What you get in Garfield: Escape from Monday
A solo platforming adventure
Microids describes the game as a 3D platforming adventure developed by OSome Studio. Its story sends Garfield into a nightmare after he eats spinach lasagna. The official description highlights enemies, challenges, lasagna to collect, and three worlds containing more than 40 levels. Garfield’s turkey, surfer, and cowboy costumes each provide distinct skills, while collected items help refurbish Jon’s house. Nintendo UK classifies the game as both Platformer and Adventure and lists single-system play for one player.
Movement includes jumping, climbing walls, and curling up into a ball; the costumes add another layer to navigating the levels. That makes this the more natural pick if you want to move through spaces and hunt for collectibles rather than compete in races.
Release and Nintendo Switch details
Microids says Escape from Monday launched on September 24, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Nintendo’s UK listing gives the Switch download edition as 3.8 GB and also lists a Game Card option. The rating, file size, and play-mode details here are from Nintendo UK and should not be assumed to apply identically to every regional listing or version.

How challenging is it?
MeriStation’s September 22, 2026 review estimates five or six hours of exploration and praises Garfield’s personality and perspective changes. The reviewer also criticizes the controls, presentation, and near-absence of challenge, concluding that the game is better suited to young children than experienced platform players. Treat that as one outlet’s opinion and playtime estimate, not a consensus or independently verified average.
What you get in Garfield Kart
Arcade racing and a series of different games
The official series site identifies three entries: Garfield Kart (2013), Garfield Kart: Furious Racing (2019), and Garfield Kart 2: All You Can Drift (2025). It describes the series around arcade races with Garfield and friends, featuring drifting, shortcuts, traps, and power-ups. Kart customization is also highlighted for Garfield Kart 2.

- 3 GAME MODES: Grand Prix, Single Race, Time Trial
- MULTIPLAYER: Up to 4 players in split-screen mode and up to 8 players in online mode or portably on Nintendo Switch
- 16 CIRCUITS: Crazy races in stunning environments inspired by the world of Garfield, such as Palerock Lake and Pastacosi Factory
- 8 CHARACTERS: Garfield, Odie, Jon, Nermal, Arlene, Liz, Harry and Squeak
- 9 Attack and Defense Bonuses to turn the race in your favor
Those are racing-game features, not platforming objectives. If the fun you want is learning a course, taking shortcuts, and using power-ups against other racers, the Kart series is the relevant choice.
Multiplayer figures apply specifically to Garfield Kart 2
For Garfield Kart 2, the official site lists eight racers, three worlds, up to eight online players, and four players in split-screen. Do not carry those numbers over to the 2013 original or Furious Racing: the site does not establish that they share these specifications. Online service availability and platform-specific details can change, so confirm them for the edition you are considering.

- Mysteries, Treasures, and Rodeos! Pit yourself against your friends on wacky circuits from three unique universes! Find your way through mysterious detective scenes, brave the pirate seas, or kick up dust along old cowboy trails.
- Meet Garfield and His Gang - Play as Garfield, Odie, Jon, and many more iconic characters from the cartoon! Each driver has their own personality, making each race a unique and immersive experience.
- Lasagna-esque Races with Friends! Play against up to eight players online worldwide, or enjoy multiplayer mode for up to four players with split-screen mode! Perfect for frenzied competitions between friends or on family game nights.
- Customizable Karts - Pimp your ride and create a kart that is perfectly aligned with your driving style! Choose your own bumpers, wheels, and spoilers, as well as style and color for a unique touch. Strut your stuff on the track and show them who really is the king of the circuit!
Which game should you choose?
- Choose Escape from Monday if you want a single-player adventure built around platforming, exploration, costumes, and collectibles.
- Choose a Garfield Kart game if you want racing rather than exploration. For the specific multiplayer options listed above, look at Garfield Kart 2.
- For a younger player, consider Escape from Monday if a relaxed experience sounds appealing. The child-friendly characterization comes from one review; it is not a guarantee that every child will enjoy it.
- If you are an experienced platform-game player seeking precision or a challenge, be cautious about Escape from Monday. The available review criticizes its controls and lack of challenge, and there is no comparable evidence here establishing which Kart edition would better suit demanding play.
The games are not direct substitutes: one is a solo platform adventure, the other a racing series. Pick by genre and whether you want to play alone or race with others, rather than treating this as a proven head-to-head quality ranking.
