For a U.S. account, start in Transaction History, select an eligible transaction, choose Request Refund, and follow the on-screen instructions. Rules differ by country, so check the policy for your account’s region before assuming a purchase qualifies.
How to request a PlayStation Store refund
For U.S. accounts, PlayStation’s PS Store & Refunds support page directs customers to use Transaction History. The labels and route may differ in other regions.

- Open Transaction History for the account that made the purchase.
- Select the transaction you want reviewed.
- If the transaction is eligible, choose Request Refund.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to submit the request.
PlayStation’s Ireland guide instead describes opening Order details, selecting an eligible transaction, choosing Cancel Purchase, and following the prompts. It also directs customers who need help to the online assistant or PlayStation Support. Use the instructions and policy for your account’s region.

What to check before submitting
- Purchase category: A game, consumable, subscription, and pre-order may have different rules.
- Relevant date: Identify whether the deadline runs from purchase, signup, or pre-order payment, and for a pre-order note the release date.
- Content activity: Check whether you downloaded or streamed the main content, launched the game, received an item, or used a subscription.
- Account region: Read the cancellation policy for the region associated with the purchasing account; local law may provide additional rights.
Subscriptions: cancelling renewal is not requesting a refund
Turning off a subscription’s automatic renewal prevents future payments, but it is separate from requesting a refund for a payment already made. Under PlayStation’s Ireland guide, the refund route is limited to the first payment and requests must be made within 14 days of signup; time in a free trial counts toward that period. If the service was used, the refund may be reduced. The U.S. support page provides subscription cancellation instructions for U.S. accounts.

Pre-orders: payment timing and preload status matter
PlayStation’s Ireland guide distinguishes pre-orders by how long before release the payment was taken: more than 14 days before release, or 14 days or less. The stated rules also condition eligibility on the main content not having been downloaded or streamed. PlayStation’s Singapore pre-order guide likewise warns that downloading the main content can affect eligibility and that cancelling can remove access to bonus content made available immediately. Check your regional policy and consider any early bonus access before cancelling.

PlayStation’s Ireland FAQ says a refund may arrive in 10 days. It is returned to the original payment method where possible; otherwise, it is credited to the PlayStation wallet. This is an Ireland-specific estimate, not a guaranteed timeline for every region or payment method. PlayStation’s Singapore pre-order guidance notes that some payment methods are refunded to the wallet, so check the payment information for your region.

If the request option is missing or the purchase does not appear eligible
- Confirm you are signed in to the account that made the purchase and have selected the correct transaction.
- Check the regional policy for that purchase category, including the deadline and any download, streaming, launch, delivery, or usage condition.
- For an Ireland account, use PlayStation’s online assistant or contact PlayStation Support if the guide’s request steps do not resolve the issue.
- If you bought a voucher code from another retailer, contact that seller rather than submitting a PlayStation Store refund request.
