompt is unclear, pause to revisit the information or practise before moving on. [PlayStation Store: ASTRO BOT]

The PlayStation Store listing says you can play without vibration or adaptive trigger effects, and also lists adjustable stick inversion and play without touch controls. Keep the effects on if they suit you, or disable them if they are uncomfortable or distracting. A DualSense controller is an optional way to use the supported effects, not an additional game requirement.
