There are no verified cheat codes for 9 Kings in the official material currently available. The reliable way to unlock its roster is to complete cumulative gameplay milestones, while stronger armies come from matching a king’s cards, perks, decrees and positioning to the run you are playing. This guide lists every documented unlock, shows how to pursue milestones without throwing away a viable kingdom, and lays out a military framework that works across quest, endless and asynchronous multiplayer modes.
Are there cheats for 9 Kings?
The official 9 Kings sources reviewed do not publish a cheat-code list, console commands or a supported way to bypass progression. Treat websites promising a guaranteed code, an unlimited-resource exploit or a permanently safe glitch with caution: an undocumented trick can stop working after a patch and can damage a save or online session.

Progression is designed around actions you perform during normal runs. The official wiki describes kings as both player factions and opponents, each with nine unique cards, nine unique perks and unique royal decrees, plus universal perks and decrees. Only King of Nothing is available at the start. Unlock progress carries between runs, so a failed kingdom can still contribute toward a long-term target.

How to unlock every king
Playdigious Support’s current “How to unlock all Kings?” article lists the following requirements. The figures are cumulative gameplay milestones, not one-run scores. The full game is required for the complete roster; the free version makes King of Nothing and King of Spells playable.

The support list and the wiki describe the same milestone model, but a live patch can change numbers or the way a card is counted. Check the in-game compendium and current patch notes if a counter does not move as expected.
A faster, safer unlock plan
1. Pick one primary milestone
At the start of a run, decide whether the run’s main purpose is combat kills, buildings, plot levels, troop cards, spells, units, spending or survival time. A single clear target prevents wasteful choices. You can make incidental progress toward other kings, but forcing every counter at once usually weakens the kingdom.
2. Keep a survival floor
Milestone progress is only useful if the run remains viable. Reserve enough gold and production for the next expected attack, maintain a frontline that can absorb pressure, and avoid spending the last defensive resource on a counter objective. This matters especially for King of Blood and King of Time, whose requirements reward a long sequence of successful battles or years.

3. Use the game’s natural opportunities
For a spell milestone, cast spells that solve a real problem or amplify an existing plan. For a building or plot milestone, upgrade infrastructure that improves income, recruitment, range, survivability or future card value. For a troop-card milestone, take cards that complement the current formation rather than filling the deck with units you cannot support.
4. Let progress carry between runs
The wiki states that unlock progress persists between runs. A defeat therefore does not erase completed actions. Record the remaining amount for your chosen king, then start the next run with a plan that covers the gap instead of repeating an entire strategy from scratch.
5. Verify the counter before changing strategy
If a requirement appears stuck, check whether the action is the exact category named by the support article. The wiki’s use of “enchantments” for the spell category is one example of terminology that can differ between references. Also check whether a card, decree or mode rule changed in the current build before assuming a bug.

How upgrades work in a strong kingdom
Plots: improve the position, not just the level
Plot levels are a documented progression route for King of Progress, but their strategic value comes from placement. Put economic or production improvements where they can operate safely, and reserve exposed spaces for structures that gain value from proximity, range or support effects. A higher-level plot in a poor location can be less useful than a modest plot that keeps your army supplied and protected.

Buildings: create an interlocking economy
Building counts advance King of Stone, yet buildings should earn their place. Aim for a chain in which income funds recruitment, recruitment protects production, and production lets you continue upgrading. A purely economic opening can collapse under an early assault; a purely military opening can run out of currency. Add infrastructure in the order your next attack requires, not simply in the order that increases the counter fastest.
Perks and decrees: shape the rules of the run
Every king has unique perks and royal decrees, while universal options are available across factions. Read the exact effect and ask what it changes: card frequency, unit efficiency, economy, defensive timing or the value of a particular position. A decree that looks weaker in isolation can become the correct choice when it completes a card combination or removes a recurring bottleneck.
Cards: value the combination, not the rarity of one card
The store description presents buildings, troops, spells, positioning and perks as a combined system. Evaluate a card by what it enables with the cards already in your kingdom. A troop that gains support from your existing formation may outperform a stronger-looking unit that requires a different economy. Likewise, a spell that protects a key building can be more valuable than raw damage when your plan depends on keeping production online.

