Recover access step by step
1. Secure the linked email account
Change the mailbox password to a strong, unique one before relying on that inbox for a PSN reset. If you cannot access the mailbox, contact its provider. 2. Use PlayStation’s self-service reset if the inbox is available

Select Trouble Signing In? > Recover Your Account.

Enter the sign-in ID, which is the email address associated with the account, and follow the instructions to request a secure link.

Open the message from PlayStation and use its link to set a new password.

The email may take a few minutes to arrive. If it does not appear, check junk or spam folders and confirm that you entered the correct sign-in email. Do not use a reset link sent by an unsolicited message or a person claiming to recover accounts for you.
3. Contact PlayStation if self-service cannot verify you
If the linked inbox is inaccessible, the verification information is missing, or the sign-in details were changed without permission, follow the recovery and support route on PlayStation’s regional support site. The US compromised-account guidance covers these situations. Available support options and labels can vary by region; use the official PlayStation site for your country. PlayStation’s guidance does not state a standard recovery time.

If two-step verification is stopping sign-in
PlayStation’s two-step verification can use a code sent by SMS or generated in an authenticator app. If you saved backup codes when you enabled the feature, use one when the usual method is unavailable. PlayStation says a sign-in code is valid for 10 minutes after a sign-in attempt. If you have no backup code and cannot use the registered phone or authenticator, seek help through PlayStation’s two-step verification guidance and official support.

In online Account Management, open Security and choose the option to sign out on all devices. This closes active sessions that may still be signed in. See PlayStation’s security-settings instructions.

Change any password that may have been exposed, including passwords reused on other services. Use a different, strong password for PSN and for its linked email. PlayStation notes that a password manager can help generate and store unique passwords; it is optional, not a requirement for recovery. Security best practices

Review your sign-in and security settings, then enable two-step verification or a passkey if appropriate. PlayStation describes two-step verification as an extra layer that requires your account credentials and a code from SMS or an authenticator app. Details are in its two-step verification guidance.

Do not share account details, follow suspicious direct messages or QR codes, trust offers of free currency that ask you to sign in, or leave your account open on shared devices. These are among the risks PlayStation flags in its security recommendations.
Check unfamiliar charges before disputing them
Review your transaction history and subscription settings. A recurring subscription, spending by a family member, or a duplicate transaction may explain a charge you do not recognize. If it remains unexplained, follow PlayStation’s unauthorized-charge and refund guidance for your region. Refund eligibility is subject to limitations; the guidance does not guarantee that a particular charge will be refunded.
