These figures should not be combined into one verdict: one is a PS5 critic aggregate, and the other reflects English-language Steam user reviews. Steam’s review count and percentage can change over time.
What do reviewers praise?
The game’s strongest identity is atmospheric and narrative-led. THQ Nordic describes it as a journey through “a moody atmosphere of darkness and shadows, carried by terrifying visuals and a haunting, original Doom Jazz Soundtrack” on the official game site. That is publisher language, but it points to the presentation the game puts front and center: unsettling visuals, mood, and a distinctive score.

Examples on Metacritic illustrate why some critics responded well: GameGrin’s 90/100 review praises the narrative, acting, and gameplay loop, while Digitally Downloaded’s 90/100 review emphasizes atmosphere and narrative focus. Those are individual reviews, not a representative sample of the wider consensus.
What are the main criticisms?
Other review excerpts point to technical stumbles and action gameplay that can feel less compelling than the story and atmosphere. That helps explain the middling PS5 critic aggregate: the game’s central appeal did not persuade every reviewer that its execution was equally strong.

The available figures do not establish how often these shortcomings occur, whether they are the same across platforms, or whether they have since changed. Treat the criticism as a reason to check platform-specific impressions if technical performance is a deciding factor, rather than assuming every player will encounter identical issues.

It is a more promising fit if you want a single-player survival-horror game built around atmosphere, narrative, acting, and a distinctive soundtrack. It is a less certain choice if you expect consistently satisfying action or want technical polish to be the main strength.

The game is a reimagining of the classic survival-horror title, developed by Pieces Interactive and published by THQ Nordic. It released on March 20, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, according to the Embracer Group release list dated February 15, 2024. Steam identifies its listing as single-player and lists digital add-ons including a soundtrack, digital artbook, costume pack, vintage horror filter pack, and director’s commentary mode; those extras are optional, not a measure of the game’s review quality.