Build a front, a damage layer and a reserve
Organize the battlefield into three jobs. The front absorbs contact and buys time. The damage layer attacks from a position that the front can protect. The reserve answers a breakthrough, replaces losses or exploits an opening. This structure is more reliable than placing every unit as far forward as possible, because it preserves options when an attack arrives from an unexpected angle.

Position for the next fight, not only the current one
Positioning is one of the systems explicitly highlighted in the store description. Before committing a unit, consider the path an enemy must take, which building or plot the unit protects, and whether moving it later will expose your economy. Keep high-value support effects inside the formation they are meant to strengthen, and avoid clustering every critical asset where one counterattack can disable the whole plan.
Convert rival factions into choices
Rival cards can expand your combinations. The official description says you may acquire cards from rival kings, make peace with factions whose units do not fit your style, or fight for powers and units you want. Use that choice deliberately: pursue a rival when its card solves a specific weakness, and choose peace when another battle would cost more troops and economy than the reward is worth.
Match aggression to the milestone
For King of Blood, battles must produce kills without destroying your ability to continue. For King of Time, survival and repair matter more than a spectacular single engagement. For King of Greed, spending should purchase lasting power rather than emergency waste. The same army can therefore be correct in one milestone run and inefficient in another.
Faction planning: how to choose a build
No official source establishes a universal ranking of kings or a guaranteed best build. Compare candidates using four practical axes:

- Faction tools: Which starting cards, perks and decrees support the way you intend to fight?
- Milestone fit: Will the faction let you cast spells, build, train, spend or fight often enough without undermining survival?
- Economy and defense: Can the plan pay for its units and still answer the next attack?
- Mode objective: Does the build suit a quest challenge, a long endless run or an asynchronous multiplayer match?
For example, a spell-focused plan should reserve space and resources for enchantments while protecting the buildings that make repeated casting possible. A troop-card plan should secure enough production to use those cards effectively. A plot-leveling plan should place upgrades where they improve both the current defense and the next expansion. These are decision rules, not promises that one faction wins every matchup.
Mode-specific priorities
Quest mode
Quest challenges can impose objectives that change the value of a normal opening. Read the stated condition first, then select cards and upgrades that satisfy it while retaining a minimum defensive core. Do not assume a build optimized for a long survival run will meet a quest’s special requirement.
Endless mode
Endless mode rewards compounding advantages: dependable income, replaceable frontline units, protected production and upgrades that continue to matter after the opening. It is the natural environment for pursuing the 999-year requirement, but only if each expansion leaves enough room for recovery after a difficult attack.

Asynchronous multiplayer
Async multiplayer adds an opponent’s timing and composition to the decision. Favor formations that remain functional when you cannot react immediately, and avoid a strategy that depends on one fragile card sequence. Scout the rival’s apparent approach, then use peace, card acquisition or direct conflict according to the value of the answer you need.
Patch 0.9.8, Early Access and what may change
The Steam Community listing still identifies 9 Kings as an Early Access game. A developer announcement dated October 7 describes patch 0.9.8 changes to the decree pool, a post-game kingdom review, ranking statistics and visibility of card statistics in the compendium. Those quality-of-life and balance changes can affect which combinations are easiest to assemble and how you inspect a run after it ends.
The same announcement said a version 1.0 release was planned for November 2026. That was a plan, not confirmation that the release has occurred. Check the live Steam announcements and patch notes before relying on a threshold, card interaction or decree pool, especially if your result differs from the documented support list.
Platform and purchase requirements
The Steam listing identifies 9 Kings as a Windows and macOS game and provides the current system requirements. The support article states that the free version includes King of Nothing and King of Spells; unlocking the complete roster requires the full game. No official source reviewed establishes a physical edition, printed guide or dedicated accessory as necessary to play.
