The update was previously announced for Steam on August 24. Its headline addition is bounty hunting, alongside new crafting, inventory, customization and fishing features.
Which platforms have the update?
Playtonic’s October 5 announcement confirms the update for PlayStation, Xbox and Switch. Steam availability was announced on August 24. The announcements establish that the update is available on those platforms, but do not describe platform-specific feature or performance differences. What does Bandits & Bounties add?
Bounty hunting, bandit camps and robberies
Players can take Wanted Posters from the Sheriff’s building, track the wanted bandit in the wilderness, then return to Sheriff Tom for a reward. Playtonic describes the task as: “Pick up a bounty and head out into the wilderness to track down the wanted bandit.” Bandit camps can also appear during overworld exploration, while robberies and shootouts can break out at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter or Bank. These additions give the update a more active adventure loop alongside the game’s farming and homestead routines.
Crafting, inventory and homestead equipment
- The Toolbelt lets players craft away from a crafting table.
- The Extra Large Bag expands inventory capacity to four rows.
- New equipment includes an Animal Trap, Rock Tumbler and Tailoring Table.
- Inventory counts can now display above 9,999.
Clothing and character customization
The Tailoring Table supports making clothing and hats. The update also adds outfits, head accessories and the option to select red hair.

Fishing and other changes
A new fishing destination can be reached by boat from the docks on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and it includes fish from every season. The publisher also says fishing is more forgiving while a fishing buff is active. Other additions include more NPC dialogue and birds that sway with tree branches.
What fixes are included?
Playtonic lists fixes for controller problems in cooking and crafting, a skin-color display error when switching between saves, a crash in a French-language character scene, animal resources not being collected after heavy butchering, winter scene invitations, and shed, coop or barn upgrades removing multiple inventory items incorrectly. The publisher says the update includes further fixes and improvements beyond these examples. These are the publisher’s descriptions of changes, not independent test results.

Cattle Country is a single-player Western farming and life sim developed by Castle Pixel and published by Playtonic Friends. It launched on May 27, 2025.
