Choose the game first: Modern Warfare II (2022) uses Gold → Platinum → Polyatomic → Orion, while Modern Warfare III (2023) uses Gilded → Forged → Priceless → Interstellar. These are separate Multiplayer progression tracks, not one shared sequence. Warzone and DMZ have had event-specific camo challenges, but official instructions do not establish that the standard Multiplayer mastery challenges currently count in either mode.

These requirements are from Activision’s Modern Warfare III Weapons and Camo Leveling (Mastery) guide and its Modern Warfare II launch progression overview. Individual weapon tasks can differ, so use the challenge text shown for the weapon you are levelling.
How to unlock MWII Multiplayer mastery camos
For each weapon, complete the stages in order. The category and total-weapon thresholds are account-wide across the eligible MWII weapons; the final task for a camo is still tied to the weapon you want to unlock it for.
Gold
- Complete all of that weapon’s base camo challenges.
- Complete the Gold challenge: get 3 kills without dying 10 times with the weapon.
Platinum
- Unlock Gold for the weapon.
- Meet the additional Gold-challenge requirement for its weapon category. The required number varies by category.
- Get 25 longshot kills with the weapon to complete its Platinum challenge.
Polyatomic
- Unlock Platinum for the weapon.
- Complete 51 Platinum challenges across MWII weapons to open the Polyatomic tier.
- Get 25 headshot kills with the weapon to complete its Polyatomic challenge.
Orion
Complete 51 Polyatomic challenges across MWII weapons. Orion is then granted for qualifying weapons; this is a minimum threshold, not a requirement to finish every weapon in the game.

How to unlock MWIII Multiplayer mastery camos
MWIII has its own weapon challenges and thresholds. Do not substitute MWII’s 51-weapon thresholds or camo names for this track.
Gilded
- Complete all base camo challenges for the weapon.
- Complete that weapon’s Gilded challenge. Tasks are weapon-specific; Activision’s MCW example is 2 Operator kills with one magazine 10 times.
Forged
- Complete the weapon’s Gilded-stage challenge.
- Meet the additional category-level Gold/Gilded challenge requirement; the category threshold varies.
- Complete the weapon’s Forged challenge. Activision’s guide gives 3 kills without dying 10 times as an example, not a universal task.
Priceless
Complete the weapon’s Forged challenge and 36 Forged challenges across MWIII weapons to unlock the Priceless tier.

Complete 36 Priceless challenges across MWIII weapons to unlock Interstellar.
Warzone and DMZ: what is and is not confirmed
Activision labels the detailed Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion requirements as MWII Multiplayer Completionist Camos, and Gilded, Forged, Priceless, and Interstellar as MWIII Multiplayer Completionist Camos. The official instructions cited above do not confirm that these standard mastery challenges currently progress in Warzone or DMZ.

Those modes have had separate event camo objectives. For example, Activision’s Season 05 Reloaded content guide included an event task marked “DMZ Only.” That establishes an event-specific DMZ objective, not compatibility with the standard Multiplayer mastery ladder. Check the in-game challenge description before planning a mode-specific grind.
Do MWII mastery camos carry into MWIII?
Yes. MWII weapon camo progress, completionist camos, and mastery challenges carry forward into MWIII, so unfinished MWII unlocks can be continued there. However, MWII completionist camos—Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion—can only be equipped on the MWII weapons for which they were unlocked; they cannot be applied to MWIII weapons. Activision describes this in its Cosmetic Customization and Unlocks guide.

Weapon Mastery rewards are separate from unlocking the camo
In MWII, equipping a completionist camo unlocks an additional Weapon Mastery challenge for that weapon. These kill requirements earn Calling Card and Emblem rewards; completing all four challenges for a weapon unlocks its charm. The requirements below are the official MWII figures published by Call of Duty / Activision in 2022:
