Eight high-profile games were announced for Xbox release in 2025, with planned dates spanning February through October. This is a curated selection of recognizable franchises, showcase features and varied genres—not an objective ranking: Xbox’s announcements did not provide a shared sales, player-count, review-score or anticipation metric. The dates below are the announced dates; this roundup does not independently verify each game’s launch date or current store and subscription availability.
Eight notable Xbox games announced for 2025
The list mixes RPGs, action games, a shooter, a skateboarding remake and a remaster. Several were also announced for non-Xbox platforms, so these are not eight Xbox exclusives.

Which of these games were announced for Game Pass?
Xbox’s January 23, 2025 Developer_Direct recap identified five of the eight as day-one Game Pass releases: Avowed, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, DOOM: The Dark Ages and NINJA GAIDEN 4. That statement does not establish present subscription availability. The June Showcase announcement cited for the other three did not identify them as day-one releases, so do not infer their subscription status from this roundup.
In the Developer_Direct recap, Xbox Wire Editor-in-Chief Joe Skrebels said that all games in that show supported Xbox Play Anywhere: buying them through the Xbox or Windows store allowed play on Xbox and Windows PC at no additional cost, with progress and achievements saved across those platforms. This statement applied to games in that show, not automatically to every title in this list.

How to read the dates and platform list
The dates are the dates Xbox announced for release in its January and June 2025 coverage, alongside Avowed’s Xbox product page. They are presented as historical planned dates, not as independent confirmation of when each game actually launched. Likewise, the platform column records platforms named in those announcements; availability can change, so check a game’s current official store listing before making a purchase or subscription decision.
The selection draws on three Xbox sources: the January 23, 2025 Developer_Direct recap, the June 8, 2025 Xbox Games Showcase recap, and the Avowed Xbox product page (accessed October 4, 2026). Xbox’s announcements also covered other 2025 releases and expansions, so this is one useful set of eight rather than the only defensible selection.
