That is the basis for the rounded “81%” headline—not a poll showing that 81% of all AION 2 players approve of the game.
What the 81% figure measures
The percentage is Inven Global’s tally of Steam reviews by users who had logged at least 10 hours. Its denominator is 5,234 reviews, and 80.8% were positive at the stated snapshot time. It measures the share of reviews in that playtime group, not the share of every person who played AION 2. The underlying review-level data and counting method were not independently reproduced in the report. Inven Global’s report is the source for these figures.
How the rating changes with the review group
Inven Global’s October 6 tally reported different positive-review shares for three groups. The denominators matter: these are review counts, not counts of unique players surveyed.

The longer-playtime groups had higher positive shares in this tally, but that does not establish that playing more caused players to like the game more. Reviewers who choose to post and the amount of time they have played are not a random sample of everyone who has tried the game.

Why early access matters
Inven Global said 85% of reviews in the 10-or-more-hours group were written during early access. The 80.8% figure therefore largely reflects reviews posted before AION 2’s official release, rather than a sample made up only of post-launch players. The report also described a change in review sentiment after launch: 39.6% of reviews posted during the first three hours were positive, compared with 59.2% in the 15-to-18-hour window. Steam player counts are not the full platform picture
The review percentages above are for Steam. In the same report, SteamDB-attributed concurrent-player figures put AION 2 at 203,803 Steam players at 4:00 PM on October 6—about 13 hours after a reported peak of 397,905. The report also gave a Steam early-access peak of 171,530 on September 30. Separately, it attributed a combined peak above 400,000 concurrent players, including users on NC’s PURPLE platform, to NC. Viewership is another separate measure: the article cited a SteamDB-attributed Twitch peak concurrent audience of 261,602, with 90,536 viewers at 4:00 PM on October 6. Viewers, concurrent players and reviewers are different populations and should not be treated as interchangeable indicators of approval.
What reviewers reportedly liked—and questioned
Inven Global summarized praise for character customization and aerial combat, alongside concerns about monetization involving cosmetics and battle passes. Those are themes the article identified in reviews, not quantified results from a representative player survey. The report does not establish how common each view was.

How to read the headline now
Read “81%” as a dated snapshot of Steam review sentiment among users with at least 10 hours played: Inven Global’s 80.8% tally, based on 5,234 reviews at 4:00 PM KST on October 6, 2026. It is not a current rating, a measure of every AION 2 player, or a combined Steam-and-PURPLE result. The cited report is a single secondary source; later ratings and player counts are not established by it.
