To play a Fortnite island by code, open Play, go to Discover, enter the code in the Search bar, select the matching island, then choose Play. To find maps without a code, search by title or browse Discover categories.
How to enter a Fortnite island code
- Open Play. Launch Fortnite and select Play. In some interface versions, Fortnite opens directly to Discover; otherwise, scroll down to reveal the Search bar. Epic’s player support instructions describe searching from Play.
- Search the code. Enter the island code in Discover’s Search bar. The standard format is four digits, a hyphen, four digits, a hyphen, and four digits (for example,
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx); Epic also shows codes entered without hyphens in a search field. If one format fails, try the code as the creator provided it and follow the current field’s accepted format. Epic’s code guidance explains the format and availability. - Choose the correct result. Open the matching island tile or detail page. Check its description and the rating displayed for your region.
- Start the island. Select Play. The detail page can also let you favorite the island and choose whether party access is public or private, as described in Epic’s Discover documentation.
How to find maps without a code
In Discover, search for an island’s title or browse the available categories. Rows such as Trending and By Epic are examples, not a fixed menu: category names and order can change. If a familiar category is missing, search for the map by title instead. Epic’s Discover guide covers both search and category browsing.
Find more islands by the same creator
After searching, open the result menu and choose View Developer if that option appears. It leads to the developer’s other published islands. The option is documented in Epic’s search support page.
Save an island for later
Favorite an island from its Discover page to make it easier to return to. Epic’s Discover documentation describes a Library view that includes Favorites and Recently Played islands.

Why an island code may not appear in Discover
The island is unlisted
A published island can have a working code without appearing in Discover. Epic distinguishes Unlisted islands, which are playable by anyone with the code but unavailable in Discover browsing, from Listed islands, which are eligible to surface there. See Epic’s publishing page documentation. “Eligible” does not guarantee a particular placement or that the island will show in a category.
The code is incorrect or the island is unpublished
Check the digits and separators against the creator’s code. Island codes use the xxxx-xxxx-xxxx pattern, and an unpublished island has no player-accessible code. Epic explains this in its island code help page.

Why a Fortnite island may be locked
Parental controls can block an island whose rating exceeds the account’s configured level. The island detail page displays its rating and may offer an unlock flow that requires a parental PIN; a guardian can manage access afterward. Rating labels depend on the player’s region, so use the rating and descriptors shown in that island’s detail page. Epic describes the rating and parental-control behavior in its Discover documentation.
