Check the current official maintenance notice first, then follow the steps for your symptom. There is no confirmed universal fix for AION 2 lag or connection problems.
First, identify the problem
Before changing settings, note what is happening. Low or uneven frame rates and brief freezes point to a performance issue; delayed actions or rubber-banding suggest a connection symptom; an error at login may be an account-linking or server-availability problem. These are practical distinctions for troubleshooting, not categories published by AION 2 support.
- Cannot log in: Check for a current maintenance notice and record the exact error text or code.
- Low FPS or stuttering: Compare your PC with the official requirements and try the appropriate FHD preset.
- Delayed actions, rubber-banding, or disconnections: Treat these as connection symptoms; the official sources do not provide an AION 2-specific diagnostic sequence for them.
Check whether AION 2 is under maintenance
Before troubleshooting your PC or network, check the official AION 2 Steam community notices for a current service announcement. A notice posted for October 6 PDT / October 7 CEST described scheduled maintenance during which login would be unavailable and said the schedule could change. That dated notice is not evidence that the servers are down now; use the current notice for current status.
Check whether your PC meets AION 2’s requirements
NC’s AION 2 Global Support requirements, published in 2026, list the following. The recommended tier is not a guarantee that every stutter will disappear, but comparing your hardware can help identify whether the game is running below its published baseline.

Use the official FHD graphics preset as a baseline
NC recommends Very Low at FHD for minimum-tier compatibility and Low at FHD for the recommended tier. Try the preset that matches your hardware tier and see whether frame rates become more consistent. These are compatibility recommendations, not proof that graphics settings are the cause of every freeze or stutter.
Fix Steam error 1138:100134
If the message says “Failed to reset Steam account linking. Please check Steam’s status and restart the game,” AION 2 support documents a specific step for this error. Support notes it can occur in a variety of cases.

- Close AION 2.
- Run Steam as an administrator, then launch the game again. This is the remedy specified in the AION 2 Global Support article for error 1138:100134.
- If the same error persists, submit a request to AION 2 Customer Service through the support site.
What to do about connection problems
The published requirement is a broadband internet connection, but the official sources do not specify a minimum speed, acceptable ping, or packet-loss threshold. They also do not establish that a VPN, route optimizer, router replacement, or DNS change fixes AION 2. Avoid treating any of those as a confirmed game-specific remedy.
For general troubleshooting, note whether other online games or services are also having connection problems, and whether the issue happens only at a particular time or server/region. If you contact support, include the exact error, your server or region, the time it occurred, whether other online games are affected, and your PC’s CPU, memory, and graphics card. These details can make the report more useful; they are not stated support requirements.

If the problem continues
Use the official support site for errors that do not match the documented Steam-linking issue, or if the administrator/relaunch step does not resolve 1138:100134. For persistent performance symptoms, keep track of when the stutter occurs and whether the PC is below the minimum or near the recommended tier; this helps distinguish a hardware-related concern from login or connection symptoms without assuming a single cause.
