There is no source-backed universal first Agent Skill for every player. Choose based on what you need next: more evolution options, stronger battle utility, or support for the Digimon on your current roster. Before spending Anomaly Points, check each skill’s in-game effect, prerequisites, cost, and whether it benefits the Digimon you are raising.
Why there is no single best first Agent Skill
Agent Skills are purchased with Anomaly Points, which Bandai Namco says players earn by completing missions. The publisher describes them as one part of a broader growth system involving Digimon training, personalities, and non-linear Digivolution. That makes a universal ranking difficult to justify: the useful choice depends on what your team needs and which Digimon you plan to develop.

The scale of the roster reinforces that flexibility matters: Bandai Namco describes the game as featuring over 450 collectable and trainable Digimon. A skill that fits one team or progression goal may be less useful after your roster changes.
Choose your first skill by your next goal
If you want more progression flexibility
Look at skills whose listed effect or prerequisites support the evolution options you are pursuing. Digivolution is non-linear, and the relevant conditions can differ by Digimon, so confirm that a skill actually helps with your intended path rather than assuming it unlocks a specific evolution.
#1 Best Overall
- Chance encounters with unique characters will shape your journey across time and parallel worlds – and change fate itself
- Journey between the parallel human world and the Digital World: Iliad where Digimon reside with interactive elements/quests to explore
- Enjoy dynamic turn-based combat that combines strategic elements with evolved battle components
- A variety of Digimon & customization options provide limitless ways to approach battles & reveal the bonds formed with your Digimon
If you want better battle support
Compare the skill’s stated battle effect with the needs of your active team. Attributes and elements affect battle matchups, but the available official guidance does not establish a particular Agent Skill purchase order for exploiting them. Use the in-game description to judge the effect; do not buy on the assumption that a general recommendation applies to every matchup.
If you want to develop your current Digimon
Consider the personalities of the Digimon you are raising and whether a skill’s stated benefit complements them. As Lead Producer Ryosuke Hara explains, “One of the new systems introduced in Time Stranger is Personalities.” The PlayStation Blog overview says personalities influence stat growth, skill acquisition, and Digivolution conditions, so the roster’s current growth plans are relevant to the choice.

What to check before spending Anomaly Points
- Open the Agent Skills menu and read the full effect description.
- Check all listed prerequisites and the Anomaly Point cost.
- Confirm whether the effect applies to the agent, the Digimon you are training, or the wider team, as specified in the game.
- Compare that effect with your immediate goal: evolution progression, battle support, or development of your current roster.
- Reassess when your roster or plan changes instead of following a fixed priority list.
Should you worry about resetting spent points?
A Game8 search excerpt cautions that Agent Skills cannot be respecced after spending points, but the guide page was inaccessible and the claim is not confirmed by an official source. Treat it as an unverified caution, not a settled rule. Check the current game interface for reset or refund options before committing points.
