’83 did make it back: Blue Dot Games released the online tactical shooter in Steam Early Access on April 23, 2026. But the comeback has a major caveat. In a September 25, 2026 statement, the team said it was suspending sales while it looked for other options, after concurrent-user levels failed to give investors confidence in funding development through version 1.0. The team said existing players could continue playing and servers would stay up; whether sales later resumed is not established.
What happened to ’83?
’83 began as a project whose development was paused, then returned under Blue Dot Games, which ultimately became its developer and publisher. The official news archive records an earlier schedule shift from 2025 to early 2026 following feedback on the Steam Next Fest demo. The game entered Early Access on April 23, 2026.
The next major turn came on September 25, 2026. In a Steam Community statement, “The ’83 Team at Blue Dot Games” said concurrent-user levels were too low to sustain investor confidence in taking the game to version 1.0, and announced a suspension of sales while seeking other options. What kind of game is ’83?
’83 is an online, squad-based tactical first-person shooter set in an alternate “Cold War gone hot” conflict. NATO and Warsaw Pact forces fight objective-driven battles. The official site describes matches with 40 players on each side, alongside infantry, vehicles, tanks and fire missions. Its scale and emphasis on objectives make coordinated team combat central to the pitch, rather than a solo shooter experience. See the official game site.

Can you play ’83 solo or offline?
No single-player campaign or offline bot mode is currently planned, according to the official FAQ. The FAQ describes the game as online-only and requiring an active internet connection. It does note that maps can be played offline and that a shooting range is available; those options are not described as a substitute for a campaign or bot matches. Check the official FAQ.
Is ’83 still available to buy?
The latest status established here is the team’s September 25, 2026 announcement that sales were being suspended. The team said the game would remain playable and servers would stay up, but that statement does not establish whether sales resumed afterward. Check the Steam listing and the developer’s official channels for the current store status before purchasing.

The official FAQ lists launch pricing as $29.99 US, with regional variations, and a 10% discount during the first launch week. Those are launch-period details, not confirmation of a current price or offer, particularly given the later sales suspension.

The FAQ says a free demo was released on September 3, 2026. It is a separate app from the base game, and demo players cannot share servers with players using the full game. The demo therefore offers a separate way to try the game, not access to the same matches as owners.
