Sly 2: Band of Thieves tops this eight-game list, with Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut close behind. The order follows Metacritic’s feature published September 26, 2025, using its critic-score-informed ranking—not a new review aggregation or a claim that one game is best for every player. The list selects eight entries from that feature’s reviewed pool, which includes separately scored editions and a standalone expansion as well as distinct games. Scores reflect critics’ reception at that time; genre, pace, and personal taste may matter more when choosing what to play.
Sucker Punch’s catalog spans Sly Cooper, inFAMOUS, and Ghost, alongside Rocket: Robot on Wheels; the studio says it began in 1997. Sucker Punch’s official site currently labels Ghost of Yōtei “AVAILABLE NOW.”
How this ranking works
Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature, “Every Sucker Punch Productions Game, Ranked,” provides the order and scores below. Its list includes eleven scored releases; this article takes its top eight, so the entries beyond these eight are not being called bad or unworthy. Metacritic says it generally uses a game’s first platform release, and for simultaneous versions uses the version with more critic reviews. Because the feature ranks releases and editions, rather than only wholly separate games, read the scores as a guide to critic reception—not as a direct measure of value, accessibility, or the best starting point for you. Metacritic’s ranking and methodology.

1. Sly 2: Band of Thieves
Metascore: 88 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. This entry leads the list on the strength of its variety, personality, and charm. Its heist-focused structure gives the stealth-platforming a broader rhythm than a sequence of similar obstacle courses, making it a strong pick if you want a playful adventure with a cast at its center.
The main caveat is the camera, which can feel sticky by modern standards. If camera control is a deal-breaker, that dated friction may stand out more than the game’s appeal.
2. Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut
Metascore: 87 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. This is an enhanced edition of Ghost of Tsushima, not a wholly separate game. The Director’s Cut adds the Iki Island story expansion; the PS5 edition also improves visual fidelity and frame rate. It is the most complete choice for someone who wants Jin Sakai’s open-world samurai story and its additional island chapter.
Keep the edition distinction in mind when comparing it with the original game’s score below: the two ranked entries are different releases of the same core adventure, not two unrelated stories.

3. Ghost of Yōtei
Metascore: 86 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. A standalone PS5 entry, Ghost of Yōtei introduces Atsu, whose pursuit of revenge gives the game a new protagonist and story rather than continuing Jin Sakai’s personal arc. Metacritic reproduces The Verge’s Andrew Webster describing it this way: “Yōtei smooths out many of the issues of its predecessor, while rearranging itself to sharply focus on its epic tale of revenge.”
Choose this if you want the newer Ghost adventure and a story built around Atsu. The score places it just below Director’s Cut in this particular ranking, but does not establish which is the better personal starting point.
4. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus
Metascore: 86 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. The original Sly Cooper is a cel-shaded stealth platformer whose polished presentation and platforming are its clearest strengths. It is a natural option for players who prefer compact, character-led levels and sneaking over sprawling open worlds.

- 🚀 CPU: 3.5GHz, 8-core AMD Zen 2
- 🚀 Storage: Custom 825GB SSD
- 🚀 RAM: 16GB GDDR6
- 🚀 GPU: 10.3 teraflop RDNA 2 GPU
Its appeal is rooted in that focused platforming style, so players looking primarily for modern open-world action should look to the Ghost or inFAMOUS games instead.

5. inFAMOUS
Metascore: 85 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. The first inFAMOUS gives courier Cole MacGrath electricity-based powers in a PS3-era open world. Traversal and combat are built around those abilities, while choices about harming civilians give the power fantasy a consequential edge. It stands out if you want superhero action where how you use power is part of the premise.
It belongs to an earlier console generation, and its presentation and mechanics should be judged in that context rather than against the newer Ghost releases.
Rank #4

- PS5 consoles support an 8K output, so you can play games on your 4320p resolution display.

6. Ghost of Tsushima
Metascore: 83 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. The original release remains a strong choice for an open-world samurai adventure, with a crafted world and visual appeal at its core. If you want the base game’s experience without treating the Director’s Cut as an entirely different title, this is the relevant entry.
Metacritic’s description also notes gameplay irritations that can accumulate. That makes the game’s overall feel—not just its setting or visuals—worth considering when deciding whether its open-world structure suits you.

Metascore: 83 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. The third Sly game varies its stealth-action structure with contextual minigames, helping keep the play from feeling repetitive. It is a sensible pick if you already enjoy the series’ mix of sneaking, platforming, and character-driven set pieces.

Its score is tied with two other entries here, so the ranking offers little reason to choose it over them unless its particular format or the earlier Sly games are what you want.
8. inFAMOUS 2
Metascore: 83 in Metacritic’s September 26, 2025 feature. Cole returns in a sequel that refines the original formula and moves the action to flooded New Marais. Those are the clearest reasons to play it: a variation on the first game’s electricity-powered open-world action, in a distinct setting.
It makes the most sense for players interested in continuing the original inFAMOUS experience. If you are choosing just one entry, the first game introduces Cole and the premise.

Start with the series and style you actually want, not simply the highest number in the table:
- For stealth-platforming: Begin with Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus for the series’ polished platforming, or choose Sly 2 for the highest-ranked entry and its broader heist variety.
- For superhero action: Start with inFAMOUS to meet Cole and understand the original electricity-powered premise; move to inFAMOUS 2 for the refined sequel and New Marais setting.
- For samurai open-world action: Choose Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut if you want the Iki Island expansion and PS5 edition improvements. The original Ghost of Tsushima is the base-game release; Ghost of Yōtei follows a different protagonist, Atsu.
The studio’s official catalog also includes Rocket: Robot on Wheels, but it was excluded from Metacritic’s feature because the author said there were not enough reviews for inclusion. The same feature ranks inFAMOUS Second Son, Festival of Blood, and First Light below these eight; their omission here reflects the requested eight-entry scope, not a judgment that they are poor games.
