Brook’s StarRay combines native PS5 support with an asymmetrical, Xbox-style stick layout. Brook also lists support for Steam, iOS, Android and PC, plus Bluetooth and wired USB-C connections. “Xbox-style” refers to the stick arrangement; Brook’s listed platforms do not include Xbox consoles.
What does “Xbox-style control” mean on the StarRay?
The StarRay uses an asymmetrical stick layout, with the left stick positioned higher than the right—an arrangement commonly associated with Xbox-style controllers. It is still a Brook controller with platform support specified by Brook; the layout description is not a claim of Xbox-console compatibility.
Brook also highlights an extended R2 custom button and four extra controls: two top buttons and two rear buttons. The product page describes trigger options as linear travel of 15 mm or micro-switch travel of 0.3 mm. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements.
Which platforms and connection types does Brook list?
- Platforms: PS5, Steam, iOS, Android and PC, according to Brook.
- Connections: Bluetooth wireless or wired USB-C.
- PS5 wake: Brook says the HOME button can wake a PS5.
Brook’s platform list does not establish compatibility with Xbox consoles. Platform-specific functions may differ; Brook’s pages do not provide independent testing or comparative performance results. Brook StarRay product page

What features and adjustments are included?
Brook lists Hall Effect joysticks, mechanical buttons, six-axis motion, dual vibration motors and a 3.5 mm headset/microphone jack. The controller also has Turbo and Macro functions. Brook describes its software app as supporting button remapping, macro and turbo configuration, joystick response and center dead-zone adjustments, system settings and firmware updates.
Brook specifies a 1,000 Hz polling rate in wired/PC mode. That figure is a manufacturer specification for that mode, not an independent latency test. Likewise, Hall Effect joysticks are a listed component; the available specifications do not establish real-world drift resistance, durability or long-term reliability.
