For Super Mario Bros. Wonder on a PC running the Nintendo Switch game through Ryujinx, start with the emulator’s defaults and use Vulkan if your GPU supports it. On a standard 1080p display, try 2× resolution scaling; drop toward native resolution if performance, stability, or GPU memory becomes a problem. Keep shader caching and PPTC enabled, and test optional visual enhancements one at a time.
This is a Switch-emulation guide, not guidance for a native PC edition: Nintendo lists the game for Nintendo Switch, with Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility, but does not list a PC release. Nintendo’s product listing identifies the supported console play modes and platforms.
Recommended starting settings
| Setting | Starting choice | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics API | Vulkan, if supported by your GPU | If you see a rendering or stability problem, compare another API supported by your system. |
| Resolution scale | 2× for a standard 1080p display | Reduce the scale toward native resolution if frame delivery worsens, the emulator becomes unstable, or GPU memory runs short. |
| Shader cache | Enabled | May reduce repeated shader-compilation stutter or frame drops on later plays. |
| PPTC | Leave enabled at its default | Its documented benefit is shorter load times after initial launches, not a guaranteed gameplay frame-rate increase. |
| Anisotropic filtering and other enhancements | Leave at defaults initially | Try one change at a time; revert it if visual artifacts appear. |
Ryujinx says it comes pre-optimized by default and advises against changing settings without a specific reason. Its Setup & Configuration Guide recommends 2× scaling for a standard 1080p display, while the archived Ryujinx FAQ recommends Vulkan when supported. These are sensible starting points, not a guarantee that one configuration is best for every PC.
How to tune resolution without sacrificing stability
Resolution scaling is the main quality-versus-performance adjustment. Higher scaling can make the image sharper, but it also asks more of the GPU and can increase memory pressure or expose instability. The useful setting is the highest scale that remains stable on your system—not automatically the highest available option.

We stand behind our product with a hassle-free replacement policy—ensuring you’re back to gaming without worry, no questions asked.
- Begin at 2× if you play on a standard 1080p display, as the Ryujinx guide recommends.
- Play long enough to judge frame delivery and check for visual problems rather than deciding from a static menu image alone.
- If performance degrades, the emulator becomes unstable, or GPU memory is exhausted, lower the scale toward native resolution.
- Change only one graphics option at a time. If artifacts begin after an enhancement or scale change, revert that setting and check whether the problem disappears.
Ryujinx’s graphics guide notes that resolution scaling and anisotropic filtering can cause graphical glitches in some games. Its Graphics Enhancements Guide also explains that aspect-ratio adjustments can suit a display, but stretching the picture can distort the game’s proportions. Preserve the expected proportions unless you have a specific reason to change them.
Why keep shader caching and PPTC enabled?
Shader cache
Leave shader caching enabled. Ryujinx describes the cache as storing compiled shaders so they do not have to be repeatedly compiled, which can reduce related stutter or frame drops on later plays. It does not eliminate every possible hitch or promise a fixed frame rate.

- Two Joy Con can be used independently in each hand, or together as 1 game controller when attached to the Joy Con grip
- They can also attach to the main console for use in handheld mode, or be shared with friends to enjoy two player action in supported games
- Each Joy Con has a full set of buttons and can act as a standalone controller, and each includes an accelerometer and gyro sensor, making independent left and right motion control possible
PPTC
Keep PPTC at its default enabled state. According to the Ryujinx setup guide, its load-time improvement becomes available from the third launch onward, after the game has reached the title screen or beyond on two launches. That is a loading benefit; it should not be treated as evidence of higher in-game frame rates.
What PC hardware does Ryujinx require?
The Ryujinx setup guide lists at least 8 GB of RAM and a GPU that supports OpenGL 4.5 or Vulkan 1.2 or higher among its minimum requirements. It gives a Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB DDR4, and NVIDIA GTX 1060 6 GB as an illustrative baseline for native resolution and frame rate. That example is a general emulator baseline, not a Super Mario Bros. Wonder-specific minimum or a guarantee of 60 fps at any resolution.

The reviewed official sources do not establish a reproducible current PC benchmark or a tested hardware tier for a particular upscaled resolution and frame rate. Actual results depend on the emulator build, CPU, GPU, graphics drivers, operating system, and chosen scale, so no specific GPU can be promised to deliver smooth 60 fps on the basis of those sources.

An archived Ryujinx FAQ names Super Mario Bros. Wonder among games using ASTC textures and suggests recompression as a possible way to address PC VRAM pressure. Treat this as an older, conditional troubleshooting tip: the current setup pages do not independently confirm that the exact option or behavior is unchanged in every current build. First reduce resolution scaling and see whether that resolves the memory or stability issue; only investigate ASTC recompression if the relevant option is available in your build and the problem persists.

Nintendo’s support page lists version 1.2.1, released April 15, 2026, with adjustments and fixes for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition; update details can change over time. Check Nintendo’s update history for the current platform-specific information.
Ryujinx’s setup guide requires users to provide their own dumped Nintendo Switch games and system files; it does not mean a game is bundled with the emulator. Nintendo lists a 3.7 GB file size for each Switch version, but that is console product information, not a PC hardware requirement. The listing also supports TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes and up to four players in single-system and online play. Ryujinx documents keyboard, mouse, Joy-Con, and broad controller support; a PC game controller is an option, with compatibility depending on the device and configuration.
