Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf all your World of Warcraft characters seem to be missing, first check that you opened the right Battle.net account and WoW license, then inspect the character list and realms. A character that was deleted may be recoverable through the in-game restoration screen, but Blizzard’s eligibility limits apply; characters purged after their restoration window cannot be restored.
Check your Battle.net account and WoW license
Make sure you are signed into the Battle.net account you used before, and that the correct World of Warcraft license is selected in the launcher. A Battle.net account can have multiple WoW licenses, so signing into the right account but opening a different license can make your familiar roster appear to be gone. Community forum replies identify this as a possible cause, but Blizzard does not publish a statistic showing how often it happens.
Check the character list and realms
Inspect the character-selection screen and its realm information before concluding that a character was deleted. Blizzard’s updated character screen can display characters across the Battle.net account; hovering over a character shows the realm it belongs to. See Blizzard’s overview of the character-selection screen updates.
If you remember the character’s realm, verify that you are looking at the corresponding entry. A character on another realm or WoW license is a visibility or selection issue, not a deletion that needs the restoration tool.

If you deleted a character, try the restoration screen
- Open World of Warcraft and go to the character-selection screen.
- Choose the restore-character control on that screen.
- Select the eligible deleted character and confirm the restoration.
Blizzard’s support article, Restore a deleted character, says there is a limit of one restoration per day. That cooldown is shared across WoW accounts on the same Battle.net account. The article also states: “Blizzard Customer Support doesn’t restore characters.” In practice, eligible characters must be restored through the character-selection interface; support cannot bypass the tool’s limits.
Check the restoration window for your game version
Blizzard lists these eligibility windows in its current WoW restoration table. They depend on the character’s level when it was deleted:

| Character level at deletion | Restoration eligibility window |
|---|---|
| 10–49 | Within 90 days |
| 50–59 | Within 120 days |
| 60 or higher | Within 365 days |
These limits are from Blizzard’s current WoW table in its support article, which was reported updated five days before October 7, 2026. The same article has a separate table for another game version with different level thresholds, so confirm that you are applying the rules for the version you play. Blizzard also excludes characters below the applicable minimum level and certain trial or starting characters.

If a deleted character does not appear in the restoration list, Blizzard says it may have been purged because too much time passed after deletion. Once purged, a character cannot be restored by any means. A support ticket, paid service, cache clear, or third-party tool cannot reverse that purge.
