Choose Elyos or Asmodian based on the faction identity and starting region you prefer, the people you plan to play with, and—if PvP is your priority—the current server pairing. AION 2 makes the factions part of its central conflict, but the available official information does not establish that either side has a permanent combat advantage.
What is different between Elyos and Asmodians in AION 2?
Elyos and Asmodians are the game’s two opposing factions. NCSOFT says each begins in a separate region and that the story leads into large-scale Realm-versus-Realm (RvR) battles. The factions’ conflict is also a core part of the wider AION franchise. NCSOFT’s June 2025 overview describes AION 2 as taking place 200 years after the original AION and says its world is over 36 times larger than the original game.
Those facts establish different starting locations and faction identities, but they do not amount to a complete, current comparison of both storylines. The official material cited here does not provide a detailed walkthrough of what each faction’s opening story contains, so choose by the setting and identity that appeal to you rather than assuming one side has a more rewarding campaign.
Does either faction have a gameplay advantage?
No lasting combat advantage for Elyos or Asmodians is established by the official announcements cited here. They do not confirm that one faction has better stats, stronger abilities, or a permanent edge in combat. A faction that wins on a particular server or during a particular siege is not proof of a universal advantage.

The same caution applies to classes. NCSOFT’s June 2025 overview introduced eight playable classes, but that initial reveal does not establish the current class roster or prove that every class and ability is available identically to both factions. Check current official class descriptions and in-game character-creation information before choosing a faction around a specific class.
How much does faction PvP matter?
Faction choice matters if you want to take part in AION 2’s PvP. NCSOFT describes the Abyss as a competitive battlefield where players fight over field bosses, artifacts, and Abyss Points, and identifies its combat as race-based PvP. The September 2025 launch announcement outlines that Abyss content.

For PvP-focused players, the relevant question is not just which faction sounds stronger, but how the current server pairing is set up. NCSOFT has described separate faction servers as a way to improve balance and, in a February 2026 update, said its latest matching round considered Abyss eliminations, server combat participation, Artifact Siege performance, and overall battle engagement. That notice also described an Abyss Corridor access measure when a faction fell significantly behind 3:0 in siege results. These are dated examples of balancing and matching—not guarantees about the rules or relative strength on your server today. Check the latest official notices before committing to a server for faction warfare. NCSOFT’s February 2026 update has the details.
How to choose your faction
- Start with your group. If friends or a guild have already picked a faction and server, joining them is a practical reason to choose the same side. Confirm faction rules and server availability when you create your character.
- Pick the identity and starting region you prefer. The factions begin in separate regions, so your opening setting is a meaningful part of the choice. The official material cited here does not provide a full current comparison of their storylines.
- Check the current server situation if PvP is central to your plans. Look at recent official matching and siege notices rather than relying on old outcomes, population guesses, or claims that one side is inherently stronger.
- Choose a class from current information. Use current official class descriptions, then confirm the class is available to your intended faction in current game materials. The eight-class figure belongs to the June 2025 initial reveal, not a confirmed current total or proof of faction parity.
- Treat appearance as personal taste. Choose the faction whose look and theme you enjoy. Visual preference does not establish a gameplay benefit.
What the available evidence does not tell you
- There is no substantiated, permanent Elyos or Asmodian combat ranking in the official announcements cited here.
- No named, independent faction population statistic or comparable win-rate figure is established here, so population or success claims should not decide the choice without current, reliable data.
- The initial class reveal does not confirm the current roster or prove complete class and ability parity between factions.
